Story
I came into the shelter at no fault of my own, I was very scared and nervous. I wouldn't let anyone touch me for a while. I was very matted when I came in but since have been shaved down. I lived with teenage kids who I loved dearly. They have been very patient with me here and have given me the time and space to learn to trust new people. I will still growl at new people and try to hide. Even though I like kids I would prefer to be in a home that isn't noisy or too active. If I get spooked, I could easily nip, and I don't want to do that. It will require you to visit me multiple times to see if we would be a good fit together. Again, I will not be able to live with small children, only teenagers. The people here are looking out for my best interest and want me in a home that I feel safe in. I have met some new doggie friends here. I like male dogs better than females. I am learning to play with them.

Story
FRODO, FREDDIE, FINLEY and FERGIE. Don’t let these small sizes fool you. These guys and gal are packed with personality. Huge!! A little full of themselves. Known for being feisty and full of energy, these cuties are always up for the task. They are fearless and love to make their presence known. Despite their spunky behavior they also love their downtime cuddling with their favorite human. One of their favorite past times is perched in your arms taking in the big ole world from the safety of their humans embrace. They never meet a stranger and are adored by everyone they meet. Once adopted they will travel via Rescue Vet Transport to their new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make either one of these cuties part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Our turnaround time is typically less than 24 hours so please be prepared before you submit your application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Name: Titan Gender: Male Age: 11 years - birthday is 5/13/2012 Size: Small (under 25 lbs) Breed: Chihuahua Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly:  I will check out other dogs and decide if they are worthy.  I like to be dominant so they may need to give me some space and time to get to know them.  I do well with dogs my own size in my foster home; I do get easily overstimulated on walks but love backyard play (fenced yard needed) Cat Friendly: No, they're not for me Kid Friendly: Yes, I like young teens and older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: I do need a physical fence that will keep me in and other creatures out Crate & Potty Trained: Yes, I have never had an accident in the house.  I may have to go more frequent being a senior.  Just listen to my cues.  Ideal Home/Adopter: My ideal home would be in a quiet neighborhood. I am easily redirected with “treat treats,“ and I go inside if I’m barking at neighbors or other neighborhood sounds (lawnmower, kids playing/ talking loud). I have a heart murmur and take medication delicately from your fingers.   I have some other calming and old age pain medicine.  Between my age (11), heart murmur and some back issues,  I will be more of a companion dog than exercise partner.  Likes: I LOVE puzzles that dispense treats. I master them quickly; keeps my mind sharp you know.  I prefer a puzzle or two a day. I love my toys, skinny “No hide sticks” and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, diced vegi mix, etc.) I love car rides and will be your companion. I gotta admit though I am learning about new seats since I tweaked my back.  I like to have a quiet space I can go to when I’m tired or over stimulated. Dislikes: I don’t like lots of company, noise, larger dogs in my face (they say it’s Napoleon syndrome - I will try to show I’m louder, stronger) Additional Considerations: I am extremely intelligent and eager to please.  I recently had an oops and hurt my back.  My vet/life coach says no more racing around the yard, no jumping up multiple stairs or off furniture.  She says I would be best to keep my paws on the ground.  Gotta stay healthy.   What makes this dog special:  Did you know there is a moon named after me - the second largest moon in the solar system?  I also share my name with an awesome Nissan SUV and an investment group.  I’m pretty much larger than life. I came to RESCUEDOhio when my human mom passed away. I want more than anything to be part of a family again. I am a big love bug and am happy to snuggle up with anyone and everyone.   A senior man, the way to my heart is through my stomach. I have an assortment of treat dispensing puzzles. I also love car rides especially if you'll share some fries or maybe a little sausage. I am more of a lounge chair partner than walking partner. Afternoon snuggles and naps are favorites.  I’m making a bucket list of things to do/places to go as a senior (The Park of Roses, Topiary Park etc).  I hope you’ll join me.  Titan's adoption fee is $195.  Hhe is part of our Seniors for Seniors program ($65 for adopters 65+). All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Titan, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1306109##

Story
Are you the type of person that likes to give sweet older pups a chance they might otherwise not get? Sweetie loves attention and will happily help you out by guarding the door of the bathroom from the inside. However, she can also be quite the independent little lady and doesn’t need to be a velcro dog… unless you want her to be! Sweetie can be a little bossy with her dog friends (part of why we think she’s mixed with chihuahua!) but generally gets along well with everyone. Sweetie is a beauty but would benefit from a little tough love when it comes to feeding and giving out treats and a little more activity in her day. A physically fenced yard is required. Sweetie is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. If you are interested in adopting Sweetie, please complete the online application here (copy and paste into your browser): https://hhdane.formstack.com/forms/lostpetrecoveryadoptionform

Story
Meet Bonobo! He is a 7 year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs just 16 lbs. Bonobo came to CHA through our partnership with ASPCA. He may be nervous when meeting new people, but bonds closely and deeply with his familiar people. Once he knows you, he is very snuggly and just wants to curl up with you on the couch. When you pet him, he will lean hard into your lap and flip onto his side to lay on you. Bonobo would also be the perfect buddy for a casual stroll in the park because he loves to walk and sniff. He even has great leash manners! Bonobo doesn't mind spending time with other dogs either. He doesn't always love to play, but as long as the other dog respects his boundaries, he enjoys their company and co-exists peacefully. Come meet Bonobo today to see if he'd be a good fit for your family!
