Her journey to this point has been nothing short of remarkable. She had a tough start to life, found by a kind soul who saw she was severely burned from head to tail. Thanks to exceptional veterinary care and the loving attention of her medical foster, she’s now healthy and thriving. We adopted Luna a week ago from a kill shelter.She was left there by her family due to a supposed bite to a child( they did not file an official record) We met her at the shelter and she had a calm demeanor.The shelter staff said she had some barrier reactivity.They took her to a playgroup with other dogs,and noted she gave gentle correction and just wanted to be left alone .Volunteers to the shelter were able to feed her treats in her kennel.The first day we had her home she did growl at myself and my daughter( decompressing and we got in her space too much )She has not growled since then.We have left her alone in our office to decompress.She was in the office all day while we went to back to work,and no accidents and she did not try to get out.She knows sit,wait,and lay down.We think she could do well in a home with no kids,and a person with experience with the breed.She has been doing well on walks.

Hi, I’m Moon. They say I’m a 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix, but honestly, I feel much older than that. Life hasn’t exactly been gentle with me. For as long as I can remember, it’s just been me, Bennett – my baby’s dad – and the endless streets. I gave birth to my little one, Alex, all alone out there. We didn’t have a safe place to rest or warm hands to care for us. It was just me, trying my best to keep us alive and safe. The kind folks at Second Chance Dog Rescue found me after someone saw me and Bennett roaming around. A partner of theirs trapped me and brought me to safety, but it’s hard to let go of the fear and hurt. The past has left its mark, and every human hand feels like a question: Will they hurt me, too? I’m trying, though. The volunteers here are patient, letting me come to them on my own terms. I want to trust them, but my heart needs time. I’m a good mom, a gentle soul, and, despite my past, I know deep down I still have love to give. I like being able to see Bennett here; it’s a small comfort. I even enjoy the company of other dogs, as long as they respect my space and understand that trust doesn’t come easy for me. Every day, I’m learning that maybe – just maybe – there’s a future out there with a kind family who won’t let me down. Until then, I’m holding on, one soft touch and gentle word at a time.
