Name: Trixie and Scrappy Age: 6 and 5 years  Gender: Female and Male  Breed: Chihuahua mix  Weight: 8 lb and 12 lb  Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes  Child friendly: yes, older gentle children, please  House trained: yes Crate trained: yes  Energy level: Moderate  Temperament: loving, playful, tender-spirited  Adoption Fee: $425+tax- fee includes both dogs together To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family:  Trixie and Scrappy are a mother-son pair from  Alabama. Their owner had to give them up through no fault of their own. They are sweethearts and have been very easy fosters. They are potty trained, know the word “potty” and go to the door when they need to go. They must have had a fenced-in yard at their previous home and not go on walks because they are unsure how to walk on a leash. But they are learning! They are crate-trained and sleep together in one kennel through the night. Scrappy likes to play with toys but for the most part, they are just happy to hang out with you on the couch. They love each other very much and do everything together, it feels more like having one super dog than two separate ones. They would love to be in a quiet home where they can shower you with love and keep your lap warm.  Please fill out an application to meet these cuties!   May 3, 2024, 3:30 pm

Story
Name: Cal-Calley Age: 10 years Gender: Male Breed: Chihuahua Weight: 9 lb Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: in progress Crate trained: yes Energy level: low/moderate  Temperament: snuggly lap dog with pops of energy Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $175+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Cal is an absolute love bug who would snuggle all day if given the opportunity. He wants a forever home where people are around most of the time and he is welcome to snuggle on the furniture and in bed. He wiggles and snuggles his way into your arms – if you set him on the couch next to you, the next thing you know, he will be in your arms like a baby or curled up on your lap or side. He is delighted when you come home or for feeding time. He has a sweet and gentle soul and has done very well with our senior dogs, cats, chickens, and 3-year-old nephew when he visits. About Me: Cal was a well-loved Alabama lap dog until his owner passed away. After his owner passed, he was left outside until he was brought to a rescue, which left him temporarily terrified. He was in defense mode, very scared, and took days to warm up to his Alabama foster mom. Thanks to her loving care, he realized he was safe again. She said he was love-starved once he finally warmed up. He has been doing great since arriving in Minnesota on April 14 and is delighted to be with a family again! He is a glue stick and will follow you around the house and yard whenever possible. He appears to have been an indoor-only dog. He is somewhat nervous being outside, and he doesn’t like cold or rainy weather, screaming kids at the playground, bangs or loud noises, or large dogs barking at him. We are working on building his confidence. He appears to have been trained to use potty pads or washable pee pads in the past but is learning to bathroom outside, which he is learning well. He will need continued work on this, including restricted areas of the house and close supervision until he has learned better, regular trips outside, and extra patience when you are outside to wait until he goes to the bathroom. He enjoys walks, so this is a great opportunity to reinforce outside bathrooms and his confidence in being outside. He never learned stairs or how to jump on/off furniture, and takes a lot of carrying to get around, including getting outside at times. He is used to being around people as much as possible. He may have some separation anxiety and tends to whine, howl, or bark when left alone. We have been using a pen for when no one is home as well as a chill-out area when he gets too excited for the other senior dogs in the house or when he won’t bathroom outside but is probably due. He has been sleeping in a bed-side crate at night, although he would prefer to be snuggling in bed instead. He sleeps well on the bed and has no problem making it through the night as long as he is emptied before bedtime. He welcomes clothes, especially for going outside on cold days, and wears a harness to walk to avoid injuries to his tiny neck. May 3, 2024, 3:30 pm

Story
Harper is 6 years old. Are you looking for a playmate for your dog? Harper is your girl. She LOVES tiny little dogs. Those are her favorite. Oh Harper, she is a funny girl. She likes to rearrange blankets and drag them across the room to the pile of toys and bones she has collected. She LOVES to wrestle and play with the dogs in the foster home. She is great with the cat. Harper is potty trained to the doggie door but will also use a potty pad if needed. Harper came from a hoarding case and prefers the company of other dogs more than people. When she has her dog friends around she is confident and will follow you everywhere and is a happy funny girl with tail wagging away. She is semi-feral when it comes to people. She doesn't want people to touch her but she will dance for you with excitement when you get home from work. She has 2 requirements if adopting: Must have a Fence and another dog. The perfect home for Harper is a someone who is ok with a dog who doesn't want to go for walks or in the car. That you are ok with her just being a dog with dog friends. And a fenced yard, doggie door is a plus as she doesn't want you to stand in the doorway for her to go outside. She has been in rescue for 2 years now and has gotten a little chubby. :) Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Email questions to Lori@campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax

Story
Paloma is a loving and playful 8-month-old puppy who loves all the attention. She was found as a stray. She is 13.5 lbs. She loves to play with other dogs, but she can be annoying to some dogs who prefer their space. She plays hard and snuggles hard. She can get jealous when other dogs come near you and not a fan of sharing her human, so we are working on that. She is doing good potty training so long as she is on a schedule, and she gets taken out before you leave anywhere or leave her unattended. She seems to be afraid of bigger dogs and starts barking at dogs who seem to come in her direction...she was picked on by other dogs, so she needs to work on confidence around other dogs and not be fearful she will get attacked. She may need a slow intro with some dogs and take time to warm up to them. She is learning to walk on a leash, she walks but gets excited and into sniffing, so she can be all over the place and tangle around your legs sometimes. If something scares her, she will walk behind your legs, if she spots birds, squirrels, rabbits, she wants to go after them and will pull or yank. She will bark if other dogs bark or if something scares her. She is a Velcro dog who loves to snuggle and be as close to you as possible, giving licks. Trying to teach her some space boundaries so that will need to continue if you don't like dogs giving you lots of kisses. She enjoys playing with toys and loves treats. She likes to pick up and eat things on the ground, so you need to watch that. She is being kennel trained but doesn't like it. I put her in for the night and if I get up without taking her out right away, she will whine till she gets out. During the day she is only in it for a couple hours if no one is home. She is great with cats and kids. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hadler aka Cody has blossomed into an affectionate companion. He gets along wonderfully with dogs of his size. He enjoys lounging on the couch with his human and sleeping in bed near their head. He's kennel trained and delights in playing chase with his canine friends in the backyard, as well as carrying his toys. He's fond of bully sticks, house trained, adept at using the doggy door, and will resort to a potty pad if necessary. He does not engage in marking behavior. Hadler aka Cody, is a rescue from a situation involving 25 small dogs, was extremely fearful upon his rescue a year ago. He was adopted but is now being returned due to the need for a quieter environment with fewer people. He is apprehensive around strangers, which makes his current situation unsuitable. He seeks a peaceful home. He would do best with another social dog in the home. His limited exposure to people in the past means he's still learning how to greet them. He tends to get frightened and bark at newcomers. He's not comfortable around children or certain men, especially when they lean over him. However, he's highly motivated by treats, which helps when meeting new people. He has a quirky personality, and a generally calm demeanor. He is an Excellent companion dog. Hadler (Cody) is also leash trained and really enjoys walks, showing excitement when his harness is brought out. No kids for this guy. For adoption inquiries, visit www.campcompanion.org. The adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

Story
Uno is a complete doll. She is a year old, long legs and around 10 lbs. She is a ball of fun and will make you laugh. But she is also an amazing cuddler. She is know to think your shoulder or neck is where you sit. Uno was found as a stray on the streets of Mexico and her eye was bulging out. Not sure what happened but it was removed. Uno loves everyone under the sun. She is social and very friendly. She LOVES to run races in the back yard. She is still puppyish and nibbles on your hand to play. We are working on that but something to think about if you have small kids. She does like kids. She is kennel trained, potty trained and can walk on a leash. She will do well in any home, if she gets some exercise. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Meet Oreo Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Oreo. Oreo is 5 years of age. She is a breeder-release. She is a Black & White Pomeranian. She is cautious when meeting new people and situations. She will approach her human. She has not been socialized thoroughly with humans, but she does get along with other dogs. Because she is a breeder-release, with will require more time to adapt to an in-home life. She is crated at night and keeps her bedding clean. She loves to run in a fenced yard...who wouldn't? It was a first for her to touch the ground and run freely upon coming into rescue. She will, with time, patience and love, make a perfect family pet. We are looking for a family with at least one parent who works from home or is a stay-at-home pet parent. When transitioning to a new home, please allow 6--10-6 weeks for Oreo to adjust. She will need this time to decompress and adjust to a new routine, schedule, and environment. During this time, we will provide check-ins and suggestions to ensure a successful transition. We take finding the right homes for our furbabies very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best. Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in Oreo, adoption applications can be filled out and submitted on our website: almosthomefoster.com
