Story
Banksy came to us from a less than desirable situation that maybe turned out to be a blessing in disguise. He was set to be a TNR cat in a trailer park in central Kentucky. Unfortunate the person trapping him accidentally forgot his kennel. When they went to retrieve him(not long thereafter), it was realized that Banksy had been sprayed through the side of the kennel with red spray paint. Including in his face. Fortunately, we don’t think permanent damage was caused. We got Banksy and got him into a foster home where he loves everything. People, cats, dogs, all the things. Would you want to give Banksy a second chance at life?

Story
Funny story: his surgery chart said “brown tabby bad eye” as a descriptor. Although the beginning of his life began at the worst time. Luckily some nice folks found him and siblings in a brush pile on the side of the road. Everyone was brought in and the feral phase didn’t last very long. Now he is the most loving cat one could ask for. And the best part about everything is that his “bad eye” won’t have to come out. It’s not causing any discomfort. I added the Leroy to the front of his name after someone jokingly suggested it on Facebook. So meet Leroy Brown Tabby Bad Eye(think of it as a lost version of the Jim Croce song). He may not be meaner than a junkyard dog, but he will be as loyal as one. Or something.

Story
Please welcome Channing back to NBARR. After almost 3 years in his adoptive home, he has found his way back to us. The family wanted a multi cat household after having Channing for a few months they decided to adopt another FIV kitty, Channing got along great with the cat but that cat started spraying out of dominance and so did Channing, the family had to return that cat to the rescue it was adopted from. They tried bringing in other cats and similar experiences happened. After the last cat they brought in started peeing in clothes baskets, they sent her back to the rescue she was adopted from, however Channing continued to mark his territory. We took him to the vet the day we got him back to rule out any form of blockages or UTI and he has a clean bill of health. He was just not happy with new cats coming into his home. He has been doing great with us, he uses the litterbox consistently and has not attempted to spray or pee anywhere inappropriately. Our house has 6 resident cats, a husky and a guinea pig. Channing gets along with all of them and we think he would be fine going into a home with an existing cat or dog that is not confrontational, however Channing's ideal home is somewhere he can be the center of attention and get all of the love (and belly rubs). He is the best boy and deserves to have a forever family. 2022 Meet Channing! This boy is a sweetheart despite all he has been through. He was originally surrendered to a shelter after his owner died, he had obviously been a trap and release kitty based on his ear tip. He was pulled by a local rescue and after multiple attempts to treat an issue he was having with his ear, nothing was working and he was just getting worse so the vet recommended euthanasia. That is when NBARR stepped in and took him to our vet and they determined he had a nasty ear infection due to a large polyp in his ear, it was removed same day and he is just as sweet as before but with less of a head tilt now. After healing from the ear polyp surgery, Channing still had a watery eye so after consulting back with the vet, she determined he also needed a little plastic surgery due to entropion of his eye. Once that was corrected, everything has been great with him. Channing is also FIV+ (which is an immune deficiency virus) It is not curable however FIV+ kitties can live a complete normal life. Unlike with feline leukemia, FIV kitties can live with non positive cats. The virus is typically only spread by cat bites. Channing is very tolerant of other animals. Channing is great with kids and loves attention, he is very vocal and will talk to you quite a bit. He has met a couple of our resident cats and doesn't mind them as long as they do not pester him. I think he would be fine in a home with a cat or cats that are not dominate. Channing being almost 16lbs is a big boy and based on his scars and the fact he is FIV+ means he has probably been in a few fights but he is not the type of cat that goes looking for fights. What is FIV: Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common and consequential infectious diseases of cats around the world. In infected cats, FIV attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to many other infections. Although cats infected with FIV may appear normal for years, they eventually suffer from immune deficiency, which allows normally harmless bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi found in the everyday environment to potentially cause severe illnesses. Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans. Risk & Transmission: The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds from an infected cat. Casual, non-aggressive contact, such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming, does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections. Only on rare occasions, an infected mother cat may transmit the infection to her kittens. However, if the mother becomes infected with FIV during her pregnancy, the transmission risk to the kittens is increased. Sexual contact is not a significant means of spreading FIV among cats. Story
We took in this handsome boy after it was discovered he is FIV positive. The vet thinks he is 2 years old and that he spent much of his life outside. He is such a cuddler and so playful. He is a big personality and a little nippy-er than most cats. But he is great with our dog and our baby - even becoming something of a guardian of our little boy. Unfortunately, we have an allergy in the household that just won’t quit. FIV positive cats live long happy lives and we want Julian to find his forever home. Not sure why it says I’m in Alvaton. I’m in Bowling Green proper.

Nani is looking for her forever home! She's taking applications for a calm, adult only home where she can relax and play at her own pace. She loves being pet on and hates loud noises. She’s just looking for someone to sit with and get all the love. She has a neurological issue that causes her to have a bit of a head tilt but she otherwise functions and cats just fine.
