You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) for an Adoption Event on Sunday April 28th 11:45 am-12:45 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   DOB:  08/08/2018 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: No, has high prey-drive Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, respectful kids, yes Weight: 58 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  no, but working on leash training Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello, my name is Ivy. I am a lovely young adult female Lab/Shepherd mix who loves eating all treats (who doesn’t LOL!!), tearing stuffed toys apart, sleeping and hunting squirrels. Foster mom says I am in charge of the backyard activity and do my best to keep the squirrels out of the yard. I would love a fenced in yard to explore, but also love going for walks, so it's not required as long as you promise we can take some short walks each day! As you have probably already figured out, I have a high prey drive, so small kids and cats are not a good fit for me. Ok, truth be told, I don’t “hunt” the kids, just the cats but still, I am not crazy about those quick moving kids.  If they were older and respectful, I think we would be besties! I am very friendly with people, but I am a bit wary of dogs that I meet on my walks. I sometimes growl and bark at the neighbor dog or if something alarms me. However, I do fine with other dogs if there is no barrier between us and I have gotten along with all the dogs who have come to visit my home. My mom fosters other dogs and has friends that visit with dog, and we all get along great. I am crate and potty trained and working on leash training. At times I am a bit loud when on the leash and will yell at other dogs. Although I enjoy pulling on the leash, foster mom is trying to help me learn that she is the leader on our walks not me…she’s so silly, she doesn’t know me at ALL!!! I am super smart girl! I know what to do when mom says “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “outside,” “go potty,” and “off.” Alright, if you REALLY must know, I learned the “off” command because I tend to jump on people when I get excited…I mean c’mon, seriously is it really that bad?? Mom has made it clear, by saying “off” and gently using her knee, that jumping on people is frowned upon in this establishment.  Anyway, mom says that I “must have had training before” because I am the “easiest foster” she’s “ever had” and that’s quite a compliment! But I would really benefit from additional training to continue learning new things like safe leash walking and maybe some tricks! My trip from a Texas shelter to MN was an adventure. When I arrived in MN my friends at Underdog discovered I was heartworm positive and I have finished the treatment and now I just dream of finding a furever home with a patient person who will shower me with unconditional love and will not give up on me. If you are looking for a wonderful companion who can’t wait to snuggle on the couch or bed, then we need to meet. I promise I will love you more than you can imagine!! Love, Ivy.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Regina found herself unwanted and surrendered in West Texas. She is good with other dogs, kids and cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Gigi is perfection. Sweet and loving, she can't get enough attention, kisses, or pets. She gets along with other dogs and is good with kids but would do better with older kids. If you're having a lazy day she will cuddle all day long. If you're full of energy, she'll keep right up with you. She will be your best friend and stick to you like glue.  She's shown a little bit of human resource guarding or protective nature. She would do good with an experienced dog owner.  She loves to play with her two foster brothers and she doesn't let them get the better of her. She will entertain herself with toys or play for ages with other dogs. She's feisty, sweet, and full of love to give. She is very treat motivated and eager to learn new things.   She's great on a leash, but she does get distracted by squirrels or other small animals. Simply remind her to 'look at me' and attention goes back to you. If she sounds perfect for you, please submit an application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 27, 2024, 7:27 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chickadee and her siblings Finch and BlueBird found themselves unwanted and dumped at a Vet Clinic in West Texas. They were bound for the high kill shelter if we did not say yes.  They were brought in with injuries and thankful they are all healed up and healthy.  Ready for their forever homes.  They are good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.  