Story
Meet Bonobo! He is a 7 year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs just 16 lbs. Bonobo came to CHA through our partnership with ASPCA. He may be nervous when meeting new people, but bonds closely and deeply with his familiar people. Once he knows you, he is very snuggly and just wants to curl up with you on the couch. When you pet him, he will lean hard into your lap and flip onto his side to lay on you. Bonobo would also be the perfect buddy for a casual stroll in the park because he loves to walk and sniff. He even has great leash manners! Bonobo doesn't mind spending time with other dogs either. He doesn't always love to play, but as long as the other dog respects his boundaries, he enjoys their company and co-exists peacefully. Come meet Bonobo today to see if he'd be a good fit for your family!

Story
Are you the type of person that likes to give sweet older pups a chance they might otherwise not get? Sweetie loves attention and will happily help you out by guarding the door of the bathroom from the inside. However, she can also be quite the independent little lady and doesn’t need to be a velcro dog… unless you want her to be! Sweetie can be a little bossy with her dog friends (part of why we think she’s mixed with chihuahua!) but generally gets along well with everyone. Sweetie is a beauty but would benefit from a little tough love when it comes to feeding and giving out treats and a little more activity in her day. A physically fenced yard is required. Sweetie is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. If you are interested in adopting Sweetie, please complete the online application here (copy and paste into your browser): https://hhdane.formstack.com/forms/lostpetrecoveryadoptionform

Story
WolfMaleAge: 1 yearWeight: 25 lbsBreed: Chihuahua Mix Hi! I’m Wolf. I am a playful and curious guy who gets along great with other dogs. I have not been around cats or kids to know how I would do around them yet. I am house trained and am working on crate training, and because my crate still makes a little nervous, I would prefer to be confined to a small, safe space like a laundry room or kitchen while you’re gone for the workday. I am learning to walk on my leash too. I am still a little nervous when there are too many sounds, but when I do an early morning walk and it's quiet my foster mom says I do really well. I seem to learn best when I am around other dogs (I really like to play with my fur siblings), so I would thrive really well in a home with another dog. One of my favorite things to do is play and get my young dog energy out. I love cheese and bones and I really enjoy cuddling. I also like to lounge around, go to the park and take my calm walks. I cannot wait to find my very own active family who will give me all the love and attention I deserve and who will be patient with me as I learn what being a dog means. If you are interested in meeting this shy but curious young guy, apply to adopt him at: www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 5 years old or older.  ##2042817##

ABOUT ME... Our names are Liam and Naria, and we're a brother and sister duo looking for our forever home! We are 6 years old and have to be rehomed because our owner went into hospice care. We've been together our whole lives and love to curl up together and groom each other, so we're looking for a home with enough love for both of us! We will bring double the cuddles into your life. We LOVE playing fetch, going outside, and chilling on the couch or under a blanket for naps...preferably close to you or on a lap! We're also happy hanging in our crate and waiting for our favorite human(s) to take us on a walk or give us snuggles. I AM GREAT WITH... Going into our crate for nap time or night time (although one of us needs a little extra reassurance before hand!). We're also pad-trained, and since we have little chihuahua bladders, we may need to sneak little pees onto our pad between trips outside! We do really good on our leashes, but would prefer a nice fenced-in yard because we love to run and explore. I AM STILL WORKING ON... Getting comfortable with visitors! We are pretty shy and anxious at first and will bark to let you know that there is an intruder inside! Once we feel more relaxed and secure, we will calm down and even start a game of fetch with our new friends. We tend to warm up to women quicker than men. I AM NOT GOOD WITH... We're pretty nervous around anyone who wants to grab at us or invade our space, so kids aren't our favorite. We haven't been around other dogs or cats, but we would probably do best as the only dogs in our home. **All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. Booster shots are included in the adoption fee and will be performed at our clinic, or the adopter can use their own vet at their expense. Adopters must reside within 2 hours of Columbus, OH. No transportation assistance is available.**

