Story
Meet Onix, a beautiful black mix with a gentle spirit and a big heart. At just five months old, he already weighs about 18 pounds and has the sweetest long legs that make him stand out. Onix’s mom, Cinnamon, came to our rescue with him. He’s wonderful with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and would likely do well with cats too. Onix is a happy, easygoing pup who loves to play and will make a wonderful companion. He is shy and doesn't walk on a leash yet. He is house broken and kennel trained. Highly suggest a securely fenced yard. Apply to adopt at CampCompanion.org 💲 Adoption fee is $350 plus tax

Story
Molly is a 1 year old 11 pound chihuahua that came from a horrific hoarding house in Mexico. She is very scared of everyone, except her foster mom. It took 3 days for her to warm up to her. Once she knows you and you give her treats, she will let her guard down. She is very puppy, loves to play with other dogs, loves toys, loves to sit by her foster mom and be petted and gets the zoomies quite often. Right now Molly is puppy pad trained for the most part. She needs to be slowly trained to go outside. Right now if you put a collar or harness on her she will shut down. When her foster mom put a collar on her, she hid from her for two days.Given how scared Molly is, no young children or busy households. Also, no cats as she chases them.- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/ - Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged. - Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Story
Meet Stimie – The Tiny Bodyguard You Never Knew You Needed! 🐾 Stimie is a fiercely loyal Chihuahua who takes his job as Chief of Security very seriously. He’ll be your ride-or-die, your shadow, your personal alarm system, and your snuggle buddy — all rolled into one compact, adorable package. 💪❤️ He’s protective of his home and makes sure no one—invited or not—slips by without a thorough background check (aka a loud announcement that echoes through the house). Stimie isn’t exactly a fan of kids or cats… okay, fine, he hates them. But other dogs? He’s all about that pack life! 🐶 He is looking for a one-person home. With his person, Stimie is pure love — affectionate, loyal, and always ready for an adventure. He’s an excellent hiking buddy, walking partner, and listener (especially if you talk about how amazing he is). In public, he’s surprisingly social and might even tolerate kids from a safe distance. Stimie is also an alert barker, so apartment living is off the table — he takes noise ordinances as a personal challenge. His dream home is with a savvy Chihuahua lover who wants a fiercely devoted sidekick and doesn’t host too many guests. Think you can handle the love (and the sass)? Story
Meet Toddie! 🐾 Toddie is a sweet, seven-year-old little guy looking for a calm, adult-only home. He’s not interested in kids — he just wants relaxed, grown-up companionship. Toddie is a loyal little buddy who loves his foster mom and has a charming way of flirting with his eyes. He’s doing well with house training but may have an occasional accident. He’s a perfect mix of cuddly and independent — happy to snuggle, but also content doing his own thing. Toddie does give a little alert bark when someone comes to the door, but he settles quickly. Toddie gets along well with other dogs. His reaction to cats is unknown. He’d thrive best in a home with one person or someone with chihuahua experience. 💛 Apply to adopt at CampCompanion.org Adoption fee: $350 plus tax

Story
Say hello to Sophie! She is an 11-year-old tiny (3.8-pound) Chihuahua who, after some vetting, is now in excellent health. Sophie hasn’t met a person she doesn’t like without any hesitation. She met a cat and, after sniffing it, ignored it, although because of her big eyes, it might not be a good idea to live with an active cat. She does not like and is very scared of big dogs. She loves and is very playful with smaller dogs and would probably do best in a home with a small dog companion. And a child-free home would be best for this fragile little girl. Sophie came to rescue with severe dental problems, and it was found that her lower jaw had completely disintegrated, and her upper jaw is very thin. This meant that all her remaining teeth had to be pulled, and the utmost care must be taken when feeding her to prevent her upper jaw from cracking. This means all her food must be completely soft, and no chew toys or tug of war play ever. She does love to play with her humans, too. Sophie is very opinionated, and her opinions include a dislike of clothing, even though she is so tiny. She has been convinced to wear a coat if it is not pulled over her head. She loves to ride in the car, so she will tolerate a soft harness so that she can be buckled into her car seat, but she is very afraid of a leash and will scream and drop to the ground when wearing one. We are working on that, but it means that walking her for potty walks is a chore. Because of this, the ideal home would have a fenced yard so she can go out by herself to potty. Sophie is completely potty trained, and in all her time with her foster, she has never gone to the bathroom in the house. Because she came to us so underweight, all her meals have been homemade to entice her to eat, which has created a bit of a food monster when trying to transition now to canned dog food. She eats a combination of people’s food and dog food, but is extremely picky. She is not barky except when her foster comes home from work, and then zoomies for joy and barks. Sophie loves to either sleep with her person or in her kennel if it is in your room and positioned so she can see you at night, and she insists on covering herself up no matter where she is. It is super cute." Because of her tiny size, there are only a few preventative medications that are safe for her to take. We will let you know what they are. Sophie's adoption fee is $350 + MN sales tax. - You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal.
