Story
Mickey is a nice size dog weighing in at 18 pounds. He is a total lap dog and loves to give kisses. Our best guess for breed is chihuahua and shiba inu. He loves to play with other dogs but would make a great only dog too. He has not been around young children, but definitely cannot be with cats. He is potty trained, crates well, and walks good on a leash. Mickey is a character and would be a good fit in most homes. Mickey's $300 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and prevention, flea/tick prevention, and microchip registration. Please apply at gfrpets.org/apply/adoptdog/ ##2155344##

Story
Dallas is a sweet, gentle and timid guy, who came to us very underweight from a hoarding situation. All he wants is love and attention. His foster mom says "Dallas is an annoying little guy who want to be held all the time and sleeps on my head, along with sticking his tongue in my mouth at any random opportunity". She actually loves him, lol. He's doing well using potty pads. Dallas is about 3 years old and came to us at 6 pounds, but needs to gain a couple pounds.  Are you looking for your very own free loader? How about someone to dress up on game day to keep you company? Do you need someone to share your bed each night and keep your lap warm during the day? How about an occasional kiss (with tongue) while you’re trying to talk? I have the perfect 3 year old lil man for you. Weighing in at just 10# Dallas is the perfect size.  Dallas came from a hoarding case, he will act scared to death for about 24 hours, then he will be sitting on your head before you know it.  Because they have never being outside previously, potty training will take continued work. Belly bands will help with this. He will also need to be leash walked until the full trust/ bond is formed because he will be a flight risk in the beginning, and Chihuahuas can find the smallest opening in a fence and squeeze out. If you're ready for your new best friend apply for Dallas. Dallas's $300 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and prevention, flea/tick prevention, and microchip with registration. Story
Houston is learning that humans bring all of the good things in the world. Houston came from a home with 27 other dogs. He has been slower to warm up than his brother and the world is scary and makes him nervous. He needs a quiet home with lots of patience and kindness to help this sweet boy be all he can be. He is using the potty pad consistently and is seeking his foster humans for comfort and reassurance. He has come a long way in a short time and will be a wonderful companion with a loving and secure home. He is about 1 years old and came to us at 12 pounds, but needs to gain a couple pounds. Houston is good with dogs and cats, children are overwhelming for him so an adult only home would be best. Houston's $300 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and prevention, flea/tick prevention, and microchip with registration. Story
Monty is currently enjoying his time in a foster home! Monty's foster mom says:Monty is a grumpy old man, but with a lot of love still to give. He gives sweet little kisses but grumbles when I kiss him. He loves burrowing under blankets. He has been a picky eater and since he was so skinny, I'm spoiling him with hamburger and chicken. Part of that may have been his dental issues with abscessed teeth which are now resolved. He is a screamer when you try to do things he doesn't like - putting on his collar or his sweater. Makes me think he has been abused before and screams when he is scared. As he gets more secure in feeling safe, I hope that resolves. He comes when called inside and outside. He is mostly potty trained but has marked since he wasn't neutered. He will have accidents if not taken out every couple hours. Puppy pads help during the day.Monty is on Keppra to manage seizures, so that will have to factor into your decision if interested in adopting!Adoption Fee: $ 75Estimated Date of Birth: UnknownIntake Reason: transfer from agencyAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Full and current vaccination schedule and medical records along with any behavioral disclosures will be provided at time of adoption.

Story
Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Now be an obedient first mate, and use those big paws to fill out an application and come work for me... your trustworthy Skipper. Sound like a match for you? Then, please apply: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Story
Bugsy Malone is a chiweenie (Chihuahua/dachshund) who is 8-pounds and 7-years-old. Bugsy has the typical big Doxie voice, so he shouldn't go anywhere with shared walls (I.e apartments, condos). He likes to cuddle, will play with other small dogs and toys, watch television while in your lap, walks well on a leash, and likes to cruise around in the car with you. But, he needs a really secure harness as he is a Houdini with many harnesses. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $295. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state.
