Story
Cheyenne is a 7 year old deaf Catahoula Leopard Hound mix. She came to us from a kill shelter in Alabama. She’s a beautiful girl who is a bit on the shy side, gentle, and she has lived with other dogs. Oh, and she’s a looker, too, with those bright blue eyes and merle coat. Cheyenne is a graduate of our Group Training Class, Basic Obedience. We wouldn't recommend that Cheyenne live with children, she prefers a quiet adult household. She would do best as an only dog. We're not sure about cats. To meet Cheyenne, please fill out an application for adoption:   http://www.deafdogrescueofamerica.org/adoption-application.html      Please note that we are unable to respond to inquiries, emails or phone calls. Our adoption process starts with completion/submission of an application for adoption. All applications are reviewed as quickly as we can, and our adoption process is not first come, first served. We select our adoptive homes according to what our dogs/puppies require. If you are selected as an appropriate match, you will be contacted to set an appointment to visit the Ranch and meet Cheyenne.  November 3, 2024, 12:20 am

Story
Tiger and Roxy are beautiful American Bulldog and Catahoula mixes. Tiger is 3.5 years old, Roxy is three. Tiger is hearing. Roxy is deaf. They are a bonded pair. Tiger is blue merle with one blue eye. Roxy is red merle with one blue eye. They are really unusual looking dogs. The merle in their coats comes from being crossed with Catahoula. I love this breed combo...Ambulls make great family pets and Catahoulas can be really hilarious. And these two are true to their breed mix. I cannot walk past them without smiling. They were surrendered to a high kill shelter together because their landlord made the owners give up their dogs. Both dogs were intact, and were barking when they were alone all day. (Roxy was in heat, which is what caused the frustration barking....they are actually pretty quiet dogs) They both weigh in at about 80-90 pounds, even after some slimming down, they are big dogs. They were indoor couch potatoes. They are both extremely affectionate dogs, and love to be with people. They are a little shy at first, as they haven't had a lot of socialization. It takes them about five minutes to know they are safe, and let the kisses begin. Everywhere they go, people point at them because they are such handsome and unique looking dogs. We absolutely will not entertain breaking up this highly bonded pair. They must be adopted together. We were told that Tiger was dog aggressive. He isn't. He can be barky protective if he thinks Roxy is threatened, and we've never seen as much as a growl from him. They should be adopted as the only two dogs in the home, please. They will be a lot happier. I can't articulate how incredibly nice these dogs are. They are a very special pair, unique in looks, overflowing with sweetness of temperament. They are like two little cartoon characters that live to make their people smile....and they sure do.  If you think you're the right lucky family to give these two a lifetime of love and security, please come and meet them, and prepare to fall in love. They are amazing. Story
Moose hands down wins the award for the coolest looking dog this year. He was found in a shelter with his 8 siblings. We had room for one and Moose was it. What a fantastic, fun, playful well behaved pup. Moose is living at the beach with his foster and is enjoying an active lifestyle. He weighs around 48 pounds now. Moose will be a fantastic family dog. He is great with all people and dogs. Crate trained and house trained. C'mon... who wouldn't want this amazing dog as part of their family? All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
Meet Meep! A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog currently in Oakland, CA, whose essence is a whirlwind of playful charm wrapped in a stunning merle coat and powered by puppy-sized curiosity. Meep is a big-hearted 90 pound pup with a big future! He’s the kind of companion who makes every day feel like recess, with boundless energy, a contagious grin, and a serious love for belly rubs. Meep lives for zooming around the yard, soaking up attention, and gleefully interacting with people and pups who appreciate his enthusiastic approach to life. This sweet boy is both crate trained and house-trained, making him a solid addition to a home that can offer him structure, consistency, and lots of active time. He’s mastered “sit” like a pro, especially when there’s a treat or belly scratch involved, and he’s incredibly tuned in to his humans, always eager to learn and please! While Meep is still working on leash manners (a little leash reactivity pops up now and then), with positive reinforcement and regular walks, he’s well on his way to being a stellar walking buddy. Meep gets along especially well with small dogs and adores young children, showing a gentle and goofy side that melts hearts. With larger dogs, he can be a bit much, especially if they’re not into his puppy playstyle, so a home where he's the only large do (or with tolerant, playful companions) would be a great fit. He would thrive in a space with a fenced yard where he can stretch those long legs and burn off some energy between cuddle sessions. Playful, affectionate, and endlessly trainable, Meep is looking for a guardian who understands the joy (and the challenge) of raising a big, bouncy pup. He needs someone ready to guide him with kindness, keep him engaged, and enjoy the ride of watching him grow into the loyal, loving dog he’s meant to be. Are you ready to meet the happy whirlwind that is Meep and help him write his next great adventure? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com today!
