Story
Mr. Tilly is a 12lb, exceptionally shy pup looking for a home who will help him adjust to a new life. Please read his entire bio before reaching out to the shelter. He is looking for an adult home only. Due to Mr. Tilly's shy personality, he is looking for a quiet home environment, and would not be suited to large apartment complexes at this time. He will require multiple meets at the shelter with patient, adult adopters able to visit him at WARL  before he is ready to go to a new home. In his case, his shyness and fear of new people could cause him to snap at people who reach out to touch him before he is ready. Mr. Tilly is looking for a home as an only dog. This shy guy is looking for just the right fit, in a quiet home with gentle people who can appreciate how tough it can be to be left wandering, as he was found as a stray in Worcester with no owner coming forward to claim him. Mr. Tilly has trouble bonding with new people, but is lovely with the staff who care for him. He does not want to be petted or picked up by new people, just given some space to observe and relax without being overwhelmed by attention. Mr. Tilly does have complex medical needs that will require an adopter able to provide him with ongoing veterinary care.  Once Mr. Tilly makes friends, he is very sweet and bouncy, and needs folks who understand dog body language and also don't require a dog to instantly adore them. If you are interested in meeting Mr. Tilly, please fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry Form to request a meet with him. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you!

Story
Are you ready to open your heart to a senior furry friend in need? Meet Buddy, an 8 lb chihuahua mix with lanky legs that hint at a possible greyhound heritage. Affectionately nicknamed “Elliott the Littlest Reindeer” by his foster mom, Buddy's unique posture and gait are due to arthritis in his back legs. Found in a construction site, Buddy's exact age is unknown, but he's estimated to be around 10 years old. Despite his health challenges, Buddy is as mild-mannered and loving as they come. He may grumble if another dog disturbs his nap, but overall he gets along well with other dogs and would likely do fine with a cat that respects his space. Buddy does have some special health needs, including kidney issues that require a special diet and daily medication, but he's an absolute joy to have around. He loves nothing more than following his person, snuggling under the covers, and going for walks. And while he may bark when someone new comes to the door, it's the most unobtrusive bark you'll ever hear. Buddy truly is a gem, and he's looking for the right person or family to stick with him through his golden years. Buddy is scheduled to have dental surgery due to severe gum disease on Aug 15th and will be ready for adoption after that. ****************** If you are interested in finding out more about Buddy - please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Buddy is being fostered in Worcester county. Story
Meet Betty, the 15-pound, 8-year-old Chihuahua with a heart as big as her love for napping. This little lady lost her beloved human, and she's on the lookout for a new snuggle buddy. She’s already claimed her foster's bed, so if you're adopting her, prepare to share! She’s great with other dogs, cool with cats, and would totally vibe with more savvy kids. She's got a quirky relationship with stairs—zips up them like an athlete but going down? That's a "hard pass" unless it's an elevator. She’s currently on a fitness journey, shedding a few pounds so she can reach her best Betty self. Pee-pad trained? Check. Walks? Well, sort of. She’s easing into this whole "exercise" thing and her motto is more "short, leisurely stroll" than "power walk". Oh, and after some culinary rehab, she’s finally learning that dog food isn't so bad... when it’s not upstaged by people food.  She’s a little shy with new people and might bark her initial greeting, but once she warms up, she’s all love. Bonus: Betty can be easily scooped up like the tiny princess she is, and lying on the grass is her jam. Fun fact: Betty’s a total Velcro dog. The vets and staff at the clinic adored her so much they carried her around like a doll. If you’re looking for a pint-sized cuddle bug who will fill your life with sweetness and sass, Betty’s your girl. Ready to make this lovebug part of your forever home? ****************** If you are interested in finding out more about Betty - please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Betty is currently being fostered in Shrewsbury, MA. Story
Meet Slinky! Slinky is a 1.5 year old chihuahua mix with the cutest little face. He loves to play - any toy will do! He is fully house trained and up to date on his shots, He does alright in a crate when needed but prefers to be with his people. He is a definite Velcro dog - you will never use the bathroom solo again. His favorite place to be is curled up on your lap on the couch. Slinky gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home but he likes his humans to himself and isn’t afraid to tell other dogs to give him space. The other dogs in his foster home are much larger and he doesn’t like when they are too rowdy, but he enjoys exploring with them outside and doesn’t mind sharing the couch with them. Slinky is working on learning new things including that human arms are not additional toys for him. He needs a patient home that will continue to help him learn boundaries and how to appropriately communicate his feelings. If you are interested in finding out more about Slinky, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Slinky is being fostered in Shirley, MA.
