Story
Picked Misha up from a shelter 6 years ago when she was approximately 6 months old. She has a very cute and unique face and has always been very calm. She is very playful when she wants to be. Although she is very timid to outsiders, she has never hissed at a person and warms to them very quickly. I would prefer her new home be one that is calm and allows her time to get comfortable.

Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.    Warning: Your House Will Never Be the Same At just 13 weeks old, the Peninsula Litter has already mastered the art of being kittens. Some kittens spend their days quietly napping in a sunbeam. These are not those kittens. The Peninsula Litter believes every shoelace is a snake that must be defeated. Every cardboard box is a luxury condo. Every paper bag is an amusement park. They can turn a crumpled receipt into a 30-minute sporting event, race through the house at warp speed for absolutely no reason, then collapse in a tiny pile as if they have just completed an Olympic marathon. Five minutes later, they do it all again. If you've ever laughed while a kitten proudly carried a toy twice their size through the house at 2:00 a.m., found yourself applauding an impossible leap from the couch to the cat tree, or wondered why there was suddenly a kitten hanging halfway out of a laundry basket, you already understand the magic of this age. These four siblings—Mateo, Foster, Carlos, and Clara—are exactly what kittens should be: curious, fearless, playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. They've been raised in loving foster homes where they've been well socialized from the very beginning. They've been exposed to dogs and other cats and would do wonderfully in a home with respectful children. They're confident little explorers who settle in quickly because people have always been part of their world. Whether you live in a downtown apartment, a cozy condo, or a house with room to roam, these kittens aren't looking for square footage. They're looking for someone who will laugh when they steal a sock, smile when they chase invisible 'monsters' across the living room, and happily make room for a warm little body curled up beside them at the end of the day. Picture coming home from work and being greeted by tiny paws racing to the door. Imagine making your morning coffee while a curious kitten supervises from the nearest chair. Picture movie nights with a purring kitten asleep in your lap, or lazy Sunday mornings when the biggest decision is whether to chase a toy mouse or curl up in a sunny window for a nap. Before long, you'll wonder how your home ever felt complete without them. Because kittens almost always do better with another playful feline companion, we'd especially love to see two of these siblings continue growing up together. Mateo and Foster are the very best of friends. They currently live together, play together, wrestle together, and often end the day curled up side by side. We'd absolutely love to see them continue their adventures in the same home. Carlos and Clara are another wonderful pair we'd love to see adopted together as they live together now. They complement each other beautifully and make a fantastic duo. These pairings are not requirements, and we'll always choose the home that is the best fit for each kitten. However, if we have two equally qualified applicants and one family is interested in adopting one of these pairs together, that family will receive priority. If you're looking for laughter, companionship, endless entertainment, and tiny best friends who will quickly become cherished members of your family, the Peninsula Litter is ready to fill your home with love, purrs, and just the right amount of kitten mischief. We can't wait for you to meet them. They have all been spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, dewormed, flea treated, and microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350 for the pair or $200 per kitten. . August 15, 2026, 7:11 pm

Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.    Meet Lacy, a gorgeous 4-month-old calico with a beautiful medium-length coat, a personality as colorful as her fur, and whiskers so GINORMOUS we're pretty sure they have their own zip code. Seriously. The whiskers. You will notice them immediately. They are magnificent. They are dramatic. They are completely fabulous. And somehow, they make an already adorable kitten even more ridiculously cute. But Lacy isn't just a pretty face with spectacular facial hair. She is a sweet, loving, confident and wonderfully friendly little girl who is happy to meet people and ready to get involved in whatever fun is happening around her. She has the confidence of a kitten who already knows she's adorable and sees absolutely no reason to question it. Lacy is playful, curious and full of kitten personality. She is ready to chase toys, investigate absolutely everything, and turn ordinary household objects into highly entertaining kitten adventures. A toy? Fantastic. A box? Obviously a castle. A piece of something that has fallen on the floor? Clearly a treasure that must be investigated immediately. And after all that very important kitten business, Lacy is happy to slow down and enjoy some affection. She is an all-around sweet and loving kitten who wants to be part of her family's life. She also has a special friend named Percy, whom she currently lives with in her foster home. The two are buddies, so if you're looking for a pair, Lacy and Percy could make an absolutely adorable duo. Two kittens means twice the entertainment, twice the zoomies and approximately 47 times the opportunity to discover that you apparently own nothing that isn't a cat toy. Lacy is confident enough to explore the world but sweet enough to want her people, making her a wonderful little companion. She's at that perfect kitten age where she's still tiny and adorable but her personality is already shining through. And yes, we know people are going to see her beautiful calico coat and immediately fall in love. We get it. Calico. Gorgeous. Medium-haired. Adorable. GINORMOUS WHISKERS. It's a lot. But spend a little time with Lacy and you'll discover that the prettiest thing about her isn't her coloring. It's her heart. She's friendly. She's playful. She's affectionate. She's confident. She's sweet. And she has that irresistible little-kitten ability to make you smile just by existing. So go ahead. Admire the calico. Marvel at the whiskers. Watch her play. Listen to her tiny kitten opinions. And then prepare yourself for the inevitable: 'Okay. She's my cat.' Because we're pretty sure that's exactly how this story ends. Lacy is ready to find her forever family. Preferably one with plenty of toys, plenty of love, and a household prepared to appreciate those magnificent whiskers. All kittens have all been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, dewormed, flea treated, and microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350 for the pair or $200 per kitten.  August 15, 2026, 7:11 pm

How this pet arrived:Gemini was brought in by a community member on June 12, 2026.Why this pet is the one for you:Say hello to Gemini! This sensitive and observant boy is looking for a patient home where he can settle in at his own pace. Once he warms up, he becomes a bit of an intense fellow who thrives with plenty of play time and enrichment! Because Gemini values his personal space and the agency to make his own choices about interacting, any children in the home should be at least 6 years old to ensure everyone respects his boundaries. He may initially feel fearful while acclimating to new surroundings, but providing a quiet, predictable environment will help him build the confidence he needs to truly shine! He really enjoys gentle petting, though it is important to watch for signs of overstimulation and keep sessions brief with frequent pauses so he can decide when he's had enough. With a consistent routine and lots of opportunities for "Gemini-approved" fun, he is sure to be a stellar addition to your home; just remember to bring a secure cat carrier for his safe ride to his new adventure! At SDHS:Gemini has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for adoption! Story
How this pet arrived:Heather Grey was brought in by her previous owner on January 10, 2026.Why this pet is the one for you:Heather Grey is a lovely feline looking for her perfect match - someone who appreciates the quiet art of winning a shy cat's heart! With a history of being fearful around new people, she's the type who prefers to observe from a safe distance. Once she gets to know you, she enjoys receiving gentle pets and making biscuits on your lap. Because of her sensitive nature and tendency to hide when overwhelmed, Heather Grey would prefer a dog‑free and kid-free home and will need a confinement period at first so her new family can monitor her eating, litter box habits and whereabouts. Her ideal setup is a calm, low‑traffic household with cozy hiding spots and elevated perches. Building trust with Heather Grey is a marathon, not a sprint - her adopters should avoid forcing interactions and instead offer quiet companionship, tasty food and treats as invitations for connection. With time and patience, she'll reveal her sweet and steady charm. If you are ready to bring this soft‑spoken girl home, don't forget a large, hard‑sided carrier to ensure a safe and stress‑free ride! At SDHS:Heather Grey has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for adoption!  Shy/Fearful Cat:Heather Grey requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her. How this pet arrived: Sunny D was brought in by a community member on May 17, 2026.Why this pet is the one for you:If you've been searching for a feline companion to brighten your routine, Sunny D is ready to clock in! This tabby is a seasoned professional when it comes to the finer things in life, namely window-sill surveillance and claiming every square inch of sun-soaked flooring for her afternoon naps. She's the perfect match for a household that appreciates a cat with a bit of "main character" energy who is more interested in bird-watching and snack-tasting than high-speed chases. Because she values her personal space, Sunny D is looking for a quiet, adult-only home without the hustle and bustle of young children. She has some handling sensitivities and can experience overstimulation, which she communicates through hissing, avoidance or light mouthing when she's had enough attention. A patient adopter who understands feline body language and can provide a "home base" room for her to acclimate will be her hero. If you're ready to trade high-fives for peaceful co-existence and high-quality beds, bring a top-loading cat carrier today to pick up this ray of sunshine!
