Story
Meet Star! Star is a 4-year-old Catahoula/Hound mix with a heart every bit as big as her personality. This girl has been through more than most dogs ever should - she was shot, and the bullet went through her jaw and ear. She underwent jaw surgery, and as a result, her tongue now hangs out permanently. But Star doesn’t let her past define her. She is pure resilience wrapped in sweetness. Star is incredibly affectionate and so happy-natured. She loves to run, explore, and play, but she also knows how to wind down and melt into you for snuggles - the perfect balance of fun and companionship. She enjoys car rides and would make a wonderful adventure buddy for someone who wants a loyal co-pilot by their side. She’s very smart, already knows “sit,” and uses the doggie door like a total pro. Star is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find the family who will love her for the amazing, one-of-a-kind girl she is. If you’re looking for a dog with a beautiful soul and an even more beautiful spirit, Star is your girl.

Story
adoption donation : $599 weight 38lbs Age 6 months       Charlie is a sweet and friendly girl who loves everyone she meets. She was found abandoned at a truckstop in a rural part of Mississippi and luckily rescued by Wags. At the rescue, she is having a blast running and playing with all the dogs, she just loves other pups! In the house, she is mellow and chill and loves to follow her Foster Mom around.  Charlie has been spayed and vaccinated and is ready to travel to the northeast as soon as the weekend of August 9th. Charlie is housebroken at Wags but like any rescue pup will likely need some training as she adjusts to a new home. She has beautiful and appeared to be a Catahola Leopard dog, very common in Mississippi and known to be very smart and loving dogs. Charlie is just the best, she will  make a wonderful  member of the family.    Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter. Most of our dogs are in Mississippi and come up by Transport, dogs are listed along the Transport route or in an area where we may have volunteers who can help transport the dogs. We do have some of our dogs in foster homes in the northeast, we always need foster homes! For more information on adopting any of our Wags dogs please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com      July 24, 2025, 7:42 am

Story
Adoption Donation  $    299      Located:  RI  (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: est. DOB 8/21/24   Weight: 65 lbs. Meet Chevy aka Puddles  This sweet 1-year-old pup is goofy and smart all in one beautiful package.  He does have some quirks that have kept him from winning over his own family. Chevy has stranger-danger and does not meet new people well. He does take a couple meets before he feels comfortable. He barks and guards his soul so none of those pesky human strangers can steal it.  If you can get past his quirk, I promise, this dog is one amazing friend. We all love him here in his foster home. He does currently live with kids and a baby but because of his quirky ways, I would feel better if he went to an adult only, experienced home.  He gets along great with the other dogs in my home besides the occasional toy scruffle. We don't know how he would be with cats.  He does bark and growl at strangers so a low traffic home would be best and a fenced yard is a must because it will take Chevy time to trust his new human and probably won't feel safe with a stranger walking him right away. Puddles is currently working with a trainer.  Come visit Puddles in his foster home any time just promise not to steal his soul.   *** As part of the adoption donation this pup will participate in FOA's spay/neuter program or other programs available through FOHA. All puppies will have age appropriate vaccinations.  All small Pups need to be adopted by by children old enough to understand how to be respectful and gentle in handling a small young pup. ***     If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website   www.fohari.org and email my foster parent for more information:    reginasfosterdogs@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.       Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc.
