HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Very sweet cat who welcomes attention and wants to be near her humans- Will cuddle up close to you when you sleep- She likes to look out the window to see what is happening outdoors- Her purr is very soft and will start almost the instant you start petting her- Is not a fan of other cats, and will be happiest as your one and only- Young, busy children will likely be too much for her, so she is looking for a more mature home that is calmer - Will be a wonderful friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does- She will likely be shy when you first bring her home, and will need to be set up in her own quiet room at first, and then gradually allowed to explore the rest of her home at her own pace- She is a cat who will bond closely with her humans, and will be a devoted friend for lifeThis cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal.