Name: Titan Gender: Male Age: 11 years - birthday is 5/13/2012 Size: Small (under 25 lbs) Breed: Chihuahua Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly:  I will check out other dogs and decide if they are worthy.  I like to be dominant so they may need to give me some space and time to get to know them.  I do well with dogs my own size in my foster home; I do get easily overstimulated on walks but love backyard play (fenced yard needed) Cat Friendly: No, they're not for me Kid Friendly: Yes, I like young teens and older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: I do need a physical fence that will keep me in and other creatures out Crate & Potty Trained: Yes, I have never had an accident in the house.  I may have to go more frequent being a senior.  Just listen to my cues.  Ideal Home/Adopter: My ideal home would be in a quiet neighborhood. I am easily redirected with “treat treats,“ and I go inside if I’m barking at neighbors or other neighborhood sounds (lawnmower, kids playing/ talking loud). I have a heart murmur and take medication delicately from your fingers.   I have some other calming and old age pain medicine.  Between my age (11), heart murmur and some back issues,  I will be more of a companion dog than exercise partner.  Likes: I LOVE puzzles that dispense treats. I master them quickly; keeps my mind sharp you know.  I prefer a puzzle or two a day. I love my toys, skinny “No hide sticks” and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, diced vegi mix, etc.) I love car rides and will be your companion. I gotta admit though I am learning about new seats since I tweaked my back.  I like to have a quiet space I can go to when I’m tired or over stimulated. Dislikes: I don’t like lots of company, noise, larger dogs in my face (they say it’s Napoleon syndrome - I will try to show I’m louder, stronger) Additional Considerations: I am extremely intelligent and eager to please.  I recently had an oops and hurt my back.  My vet/life coach says no more racing around the yard, no jumping up multiple stairs or off furniture.  She says I would be best to keep my paws on the ground.  Gotta stay healthy.   What makes this dog special:  Did you know there is a moon named after me - the second largest moon in the solar system?  I also share my name with an awesome Nissan SUV and an investment group.  I’m pretty much larger than life. I came to RESCUEDOhio when my human mom passed away. I want more than anything to be part of a family again. I am a big love bug and am happy to snuggle up with anyone and everyone.   A senior man, the way to my heart is through my stomach. I have an assortment of treat dispensing puzzles. I also love car rides especially if you'll share some fries or maybe a little sausage. I am more of a lounge chair partner than walking partner. Afternoon snuggles and naps are favorites.  I’m making a bucket list of things to do/places to go as a senior (The Park of Roses, Topiary Park etc).  I hope you’ll join me.  Titan's adoption fee is $195.  Hhe is part of our Seniors for Seniors program ($65 for adopters 65+). All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Titan, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1306109##

Story
Dolly's foster says that Dolly is a sweet girl who needs to be spoiled forever. A very affectionate dog who would thrive in a home where someone was home most of the time. She gets along with other dogs and would do best with one that is fairly 'chill' and good-tempered. Dolly loves to sleep in bed, under the covers and will burrow under a cover when she lays on the couch with her humans. Dolly's foster says she is a 'best friend' kind of dog. She likes small stuffed toys, sunbathing, and is good about taking treats nicely. Dolly hasn't been crated except when she goes to the vet. She is house broken and will let you know when she needs to go out. Dolly has lived with cats and kids at her foster house. If you are interested in meeting Dolly, please apply at ricopetrecovery.org. Her adoption fee is $250.

Story
Billy is a very sweet but shy boy who barely escaped death with his buddy Butch. They were already in the euth room in a shelter in Texas, but fortunately we were able to pull them just in time. Billy and Butch were roaming the streets with a few other dogs when they were picked up by ACS. It has been a rough start to life for these two, but we are hoping they will find a wonderful family to show them that life can be good and not all humans are bad or scary. They are definitely bonded and must be kept together. Billy adjusted pretty quickly, but little Butch is frightened and less trusting and will take a little longer to warm up. Once he begins to trust and relax, you will see his loving and kind personality emerge. Please submit an application to meet these two special boys. Canaananimalsanctuary.org

Story
Butch was so frightened when arriving to us, but who wouldnt have been. Picked up as a stray with his buddy, Billy. Taken to the shelter where he was minutes from losing his life. Then transported across the country with lots of other barking and frightened pups. It’s been a whirlwind of stressful events. But even so, Butch began to relax slightly after a few days and after a week he allowed us to touch him. It just takes a little time and patience. Billy warms up a lot faster, but with time these two will be a delightful addition to any family. We are looking for someone with the time and patience to bring the best out in this sweet boy who Wants so badly to trust and believe there is good that exists in this scary world. At not quite three weeks we are now receiving kisses from Butch. Both boys are vaccinated, neutered, flea and tick treated and microchipped. Please submit an application to meet these sweet little guys. Canaananimalsanctuary.org
