Story
Meet McDreamy — a 12-pound Chihuahua who is exactly as charming as his name suggests. This little guy arrived with a painful eye condition and, once it was removed, he blossomed into the happiest, winking ray of sunshine you’ll ever meet. He's somewhere between 6-9 years old (best guess for this former stray). Like any self-respecting Chihuahua, McDreamy may bark or grumble when he meets someone new — but give him a minute and he’s melting into your arms, wagging his tail like a tiny propeller, and demanding snuggles as if you’ve been best friends forever. McDreamy’s vibe with other dogs: • Small dogs: “You’re cool. Let’s hang.” • Big dogs: “I decline.” He’s not a fighter, but he won’t back down if another dog brings the drama, so a home without an alpha-type resident is ideal. He’s affectionate, clever, deeply cuddly, and—bonus—housebroken. A tidy little gentleman through and through. Everything is exciting to McDreamy: • 🍽️ Mealtime: Pure joy. • 🌳 Walks: Peak adventure. • 🛌 Burrowing under the blankets: Nightly bliss. • 🎾 Toys: Big fan. Loves all of them. Will proudly parade them around like trophies. He asks for love almost instantly in neutral territory, snuggles like a pro, sleeps under the covers like it’s his life’s calling, and leans into you with total trust. He is currently getting daily ointment in his remaining eye, which he tolerates quite well, and may need it for the foreseeable future. If you’re looking for a pint-sized sweetheart who will adore you, follow you everywhere, and fill your home with wiggly, affectionate joy, McDreamy is ready to sweep you off your feet. 💕🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about McDreamy, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog McDreamy is in Somerville, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Olivia — an 8-pound Chihuahua mystery wrapped in a tiny burrito of feelings. 🌯✨ At just 1 year old, this pint-sized lady has already lived a whole saga. She was found as a stray here in Massachusetts, and whatever her past was… whew. It left her a little shaken, a lot cautious, and currently running on “Trust Issues: Deluxe Edition.” But here’s the thing: underneath that brave little exterior is a sweetheart desperate to let someone in. She wants to bond. She wants to love. She just needs someone patient enough to let her unfold like a shy flower with very sharp petals. 🌸😬 Right now, Olivia is staying in a lively foster home—kids zooming, visitors popping in, dogs everywhere, cats supervising from high shelves. She does fine, but it’s definitely sensory overload for a delicate soul who’d prefer a quiet home where the loudest thing is maybe… a soft sneeze. Here’s the Olivia Starter Pack: 💛 Reserved — Think: “introvert who doesn’t want to network.” 💛 Will follow you around like a silent, suspicious shadow. 💛 Will bite if she doesn’t know you — boundaries are important, ok? 💛 Slow to warm up — Foster mom needed 3 weeks to earn snuggle access. 💛 Absolute angel with the resident 6-year-old — kids with calm vibes = A+. 💛 Forgets who you are every time — she does friendship on “Groundhog Day mode.” Olivia needs: 🏡 A peaceful, low-traffic home 🧘 A patient human who understands trauma and tiny dog logic ❤️ Someone who celebrates progress, no matter how small ⏳ A willingness to let her take her sweet time learning you’re safe If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in gentle victories — the first tail wag, the first relaxed nap near you, the first time she remembers your face for two interactions in a row — Olivia will reward you with a bond that’s deep, loyal, and incredibly special. She may be small, but her journey is big — and she’s ready to start the next chapter with a human who sees her worth. 💕🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Olivia, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Olivia is being fostered in Milford, MA. Story
Winnie is sweet and lively, following you around with a happy prance in her step. She’s quiet and snuggly but also curious and confident. Oh yeah, Winnie is blind – but don’t tell her that! She easily navigates her home once she has it all mapped out. She loves her daily walks down the road with you on the leash and sniffing around the yard. Winnie doesn’t require more care than any other dog would. She's in good health and can be left alone at home. She’s smart and adaptable…especially when there’s a treat involved! Her Social Preferences: • She wants to get to know everyone…unless you’re a cat! • She enjoys the calm company of smaller, mellow dogs. • She’s polite but not thrilled about rowdy, bigger pups. Winnie is looking for a forever home where she can soak up all the love, go on easy outside adventures, and keep her snacking practice going strong. If you’re looking for a loving companion with a gentle spirit and a lively sense of inquisitiveness —Winnie is your girl. Story
Meet Amos, the 6.8-pound Chihuahua who may be small in size but comes fully loaded with premium personality features. Though he seemed a little unsure at first, it turns out he was simply decompressing. Now that he’s settled in, he’s all sweetness: he barely barks even with contractors around, climbed onto a house visitor's lap within minutes, and welcomed scratches from the visiting father-in-law like an old friend. Once you’re in his cuddle circle, Amos is pure delight. At the first meeting, Amos may give you a polite “Ah hem, I do NOT approve” growl if you attempt nonsense like harnesses, wipes, or—Heaven forbid—sweaters. (Seriously. Don’t even try. He will file a formal complaint.) It’s best to respect his boundaries. Check in with Amos’s foster mom for more details. But here’s the magic: Give him 24 hours, some space, and let him decide you’re worthy—and suddenly he’s ready for full-time snuggle sessions. He loves curling up on or right next to his humans. And he’s not picky! He happily distributes his affection among adults, tweens, and husbands alike. More Amos perks: • Car ride pro: Sits politely and doesn’t judge your playlist. • Sleeps through the night because he respects your REM cycle. • Housebroken— Foster mom reports he’s had zero accidents since arriving. • Knows the important words: “food” and “potty.” What else is there, really? • Dog compatible: Totally chill with his foster sibling. • Kid friendly-ish: He’d do best with respectful kids 10+ who understand “tiny dog, big boundaries.” He does have a congenital defect in his right paw (doesn’t bother him one bit) and a mild collapsing trachea, but neither slows down his ability to demand cuddles, enjoy life, or snooze adorably. He’s already had his dental and neuter done in Texas—so he’s ready for his New England retirement-with-snacks era. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart, a little sass, excellent house manners, and world-class snuggle potential… Amos is your guy.
