Story
Name: Titan
Gender: Male
Age: 11 years - birthday is 5/13/2012
Size: Small (under 25 lbs)
Breed: Chihuahua Mix
Energy Level: Medium
Dog Friendly: I will check out other dogs and decide if they are worthy. I like to be dominant so they may need to give me some space and time to get to know them. I do well with dogs my own size in my foster home; I do get easily overstimulated on walks but love backyard play (fenced yard needed)
Cat Friendly: No, they're not for me
Kid Friendly: Yes, I like young teens and older
Apartment Friendly: No
Physical Fence Requirement: I do need a physical fence that will keep me in and other creatures out
Crate & Potty Trained: Yes, I have never had an accident in the house. I may have to go more frequent being a senior. Just listen to my cues.
Ideal Home/Adopter: My ideal home would be in a quiet neighborhood. I am easily redirected with “treat treats,“ and I go inside if I’m barking at neighbors or other neighborhood sounds (lawnmower, kids playing/ talking loud). I have a heart murmur and take medication delicately from your fingers. I have some other calming and old age pain medicine. Between my age (11), heart murmur and some back issues, I will be more of a companion dog than exercise partner.
Likes: I LOVE puzzles that dispense treats. I master them quickly; keeps my mind sharp you know. I prefer a puzzle or two a day. I love my toys, skinny “No hide sticks” and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, diced vegi mix, etc.) I love car rides and will be your companion. I gotta admit though I am learning about new seats since I tweaked my back. I like to have a quiet space I can go to when I’m tired or over stimulated.
Dislikes: I don’t like lots of company, noise, larger dogs in my face (they say it’s Napoleon syndrome - I will try to show I’m louder, stronger)
Additional Considerations: I am extremely intelligent and eager to please. I recently had an oops and hurt my back. My vet/life coach says no more racing around the yard, no jumping up multiple stairs or off furniture. She says I would be best to keep my paws on the ground. Gotta stay healthy.
What makes this dog special: Did you know there is a moon named after me - the second largest moon in the solar system? I also share my name with an awesome Nissan SUV and an investment group. I’m pretty much larger than life. I came to RESCUEDOhio when my human mom passed away. I want more than anything to be part of a family again. I am a big love bug and am happy to snuggle up with anyone and everyone.
A senior man, the way to my heart is through my stomach. I have an assortment of treat dispensing puzzles. I also love car rides especially if you'll share some fries or maybe a little sausage. I am more of a lounge chair partner than walking partner. Afternoon snuggles and naps are favorites. I’m making a bucket list of things to do/places to go as a senior (The Park of Roses, Topiary Park etc). I hope you’ll join me.
