Story
ABOUT POPOVER Looking for a snuggly girl? Meet our adorable 1-year-old Cane Corso mix, Popover! Sadly, Popover was abandoned on our property, so we don't know much about her past. Understandably, she was a little shy and hesitant to trust us at first, but has since opened up tremendously! Popover warms up to new people with a little patience and lots of praise, reminding her that everything is okay and no one is here to hurt her. Once she is comfortable, she transforms into the happiest, most goofy girl with her friends! Popover is super food-motivated and eager to learn, making it easy to build a loving bond with her. She loves zooming around our fenced fields, tossing toys around, and afternoon strolls. After some much needed playtime, this young lady is sure to melt in your lap for some snuggles and love! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
MARVEL is a 5 yr old Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) who came to us after she became protective of her family in their home. Marvel is a victim of Covid-19. With the shelter in place order, her family was not able to properly socialize her and she grew up as a “big fish in a little pond”. Her family had many special needs children and medical care professionals needed to visit the home during the pandemic. They arrived wearing masks and Marvel thought that was very scary and began to protect the children from these masked strangers. The family called in a trainer but, due to the circumstances, everything was a little overwhelming for them. We acquired her on the day she was to be euthanized. Marvel has been fine with us. With a handful of treats she warms up quickly to our volunteers. We did have one incident with an unannounced visitor who approached her quickly and the result was a bite. In a home she may revert to her protectiveness so we are looking for a family with Cane Corso experience - walking the line between socialization and keeping her safe. Cane Corsos were originally war dogs during the Roman empire and used for protection - it is ingrained in their DNA. They have also been used for drafting and droving cattle – IE they need a job to do. Just sitting around the house twiddling their thumbs is a recipe for disaster which is what got Marvel into the situation in the first place. We have paired Marvel with playful young male dogs and they do well together with supervision (Marvel tends to play rough and takes the upper hand). We feel that she could work out in a home with a well-adjusted male dog to show her appropriate dog behavior or as an only pup. Not cat compatible. Marvel can fly over a 4 foot fence so 6 foot privacy fencing is ideal. If you are the home that we are looking for, please fill out an application at www.CompAnimals.org. Marvel is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. Adoption $300.March 7, 2026, 5:36 pm

Story
We are looking to rehome our 1 year old cane corso. Echo has been with us for about 8-9 months. We took her in after someone offered her up to us at a gas station for free. She was very malnourished. We knew she would have a better life with us. Within 2 months we were able to get her from just 50LBS to a healthy 84LBS. Echo loves hiking, swiming and all the dog parks. She does have to be in her crate when we are not at home, due to her chewing up anything she can reach. Additionally she needs to eat meals in her crate because she has food aggression towards our senior German shepherd. We love her and are still taking great care of her, but we need to rehome her. We're not home enough to give her the attention she needs. She spends 12 hours everyday in her crate due to our work schedules. She is stressing out our 10 year old german shepherd too. Her crazy energy requires space to run. like a very large fenced in yard. And someone that can give her much more un-crated attention.

Story
Rocky's Story Rocky is a 4-year-old Cane Corso mix with a big presence and an even bigger personality. Loyal and protective by nature, he’s looking for an experienced adopter who understands his breed and can provide the structure and leadership he needs to thrive. Rocky forms strong bonds with his people and will be a devoted companion in the right home. However, he does have some guarding tendencies around high-value items like bones, so a home without small children is a must. He would do best as the only pet, as he prefers not to share his space with other animals—especially cats. Like many strong, intelligent dogs, Rocky can get a bit destructive when bored or under-stimulated. With proper exercise, enrichment, and guidance, he has the potential to channel his energy in positive ways. Continued training will be very beneficial for him, helping build trust, reinforce boundaries, and bring out his best qualities. Rocky is ready to find his forever home with someone who sees his potential and is committed to helping him succeed. In the right hands, he’ll be a loyal, protective, and loving companion for years to come. Please apply for Rocky at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50
