Meet Velvet! This girl was rescued from total starvation off a chain in someone's back yard. She was nearly 50 pounds lighter than she should've been when we found her, but she eats like a champ and has begun to fill out nicely! Despite coming from such a hard life, Velvet is incredibly sweet and gentle. Her teeth are broken shards, her body is missing large patches of fur and is covered in skin tags and bumps, but she is so beautiful to us. Velvet is a big girl although still underweight, we think she is a mastiff or cane corso mix. She might be around 8 years old, although it's hard to tell since her body is so incredibly wrecked. Overall though she is healthy and has so much love to give some lucky foster or furever family! She is good with other dogs of all sizes and loves kids as well.

Story
I ran a national presa canario rescue years ago, and was contacted about dogs owned by a well known animal abuser from when i was running the rescue, that needed help. So I drove to Alabama and picked this guy up. If he would of stayed where he was at much longer, he would of died from starvation. He's around 7 years old and is a Boerboel/corso cross. He loves people, and is mostly low to moderate energy, his preference is sitting with you being loved on. He is dog friendly, just no large breed male dogs. No cats. No small children due to his size, and while he takes food gently out of your hand 90 percent of the time, there are moments he can still be alittle grabby, which isn't going to hurt an adult, but could hurt and definitely scare a young child.
