Story
Lucinda was dumped in a dog crate outside of a wildlife rehab facility, along with 3 other cats who were most likely her mother and siblings. She received vet care and went to a foster home with her mom and siblings so that she could get comfortable with people. While shy in the beginning, Lucinda quickly warmed up and became a friendly little lovebug. She loves people and will come running over as soon as you come in the room for petting and affection. She is playful but mellow. Lucinda has been comfortable with the dogs and other cats in her foster home and will likely do well in any home, as long as her new family is calm and patient with her at first, giving her time to trust and warm up.

Story
Stitch is a gorgeous, mellow, loving, friendly gray tabby who was surrendered by his owners because they had to find new housing and weren't able to find a place that accepted pets. He is shy right now and seems sad about losing his owners, who loved him very much. However, his owners reported that he was very playful, affectionate, and friendly in his home, and we are confident that he will be that once again in a new loving home. Stitch's BFF is his brother, Simba, another gorgeous and friendly tabby. They must be adopted together. Stitch and Simba both lived with kids in their last home and the owners reported that they loved the kids and loved to play.

Story
Sweet Pepper is an older man who has had a very hard time lately. He lived in a home where he was bullied by other cats and so he stopped using the litterbox. His owner brought him to the vet for testing and when the vet determined that there was nothing wrong medically and the problem was entirely behavioral, the owner decided to have Pepper euthanized. Thankfully, the vet knew that this behavior could be corrected and refused to euthanize. At that point, the owner contacted us to surrender him. To make matters worse for Pepper, the home he was living in had difficulty controlling fleas and Pepper regularly dealt with flea infestations. While this is a very uncomfortable situation for any cat, Pepper is allergic to fleas so he his skin breaks out in very itchy and painful sores in response to flea bites. The photos below show what he looked like upon arrival and what he looks like now.. He has had great care in a foster home and has been treated for fleas and the allergic reaction. His fur is growing back, he is much less itchy, and he uses the litterbox with no problem. He is looking for a home who will show him the love and care that he has always deserved. He would do well as an only cat or with calm, gentle cats. He is probably between 8-10 years old and will likely need a special diet to control his skin issues.

Story
Introducing Ruthie! A charming 4-year-old domestic short hair residing in Northampton, MA, who's ready to journey to her forever home! With her striking green eyes and distinctive black and white coat, Ruthie's physical appearance is as captivating as her personality. Her polydactyl nature adds to her allure, although it necessitates regular nail care. Weighing a sturdy 14 pounds, she's in excellent health and possesses youthful energy. Ruthie's beginnings were humble; she was discovered along with her two siblings on a chilly, wet evening, sheltering in a city drain. Consequently, she's a touch timid and selective about affection, preferring to dictate the terms of her interactions. Yet, once she warms up, Ruthie is a devoted lap cat, reveling in gentle strokes to her head and ears, often curling up for a cozy nap! For Ruthie, the perfect home is one where she can thrive amongst adults who appreciate her feline charms and where she resides as the sole feline. She's an indoor cat by necessity and would benefit from access to a screened porch or windows for bird-watching adventures. Ruthie comes equipped with all the essentials, from a litter box to a laser pointer, ensuring she's well-prepared for her new abode. Ruthie's vaccination, spaying, litter training, and microchipping are up to date. If you're ready to welcome Ruthie into your heart and home, please reach out directly to adopt@joyfulpets.com for further details. With a little love and understanding, Ruthie promises to be a loyal and affectionate companion for years to come!

Story
Introducing Kieran, the gentle and reserved feline companion with a penchant for quiet moments by the window. Kieran prefers observing the world from the safety of his favorite perch, where the soft glow of sunlight creates a cozy haven. His love for windows is evident in the way he spends hours gazing outside, watching leaves rustle and birds flutter by. The windowsill is his retreat, offering a front-row seat to the outside world without the need to step out of his comfort zone. Kieran prefers quiet spaces where he can feel secure, making him the ideal companion for a tranquil and serene home. If you're seeking a gentle soul who finds solace in quiet moments and dreams of sunlit afternoons, Kieran is the perfect feline friend for you. About Spirit Cats Spirit Cats are great companions for a resident cat...but they take people on their own terms! They are cats who live with you, and who may sometimes grant you the opportunity to touch them. Or, they may not. Here's what to expect with these special cats: These cats WILL: - They're great with other cats! They are used to living with many cats, and are excellent companions for other cats. - Over time, they will most likely get used to one or two people who will be allowed to touch them. They may choose to hang out near you, or sleep on the bed with you at night. - They are a great choice for patient, kind people with a quiet household, who want to make a difference for an individual cat - one that few people have the patience to help. - They are a fine choice for situations where you don't have a lot of time to devote to a pet - most of these kitties do not need or want much attention from people. These cats WILL NOT: - They will not magically turn into normal acting cats; what you see is what they will be like for a long time, maybe always. Some will change more than others, but be prepared for what you see now. - They will not be a good choice for busy homes. - They will not be a good choice for homes with children.
