Story
Marley has spent almost two years waiting for something most dogs are given without question — a home. Born around February, 2023, this strikingly handsome Catahoula mix boy has grown up in a shelter, watching the world move past him while he stays behind in a kennel run. It’s hard to understand how a dog so joyful, so loving, and so eager to connect has been overlooked for so long.  Maybe it's because he isn't in a big city where people frequent the local shelter looking a dog to love.  Marley is in a very rural ,out of the way shelter that few people come to. Marley is the kind of dog who lights up when someone notices him. He is friendly, social, and genuinely happy just to be included. He gets along well with other dogs and older children, and his favorite thing in the world is simply being part of the moment — whether that means splashing in water, running around outside, or settling in as your loyal couch companion. Time has softened Marley in the best ways. While he still has a playful spirit, he’s matured into a wonderfully balanced dog who knows how to enjoy both adventure and quiet companionship. He leans into affection, seeks out closeness, and gives love freely — the kind of love that feels steady, sincere, and deeply comforting. What Marley is missing isn’t training or potential — it’s belonging. He deserves a family who sees him not as another face in a kennel, but as a best friend waiting patiently for his turn. A home where he can stretch his legs, rest his head on your lap, and finally understand that he’s safe and chosen. Marley is sweet. He is beautiful. He is ready. He has already waited long enough. He deserves more than a kennel. He deserves mornings in a home, evenings with his head in your lap, and a life where he's finally chosen. If you're looking for a dog who will meet you with joy, loyalty, and an open heart every single day... Marley Is still at the shelter, still hoping, and still ready to go home. Even if all you can do is foster him while Critter Cavalry searches for a home, please consider the option to free him. All he needs is someone to look at him and say, you’re coming home with me. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Please consider Marley and changing his life from a kennel run to a soft dog bed laying at your feet. Don't hesitate to contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.January 26, 2026, 6:54 pm

Story
Name: Buzz Breed: Catahoula/Australian Shepherd Mix Age/Sex: 1.5 years; Male Weight: approximately 50lbs Medical: up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: 10+ Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Alabama Buzz was abandoned before going to a high kill shelter where he was also risking not making out, which is amazing given just how sweet of a pup he is! This is something that is important to remember, shelters are so stressful for these dogs that they do not always show their best sides as they are just pushed beyond what they can handle. Since he was broke out from the pokie, we find that he is truly a happy-go-lucky baby. He does not bark in his crate. He is very independent; however, he simply has to say “hello” to everyone he meets! Which includes giving hugs and kisses. He loves barking at people and dogs when he sees them for the first time. And unfortunately, sometimes jumping! He loves jumping. This we are working on. He prefers not to share his crate or food with dogs. He is not food or toy aggressive towards people. He loves playing with other dogs, but he does love his private stash of belongings in his crib. So, he just asks for respect. He loves treats and toys. He has A LOT of energy and is a touch hyper. He loves walking and hiking. He does pull slightly when walking and is learning how to walk nicely. Buzz is a wonderful dog if you need a buddy in the car. He loves traveling in the vehicle with you and is the best co-pilot you could ever ask for! Buzz would be wonderful for an active family that loves hiking, climbing, and traveling. Story
Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog Age: 4 years Weight: 75 lb Dogs: Yes; no small dogs Cats: No; Including Chickens Kids: Yes Crate Trained : Yes House Trained : Yes Location: Warren, ME Shadow is everything that you read about Catahoula Leopard dogs. He loves his family but has energy that is endless! He loves to play, but he would be just fine being the only dog in the home, if you gave him a job! He is also the true essence of his name; he loves to be your Shadow! Shadow has lived his whole life with this one family and unfortunately, due to life events that have nothing to do with him, he needs to be rehomed. This will be tough for him, so he will need a new family that understands the breed and knows this is not a ready-made dog; due to the pandemic he has missed some key socialization periods and has not seen as much as some dogs and the world is still scary to him! Shadow is a true cuddle bunny with people and does love to play with other dogs. Little dogs will not be an option but if you have a dog that like to play and kids that like to cuddle this boy will be your boy for sure! He is very strong on leash but walks with respect. We do require you have Catahoula knowledge for this sweet boy. Story
Name: Socks Breed: Catahoula Mix Age/Sex: 3 yrs old +/-, SF Weight: 60 lbs Medical: Up to Date and vaccinations, spayed, wormed, microchipped, Treated for Heartworm and now Negative Cat Friendly: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Older 8+ Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Wisconsin Miss Socks is the sweetest little goofball. She had a hard start, but you wouldn’t know it. From wriggling down the hill in the yard on her back to the cute snorts she makes sniffing a particularly interesting patch of grass and the tail wags so big she hits herself on both sides, she is sure to keep her forever family smiling. When the fun is over, she likes nothing better than to snuggle up with her people on the couch. Socks is very good in the house. She is house broken, crate trained and only chews on what’s appropriate. She knows several useful commands such as “crate”, “sit ”,“collar up”, “potty” “back up”, “wait” and just for fun “spin”. She is showing great improvement on leash manners and not counter surfing. Socks is a people pleaser and very food motivated so training is easy. She has done very well at doggie daycare, the vet’s office, and loves car rides. While she is an active little girl her exercise requirements can be easily met with a daily walk and some playtime. She has shown nothing but patience and kindness with her foster siblings - both canine and feline. She would love a low-key canine playmate but would do fine as an only fur kid. Even more than the other pups she loves her people and wants to stay close. Socks is looking for a happy forever home where her goofiness and kindness can shine, and she can get all the pets and snuggles she deserves. Montana Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix Age: 3Y +/-, Female Weight: 45 pds Medical: UTD on all vaccines, Spayed, microchipped Cat Friendly: Yes; likes to chase and play Dog Friendly: Yes; no small dogs Kid Friendly: Ages 6+ (Shy at first and then warms up) Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Georgia Montana a 3-year Catahoula mix female. She is high energy and would do best with medium to large dogs. She gets excited to see small dogs and can be a bit overwhelming for them. She is curious about cats but has not tried to pull my arm off to chase them. She is learning to walk on the leash and not jump and doing very well meeting others on a trail. She rides well in the car and will lay down when we are having dinner. She is learning manners, and she is intelligent and wants to make you happy. She does like to challenge you as a trainer and knowing how to be a leader and using positive reinforcement is a must! She can be mouthy when excited and we are working on the alligator inside! She is good in her crate waiting to go potty when she gets out in the morning. Boredom has caused her to tear up her bed in her crate on a stormy day when she couldn’t go out in her yard but she has not destroy her bed outside. Experience with this breed as well as time and patience will produce an excellent companion in this sweet girl. She needs a job and people who love her.
