Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. Welcome Apollo to CCPAL Rescue. Apollo is a 12 month old lab/Black Mouth Cur or Shepherd mix dog. He weighs about 40 pounds and has now been moved into the rescue from the Samaritan that found him. She found the entire litter of puppies and has fostered them until we had space. We have already adopted out 4 of this litter. Milo is one of their brothers. Apollo and his brother Orion are very lucky to now be in the rescue. They will get daily interaction with people and a nice routine so they can get used to structure. They were found by a very nice woman but she was too busy to work with the pups. They were and are well cared for but we will be working on leash manners and getting into a daily routine. It is amazing what attention and direction does for a dog. Apollo is good with other dogs. He has lived mostly outdoors but now is getting used to being in a kennel and doing some leash walk training. Apollo is a large dog but on the smaller side of large. He is a little shy at the moment but I do think he will do what all the others in this litter have done, blossom. He could be with children. We like them to be 8 or older. Apollo would be a great walking partner and right now his best home is someone who wants a companion. He would love one on one attention and direction. He responds well and bonds deeply to his human. Welcome Kota to CCPAL Rescue. Kota is a 6-month-old and weighs about 30 pounds. He is a Lab/German Shepherd. He should be about 50 or 60 pounds full grown. He should be a large dog full grown. He is cuddly, social and likes attention and being held. These were in foster care until they were vaccinated and ready to come to the rescue. They have had lots of attention from humans which is wonderful. It creates a wonderful puppy that loves humans and their attention. These puppies are smart, soft coats and most have the lab personality with the smartness of the Malinois. They would be great family pets. They can go with children and should be good with them. We like the children to be 8 or older. Puppies are best with people that are home some and not gone 8 hours every day to work. Kota will need to finish up his puppy training, and it would be best if he gets to spend time with his human so he can bond deeply with them. Kota is playing in his play group of 6 puppies. The boys are all bigger than the girls. He also gets to play outside in his play group and does well in a group. These puppies have webbed feet and should be good swimmers. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the east Coast. He can hear a pin drop from across the house, especially if that pin sounds like food. He is a world&#226&#128&#145class chow hound who believes every meal is a sacred event and every treat is a personal blessing. He’s a gentle, mellow guy who spends most of his day perfecting his craft: sleeping. When he’s awake, he becomes your slow&#226&#128&#145moving shadow, following you around with the dedication of a very sleepy bodyguard. He loves sniffing the yard, taking leisurely walks, and performing his highly dramatic poop&#226&#128&#145spot circling ritual. He takes it very seriously. Pops is also a master of passive resistance. Ask him to do something he doesn’t feel like doing, and he will instantly transform into 70 pounds of immovable, floppy, dead weight. Steps? Suspicious. Ramps? Terrifying. Rugs that are slightly crooked? Absolutely not. But give him a soft bed, a belly rub, or a doggy massage, and he melts like butter. He’s partially blind, partially deaf, a little wobbly, and needs daily meds for his old man joints, but he’s wonderfully compliant for it. He’s great in the shower, loves car rides (even if getting in is a whole production), and will happily nap near your feet while you cook or do dishes. He doesn’t play with toys much, but he enjoys a good nylabone and loves sniff&#226&#128&#145and&#226&#128&#145search games with scattered kibble. He’s potty trained with a schedule, sleeps through the night like a champ, and is perfectly content hanging out in his own room when you’re gone. Pops would thrive as an only dog or with a calm, non&#226&#128&#145pushy companion. He’s sweet, quirky, stubborn, and endlessly lovable—a gentle old man who just wants a soft bed, a steady routine, and someone who appreciates his slow&#226&#128&#145motion charm.
