Tabby kittens & cats in Des Moines, Iowa

Hello, we have 10 kittens that need a new home that are about 7 weeks old now. Variety of colors and sexes. Two sister cats had them about a week apart and they both take care of all of them together. Mostly they are using the litter box now and all are eating dry food and table scraps of meat when there is some. Free to answer any questions. Awesome Christmas present.

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- A big, handsome guy who greets you with a sweet, little meow- He starts purring as soon as you pet his beautiful, soft coat- Is mostly a lounger with occasional bursts of energy, and he enjoys batting mouse toys around the room and playing with wand toys- Enjoys looking out the window and being near you, and if you practice yoga or other floor exercises, he wants to keep you company on the mat!!! - Has done well with other cats- Young, busy children are just too much for him, so he is looking for a more mature home, that is on the calmer side- He will do best starting out in his own room for a few days to adjust to his new home - he doesn't hide in his foster home, but he is a little nervous about common household noises - Makes biscuits in his bed to get comfy before lying down - Loves Churu treats This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting!
