Story
Ella Mae has arrived from Mexico! This sweet girl has had a tough life but is looking forward to a new beginning! She is so sweet & gentle natured. She's calm but loves to explore. She is looking forward to a slow retirement home filled with love! Age: 12 Breed:  Chi Mix Weight:  12 lbs Kid-friendly: Great with kiddos but she is shy so we recommend older kiddos. Dogs: She's pretty bossy so she would need a very tolerant dog. She likes to bark orders! Cats: Yes but again, bossy ;) Crate trained: Yes! Potty trained: Yes! Health concerns: She only has two teeth! Adoption fee: $175 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us.      Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test, a microchip, and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.  Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation. Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days. Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!  February 4, 2024, 9:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Marble. I’m a shy, soft-hearted girl who’s still discovering just how safe and fun the world can be. I may not show my full personality right away, but once I feel comfortable, my sweet and playful side starts to shine through. I came from a home with many dogs, and when I first arrived here I was very timid. I’ve been through a lot, so I’m naturally cautious with new people and new dogs. Sudden movements or loud noises can startle me, and I may bark at unfamiliar visitors or large dogs at first. Sometimes I’ll even bark through the fence at a neighboring dog or when a new dog comes into the home—but once I realize everything is okay, I settle quickly. With time and patience, I’ve made wonderful progress. I now seek out attention and pets on my own, and I’m starting to really enjoy exploring, playing, and relaxing in the quiet comfort of the house. I love toys (maybe a little too much!) and one of my funniest habits is stealing toys from the other dogs just to get them to chase me. I’m fast, playful, and surprisingly silly once my confidence kicks in. I get along well with dogs of all sizes, older children, and I politely ignore cats. I’ve lived peacefully with multiple dogs and have never had a cross word with any of them. A calm home with a confident companion dog would be ideal for me—someone who can show me the ropes and help me feel secure. I’m mostly potty-trained and do great using pee pads. I have excellent house manners, am very quiet overall, and rarely bark unless other dogs start it first. I’m not crate trained, but I sleep happily on the bed and can be trusted when left alone—I’m not destructive at all. I don’t love the cold, so my leash-walking skills are still a bit of a mystery. I’m independent and not clingy. I’ll come to you when I want affection, and when I do, it’s truly special. I may never be a full-time lap dog, but I am a loyal, gentle presence who bonds deeply with those who give me time and understanding. My previous owner had to enter a nursing home, and the rescue took me in along with four of my canine friends. With patience, stability, and love, I’ll continue to grow into the wonderful companion I’m meant to be. If you’re looking for a quiet, affectionate toy-lover who will bloom at her own pace, I just might be your Marble. Marble is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Zelle is a sweet, playful little puppy who is full of love, curiosity, and puppy charm. At about 7 weeks old, Zelle is everything you’d expect from a young puppy — goofy, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. She loves to play with her toys, tumble around with her siblings, and then curl up for a good nap wrapped in a cozy blanket. Watching Zelle play is pure joy; she’s especially funny when she’s romping around with her brother and sisters, showing off her playful little personality. Zelle is friendly with adult men, children over 10, and both big and small dogs. Because she’s still so young, she’s very adaptable and would do well either as an only dog or with a canine companion. What she really needs is love, playtime, soft blankets, toys, and a family that enjoys all the fun (and learning moments) that come with a puppy. Like all puppies, Zelle will need patience, consistency, and positive training. She’s at the perfect age to learn and be taught exactly how her future family wants her to grow up. She does bark a little when playing with her siblings, which is completely normal puppy behavior. Zelle was found in the woods with her brother and sisters, covered in ticks and fleas and suffering from significant skin issues due to her rough start in life. With care and treatment, she’s doing much better and is showing just how sweet and resilient she truly is. Zelle is looking for a committed, loving home that understands puppies need time, guidance, and lots of affection. In return, she’ll give you laughter, cuddles, and all the joy that comes with raising a puppy from the start. Zelle is ready to begin her next chapter — all she needs now is someone to love her, teach her, and let her be a happy little puppy!   Zelle is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Nicholas is a sweet, happy dog with a gorgeous brindle coat and a heart that is learning to trust again. He was found as a stray in Texas alongside two other small dogs, and it’s likely he’s spent a long time on the streets. Despite his past, Nicholas has a sweet demeanor and shows his love in his own quiet, heartfelt way. He does best with slow, patient introductions to new people and a home that lets him build trust at his own pace. Once he warms up, Nicholas leans into affection, showing just how loving and loyal he can be. Nicholas would thrive in a calm, understanding home that can offer him time, patience, and plenty of gentle love. He would also prefer to have another confident dog in the home so that he can model his behavior off of theirs. Nicholas is from Texas. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Kane is from Texas. He was brought into rescue after being confiscated during an animal cruelty investigation.  Kane has been thriving since entering rescue, and now it's time to find  him  a home of his very own!   Even with his rough start in life, Kane is a sweet boy.  Kane has shown his spirited personality right from the start—the first volunteer to give him a bath described him as “a little hurricane!” Kane is a happy, energetic puppy who loves stuffed toys, warm fluffy beds, yak cheese chews and wrestling with other dogs.  He’s polite with all adults, cats and dogs of all sizes.  He is untested with children, but there's no reason to think it would be a bad fit, as long as the children are respectful and dog savvy.  Kane enjoys soaking up the sunshine whenever he can. Cold weather and wet grass aren’t his favorite, but he’s more than happy to bundle up in a cozy sweater.   While his foster is away, Kane stays in a kennel, and at night he sleeps in the foster’s bed. Kane is working on potty training and does his business outside when taken out. If you think this sweet pup would be the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application today.. He can't wait to meet you! They arrive in Minnesota on 02/20/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Carlo Gizmo is a lovingly cuddly companion with big feelings about certain particulars in his world. He LOVES napping next to you on the couch and is an expert blanket-fort builder who will happily keep you company. At the same time, he has clear boundaries that must be respected — especially around sleeping spaces and fashion.    Gizzy does best with his own cozy sleeping space and prefers to be his natural, fashion-free self. When his boundaries aren’t honored, he can turn into quite the little spicy bee, so he’s looking for a confident, consistent leader who can provide structure while enjoying a close, devoted bond.   Carlo came to rescue from a local impound and is ready to start his next chapter with someone who understands that loyalty like his is a gift worth protecting.
