Story
Handsome, handsome, handsome! But beauty is only fur deep. Elijah is a sweet boy who was very shy when he first arrived at Dakin with his buddies. But now his charming personality is shining through. He lovingly lays his head on your hand, showing he's an affectionate boy who just needed a little time to come out of his shell, and enjoys head pets and chin scratches. Elijah is accustomed to living indoors with other cats and did fine with them. Unfortunately, his person fell on hard times and while he loved Elijah and his friends, he wanted them to have the life they deserved. Elijah is certainly deserving of a home where he will be loved and cherished. He may be shy in a new environment. If he is, be patient with him. He's worth the wait! Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR** Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available. PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
Meet Coggi! Coggi's previous owners describe her as friendly, affectionate, playful, and likes to be the center of attention with her family. Coggi can be a bit shy of new people or guests but warms up in time. Coggi loves to rub against her peoples' legs for pets and attention though out the day. She also enjoys sitting in her window watching the birds or playing with her toys. Coggi was a mama cat and her babies have now found homes, but she has not lived with any other adult animals. We always recommend doing a slow introduction with resident pets in the home after adoption. Come meet Coggi today to see if she is the new match for your family! Change is hard for this cat. Story
Safira came to Dakin when her life lifelong guardian lost her housing. As such, she was pretty much a one-person kitty. To complicate matters, she was about to have kittens! But she's come a long way and has proved that she is resilient. Safira went into foster care and was a fantastic mom. Now the kids are ready to find their own place in the world and she's ready to become a sweet companion to some lucky person. Safira's foster says she's laid back, affectionate, sweet, and always ready for a snack! This kitty has excellent communication skills and will chat up a storm when she is hungry or wants pets. She enjoys getting scratches and chin rubs but isn't a fan of being picked up. Right now her play drive is low and she'll swat a feather toy now and then, but she prefers to just laze around. Maybe after being such an attentive mom, she's just pooped out from motherhood! Her foster home was an adult household with one dog. While she had her doubts about him, she kept her cool, so perhaps she would do well with a slow introduction. She lived with another cat in her previous life and they got along well. Safira lived with children on the rowdy side for a brief spell when she was between homes. She avoided them, but was fine with the teenager who spoke softly and petted her gently. She was accustomed to being with a single person her whole life, but she may do well with older children who are gentle with her. Safira has been through a lot in a few short months, but she's ready to move on to the next leg of her journey...your home. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. Story
See my adoption video! https://youtu.be/aGDGAM4er00 Schweppes was trapped outside and brought to Dakin. He is slowly learning to trust people and has started to allow petting. If you listen closely, you may even hear him purr!!! A "Tiny Spirit Kitten is a feral or extremely shy kitten that has had no socialization with people in their first few months of life. These kittens will vary in terms of becoming social in their new homes; some may become very sweet and outgoing, while others may only ever trust you and no one else. They will all take patience, dedication and hard work to help them adjust into home life. Confinement to a single small room with a litter box, food, and water is a must. They do well in a home with other animals and, depending on the kitten, may even do well with children. They will go home with specific instructions that will need to be followed in order for everyone to have a successful transition. Story
He truly lives up to his name.  He is squirrelly and silly.  He is sometimes hyper and will play with anything.  Squirrel is also the most affectionate cat you will ever have.  He loves for you to hold him and he gives the best kisses.  Squirrel likes to cuddle up to you and lay on your neck.  He is a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to new things but trusts his human to protect him. ##2098177##
