Story
My sister got the cat at Dakin Humane Society. The cat is calico, she is four years old, she is very friendly with adults and children. So she can go to a family. She is very playful, calm, and friendly. She, unfortunately, takes medication for feline herpes, that my sister is unable to pay for any longer. But she is a very sweet cat, who is extremely happy and good with people. My sister is moving soon and can’t take the cat with her. So we would like to find her a good home. Thank you for your interest.

Story
Abilene is the kind of kitten that makes your heart ache in the gentlest way. At just six months old, she’s still very much a baby — a tiny, delicate little soul who is learning that the world can be kind. She’s shy when meeting new people and cautious with new cats at first. She likes to take her time, sitting back and watching everything with her big, thoughtful eyes before deciding it’s safe. She doesn’t rush into new situations… she tiptoes into them. Watch her YouTube video now https://youtu.be/4bC-8_NEjGU?si=YL3j080KH00foKSw And there is something so incredibly sweet about that. Abilene isn’t loud or demanding. She’s soft. She’s gentle. She’s the quiet little girl in the room who just wants to feel safe. But once she does? Oh, she blossoms. With other cats, she may be shy in the beginning, but once she gets to know them, she truly loves having kitty friends. She finds comfort in them and enjoys their company in the sweetest, most peaceful way. A calm, friendly feline sibling would likely help her confidence grow even more. And when playtime starts? It’s like watching the sunshine peek through the clouds. The shy little girl disappears and suddenly she’s chasing toys, pouncing, batting at anything that moves. She plays with her whole tiny heart. In those moments, you see the happy, playful kitten she’s meant to be. It’s beautiful to watch her forget her worries and just be a baby. Abilene would thrive in a patient, loving home — somewhere calm where she can settle in at her own pace. She doesn’t need perfection. She doesn’t need excitement. She just needs someone gentle. Someone who understands that shy kittens aren’t broken — they’re just tender. The best part about a kitten like Abilene is the bond you’ll build. When a shy girl chooses you, it means everything. Every small step forward feels like the biggest victory. Every moment of trust feels earned and precious. She isn’t the bold kitten who runs up to everyone. She’s the one who will quietly steal your heart. Abilene is waiting for someone to see how special she is. Someone who will give her the time to bloom into the confident, playful sweetheart she already is on the inside. If you have a soft spot for the shy ones… Abilene just might be your girl. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. Story
Meet Holly Hobby Holly Hobby is a stunning dilute calico beauty with mesmerizing golden eyes and a quiet grace that will melt your heart. Holly loves to be petted and will look at you with those eyes so that you can't help but oblige! Petting her is very satisfying because she stretches her body into your hand to get the most out of your offered pets. Holly is a gentle girl who thrives in a nurturing environment, as well as having a flare of the calico confidence. She is looking for a warm companion who is happy to hand out pets. She is a quiet, easy kitty who requests pets by reaching out a paw and cute mew, and then leans into enjoy them. She is on a prescription diet to prevent crystals in her bladder. She eats her prescription food well. That is the only special care she needs. She will do best in a home with adults or a kind-hearted singleton. She also needs people who understand that not every cat enjoys being picked up. When her foster picks her up, Holly just lodges her complaint with management by squiggling and squirming. This sweetheart wouldn't resort to claws! She currently lives peacefully with other 4 cats and 4 kittens and would be happy in a feline-friendly home — or she’d be just as content being your one and only. Canine visitors put her on her guard. She is very tidy with her litter box. She loves a comfy blanket and a good view of cat TV. Holly Hobby asks if you will be her friend? Sneezy is a sweet, playful little girl who is a bit shy. She is bonded with her sister, Happy, and they must be adopted together. Sneezy is a bit shy and will take some time to warm up. She needs a patient adopter and a calm home that will respect her quieter demeanor and allow her to feel safe. Once she warms up to you, she is very affectionate and playful. Her foster mom writes, " It will take some time for them to warm up to you but when they do they will love you. They love running around and playing and they love to cuddle with you on the bed. Laying with me and purrrring is their favorite thing 🩷🩷" The total adoption fee for Happy and Sneezy together is $500.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Shelly came to us as a stray alongside another female cat, Gale, who is also up for adoption. While we don’t know much about her past, we’ve seen that Shelly is a very sweet girl who just needs a little time to feel safe. Change can be hard for her, and she may be shy at first in new environments. She would do best with a slow introduction to her new house, giving her a smaller, quiet space at first to adjust and build confidence. We also recommend gradual introductions to any other animals in the home to help set her up for success. Once she settles in, Shelly has so much sweetness to offer Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