Chickadee can be slow to warm up to strangers but has been going to dog friendly events and is getting better with her shyness of strangers. This beautiful girl is potty and crate trained. She gets along with other dogs and loves to run and tumble with her foster dog brothers. She has been exposed few short times to cats and seems to have a healthy respect towards them. She has stayed a a home with a 5 & 7 year old and she loves the kids. Chickadee once she gets to know you( which does not take long) is a loving and loyal dog. She likes to learn and would be a fun dog to take to dog school. Chickadee spent a week as an only dog in a home with 2 young boys and did very well with them. The following from the family that watched her for that week: My family had the pleasure of watching Chickadee for a week in March. I was expecting Chickadee to take at least a couple of days to settle in, but she seemed comfortable and content after just a few hours. She was very quiet overall, and I only heard her bark once or twice during her time with us. While at home she loved to curl up on the rug in our living room or sit on a bench in the kitchen so she could look outside. She also enjoyed lounging on the bed in my sons’ room and seemed to want to be where we were hanging out. We weren’t sure how Chickadee would do with younger children (ages 5 and 6) since she hadn’t spent much time around kids, but the boys instantly took to her and she to them. She allowed them to hug, kiss, and pet her and was tolerant of their high energy and near constant movement. It was fun to witness their bond develop throughout Chickadee’s visit. Chickadee did great on walks around the neighborhood. She didn’t pay much attention to people or pups walking past. She did warm up to folks at the bus stop after a day or so and showed more confidence when around them. She also loved hanging out in our fenced-in backyard. She found a spot right in the middle of our garden-area where she would plop down and nap in the sun. We had a snowstorm at the end of Chickadee’s stay and she seemed to equally love the  If she's what you have been looking for, please put in your application on our website https://mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 27, 2024, 7:27 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I’m on the hunt for a very special loving home who is willing to work diligently with my confidence.  I’m extremely shy and am much braver on the outside than I am on the inside.  I love my kennel as I use it as my safe space.  When I feel nervous or unsure, I retreat there and hide. I’m very, very sweet and still learning all about receiving love and affection and I do like it!  I do enjoy hanging out with people but I also have a mischievous side when I think you’re not looking.  Away from home is hard for me.  I am so nervous and freeze with anxiety.  I will bolt if I get the chance.  So I will need a fenced yard as even leashes are new.  I am 99% potty training when on a schedule and am clearly crate trained, since that’s where I feel the most safe.  But I do know some commands like “sit, outside, go potty.” If you say “in” by my kennel, that’s when I know you want me to get inside.  So I’m super smart!  I would love to have another confident dog in my forever home to help me learn how to be a dog and teach me all the things.  You’ll find me to be loving, gentle, shy, sweet and absolutely precious.  But if you are patient enough to help me over my anxieties, I promise to reward you with all the love and affection you expect from a dog . *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm  Candycorn !  I'm a beautiful lady who came into rescue with some secret cargo in my tummy.  I was a good mama and raised my babies and sent them all on to new homes.  Now it's my turn!  With new people and in new places I'll admit I get nervous and I either find a safe corner to hide in or I'll possibly bark.  At home with my foster mama where I'm familiar with things I'm a completely different dog.  I have the bestest happy smile, my tail doesn't stop wagging and I get the cutest dance and zoomies.  I gently jump against my fosters mamas leg so she can give me hugs and kisses.  Sometimes I kiss back!  When she stops I gently put my paw on her arm so she knows I want more.  I also love when she gives me chin and cheek scratches and I should probably mention tummy rubs are great too.     I get along great with all dogs and like to chase and wrestle when they're my friends.  I would do best having a doggie sibling in my new home so they can help me learn the routine in my new home and help me be more confident.     At home I am learning to walk on leash.  It's going great since I trust my foster mom.  It's fun jumping around in the grass and feeling the sun shine down on my face and the wind in my fur.  I haven't pottied on leash yet for her, but I do know that I should do all my business a fenced area so I do request one in my home.   I am kennel trained and I never potty in it.  I'm too smart for that!  I'm usually quiet in it too.  I know it's a safe spot when I need it too, though I prefer to be out hanging around my mom's feet instead.  When she's working I'm usually laying under her desk close to her in case she needs me.  You get treats there and pets haha!   I really like toys!  The soft ones are my favorite to chew on. I never had toys before rescue. I don't always like to share them, but I've learned mom will trade me for them and she'll gently play tug of war with me.     I haven't met any kids yet, but I think I'd be ok with older respectful kids who would be kind and gentle with me.  Fast movement and loud noises are overwhelming and I don't want to get scared and have to run and hide.  A quiet home where I can be a spoiled princess would be awesome.     Come and meet me and I promise you'll find that with a little time to learn that I'm safe and can trust you with my heart that you'll find a loving and loyal family member in me that will love you unconditionally! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.
