Whether he`s zooming around your backyard like they`re laps at Talladega, Ricky Bobby brings non-stop excitement wherever he goes. He`s got the heart of a champion and the spirit of a wild card – kind of like his namesake. He`s working on his obedience – and with a little training (and maybe some Shake and Bake motivation), he’ll be a total winner.

Story
Meet PD, a 10 year old Chihuahua. He is a spicy little character with a big personality! He's got a strong will and a lot of love to give, on his own terms, of course. It may take him a little while to like you after he meets you as he is very particular about his humans. This little guy is fully potty trained! He has never had a single accident in his foster home. His favorite things are his people, his furry foster brother, belly scratches, being the boss of his household, and his twice a day treats (the only way he takes his medication). PD has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart and a heart murmur, requiring daily medication. Also has kidney concerns which are maintained on a prescription kidney-support diet. He would also benefit from losing some weight (he's quite chunky) with light exercise. It will be beneficial for his overall health. PD does not like dogs bigger than he is. He also does not like when his foster brother is getting attention and he isn't, or when someone gets to close while he is on your lap (he can be a bit possessive with his people). This special guy needs a calm and loving home that does not have a lot of new people coming around. He can be very spicy towards new people as he is very protective of his family. His furever family must also be willing to continue caring for his medical needs. He's been the bestest boy in his foster home. PD's $300 adoption fee covers his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, deworming medication, and microchip registration. Story
Say Hello to Nina! She is a very sweet 6# 1 year old Chihuahua. She is loved by everyone that meets her. She will sit on your lap for a very long time, or play with other small dogs, she is however not a fan of big dogs, and if you know Chihuahuas they can have attitudes. She does well sharing with the other dogs but occasionally will grumble when other dogs try to eat from the bowl she is eating from. She was surrendered by her owner along with her sister to a local animal control. She is still learning this potty training thing but doing very well. She will go out when the other dogs go out, and will usually use the potty pad if I'm not paying attention. Accidents should be expected as she learns new places. She currently sleeps in our bedroom and sometimes even in our bed. Her $300 adoption fee covers her spay, vaccines, deworming medication, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives and microchip with registration. https://gfrpets.org/apply/adoptdog/ ##2380630##

Story
Meet our awesome foster dog Percy (Turkey at TAPS). Percy is a 8 1/2 year old Chihuahua mix. He initially came to TAPS in July of 2022 along with my dog Maynard. They came out of a hoarding situation of over 70 dogs. Both have adjusted so well since then. We appreciate all the work Percy's previous Mom put into making sure he was socialized. I was fostering Percy with the hope that his Mom would rehab from some health issues, but with heavy hearts we found out she passed away this week. Now we are searching for the right forever home for Percy. He is a happy dog that sometimes has to be enticed to eat his dog food, but loves treats. He has been in our foster home for 4 months and has adjusted well. He is easy to care for. He likes attention and belly rubs, but may also disappear under the bed or in the laundry basket. He is potty trained and does great with my small and large dogs. If you think you might be able to give Percy a happy ending of a forever home apply at: tapsshelter.org

Story
This cutie is Bo! He is a timid but incredibly sweet 6-year-old chihuahua that is very scared at the shelter. He might take a minute or so to warm up, but then will curl right up in your lap for reassurance and affection. He tested positive for heartworm at intake so he will need to undergo treatment, but he is eligible for a foster home (or even the ability to foster, intending to adopt). Go to tapssheleter.org to apply.
