Story
My name is Sookie! I am 1 year old and I weigh approximately 9 lbs. I am fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. I was turned into the local County Animal Shelter but I'm not sure why. I'm such a sweet, loving little guy! I love being with people, especially my foster dad! I follow my fosters around the house and when it's time to go to bed I can easily jump up into there high-rise bed and cuddle up next to my foster dad. I ride okay in the car. My last few car rides have not been very pleasant as they took me out of my previous home. I have a medium energy level and I love to play with the other dogs. I get along well with other dogs, 5 lb to 100 lbs., all ages. I don't know about cats because the rescue doesn't have any. I would be good with kids, but I will not be adopted into a home with young children because I'm so small. I walk on a leash and I am not yappy. In fact for a chihuahua, I'm pretty quiet. My foster family says that I'm very smart! I have a very sweet temperament and have never shown any signs of aggression to any other dog or to a person. I'm ready and waiting to go to my new forever home! Belly rubs are a must! Email is the best method of contact. Applications can be found on our website Carolinacaninerescuenc.com

Story
Sweet Buster - Buster was a last minute pull from the shelter because he was getting ready to be euthanized along with several others that had to be caught by animal control after their owner moved into a nursing home and none of them had been socialized or outside the home but out of all of them (we were able to save all 6 of them) Buster was the worst and the shelter could not lay their hands on him. I knew if given the proper time he would come around but he had to do it on his terms and that was never going to happen at a noisy shelter. So we loaded him up and I brought him home to foster. I gave him his space and time but would sit on the floor and talk softly to him - within 3 days he was taking treats out of my hand and by the end of the week he would crawl into my lap and lay upside down and want his belly rubbed. Today I can do anything to the little guy as I earned his trust and he will give that trust out but it will take just the right home that understands that Buster needs to do it on his terms and needs time and patience. The one thing we have learned is that Buster has a fear of men - he has been with me for months and still does not trust my husband but we know that before coming to the rescue there was a male family member that was not so kind to these dogs and Buster has not forgotten that - we are aiming to find him a home where there are no men in the house which we have done for a couple of our dogs over the years so we know it is possible. We feel like putting him in a home with a male figure is only going to make him stay on edge all the time and that is no way to live. He is a small little guy at 6 pounds and he is estimated to be a little over a year old. He has made leaps and bounds with his housebreaking but will need consistency and patience when going to a new place. He loves loves loves his toys and his cuddle round bed. He loves other animals and would benefit from another dog in learning the ropes. Buster will also require a fenced in yard as we feel that is best for him. While he has been around a child in his foster home and after time has done well - we do recommend no small children Buster is neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication. His adoption fee is 250.00. If you are interested in Buster, please go to our website and fill out our adoption application - we will not set any meet and greets up until that application is filled out. We do require vet references and a home visit. Buster honestly is one amazing little dog and once you earn his trust - he gives you his whole heart and he is a total little love. He loves to be held like a baby and loves to have that belly rubbed. A lot of heart went into rehabbing this little guy so please read the description before filling out the application. We do not set our dogs up for failure and that is why we have certain requirements as they are with us 24/7 in our homes, so we know what would be the perfect fit for them.

Story
It is time for Selene's puppies to start finding a home of their own and first up is Artemis - otherwise known as the "ringleader" or "the rocket" He is the largest of the litter at 10.4 pounds and it is estimated these pups were born 1/7/23. Mom appears to be a lab mix with shorter legs than a normal lab and weighs 50 pounds so we are guessing he will be closer to her size full grown -so we are assuming these pups have some lab and probably a mixture of several other breeds or as we like to say "loveable mutts" Artemis is all puppy for sure - lots of energy but he also loves to be held and loves to give kisses and without a doubt he will keep a smile on your face. He will be a blessing to some very lucky family Artemis's adoption fee is $250.00 - this includes his microchip, deworming, current on heartworm prevention, shots up to date for his age and the rescue continues to pay for his remaining puppy vaccines and Rabies shot at 4 months old and his neuter along with a complete bloodwork panel done. And we provide heartworm prevention until he is 4 months old. If you are interested in adopting Artemis, please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications. We do NOT set up any meet and greets until the application has been received and reviewed. We do require vet references and a home visit and check to make sure that any current animals in the home are current on vaccines, spayed/neutered and they stay on monthly heartworm prevention. We do not have a facility - all of our animals are in private foster homes located in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. So lets get this special boy into a home to call his own

Story
And another one of Selene's amazing puppies is ready to find a family to call his own- sweet Apollo. Apollo is a laid back little man and alot like his Mom, easy going and super super sweet. He loves to shower you with kisses. While he is a puppy with playful energy - he is just a more calm little man. It is estimated he was born on 1/7/23 and his current weight is 12 pounds. Mom is a lab mix with shorter legs so we assume Apollo is a lab mix - with what we are not sure but as we always say he is a "loveable mutt" I mean look at that precious little face - how could you not fall in love with that - We are estimating 40 pounds or so full grown but that is just an estimate as we have no way of knowing for sure. He is going to make a wonderful addition to some very lucky family Apollo's adoption fee is $250.00 - this includes his microchip, deworming, current on heartworm prevention and the rescue provides his heartworm prevention until he is 4 months old, shots up to date for his age and the rescue pays for his remaining puppy boosters and Rabies shot at 4 months old, his neuter and we pay for a full bloodwork panel as well. If you are interested in adoption Apollo, please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications. We do not set up any meet and greets until the adoption application has been received and reviewed and we do require vet references and a home visit. We do require that any pets already in the home be current on vaccines, spayed/neutered and stays on heartworm prevention. We do not have a facility - all dogs are in private foster homes located in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. So if you are looking for the perfect puppy - look no further - Apollo is your boy

Story
Sweet Zabian is ready to find a family to call his own and such a precious boy that is going to be a huge blessing to some very lucky family. Zabian along with his 3 siblings and their Mom were dumped at a shelter and were going to be euthanized because there was no room and they were owner surrenders. We were able to pull the whole family We do believe Zabian for sure has some chihuahua in him as the people that dumped them said Dad was a chihuahua. Mom is a small lab type dog with an amazing personality. We do not expect Zabian to be a huge dog - maybe 30 pounds full grown. It is estimated that he was born on 1/24/23. He is great with other dogs, is doing very good with his housebreaking. He does love to cuddle but also would make a great little hiking companion. Zabian's adoption fee is $250.00. This includes all his vaccines current, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention and a months worth of each when adopted, microchipped, dewormed and it includes his neuter. All of our dogs are in private foster homes -we do NOT have a facility - before any meet and greet will be set up - you must go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications . We do require vet references and a home visit. So if you are looking for quite the perfect little pup - look no further because Zabian is your boy for sure. Get that application submitted

Story
Hello, me and my fiance are moving out of state in a sudden life change for us. We have 4 pets and just can't bring everyone with us as we will be moving into a small apartment. Freyja is around 7 years old. She is trained to use puppy pads indoors. She lives people and tolerates other animals. She currently lives with 2 cats and another large dog. She is not aggressive but does not like other animals in her face. We are looking for someone who has more time to dedicate to her or a family with kids who would enjoy playing with her.
