Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.A generous donor has sponsored Peanut's adoption donation! Peanut is a beautiful 5 year old, 12 pound chocolate Chi that was abandoned in a home with his big furry brother. When he came to us from the shelter he had horrible skin and eye issues. Unfortunately, his dry eye was never treated and he developed an ulcer. Even though everything was done to save the eye, it did need surgically removed due to a rupture. Now that he is all healed this boy is ready for his forever home! His dry eye is treated with daily eye drops, and he is a good little guy to get his drops. Peanut has had one mild seizure recently, and has some demons that can come out to play at night. He has been on phenobarbital since August, and it has helped significantly. If he wakes up with a low growl, he can be easily talked back to calm, and swiftly goes back to sleep. He prefers to sleep with his people, but you must be warned it can be risky during the night if his demons come out. Besides that, Peanut is one healthy, playful, and loving boy who is ready for any adventure with his family. He is crate trained during the day, house trained, leash trained, loves car rides and just a little love bug. Peanut gets along with other dogs, but wrestling and getting the tennis ball first are his favorite things. He will even play fetch all by himself for your entertainment, and his toys get lots of air time! Peanut is your typical chihuahua who wants to be the center of your world. Won't you give this boy his dream of a forever home? To adopt Peanut, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation has been sponsored by a donor and includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 24, 2024, 5:47 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Tucker the chiweenie! Tucker is estimated to be between 1-2 years old and weighs 8 pounds. He is small in size but has a BIG personality! Tucker walked right into our house and made himself quite comfortable. He enjoys a nice comfy dog bed, playing with toys and romping around with his foster brother. Tucker can play for hours and can never get enough attention from his foster parents. Tucker is very curious of the house cats and will attempt to chase them. Tucker’s little legs makes him a bit of a klutz. He walks well on a leash but does enjoy having a fenced-in yard to explore. He is also very content when he has to be crated and sleeps through the night with no accidents. He is pretty much house trained, but we are still working on his cues for letting us know. The chihuahua is strong with this guy, and we are trying to work on his manners. Are you interested in adopting this silly, lovable guy? To adopt Tucker, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Ozzie is part of a group of 4 chihuahua's that were given to us from a home with 11 dogs that were never given human attention.  They are very fearful of everything.  We are working slowly with each of them.Update:Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, lived a very scared and broken-hearted chihuahua. His name was Ozzie. He was taken to boarding until a foster home became available to wish away the memories that scared and scarred him. Within a week, a lady came to pick him up. Ozzie saw the lady and tried to hide in a corner of the boarding facility. The lady took a step closer and Ozzie pooped his pants! (Okay, Ozzie didn't have pants on and it hit the floor. But, we don't want to embarrass him about being naked in public.) The lady spent a long time sitting near him and talking to him before Ozzie would crawl onto her lap. The lady took Ozzie home with her.  Ozzie was given his own room with a crate to sleep in. It had a warm fluffy bed. The lady placed him in the crate to adjust to the sounds of the house. Ozzie had never been more scared in his life. Whenever the lady tried to put a leash on his collar he would try to scare her away with snarls and barks, but she wouldn't give up. For 2 weeks the lady would dangle a slip lead through the crate and loop it around him before she could put his leash on.   The foster lady had discovered that Ozzie was afraid to have anyone be near his head. Ozzie started to realize that no matter how much he showed his fears, this foster lady wouldn't give up on trying to love him. His foster mom started leaving his crate and bedroom door open. One night he peeked into her bedroom and saw her with two other dogs on her bed. They were playing and licking her face...and she laughed and seemed to like it. Ozzie snuck closer and closer...until he was up on the bed at the bottom, watching as the other dogs moved closer to foster mom and cuddled up to sleep! Foster mom pretended not to notice as Ozzie crept closer and closer...until he came up to her and cuddled too! This went on for several nights. Finally, Ozzie decided that he wasn't so afraid of foster mom and he was going to give her a kiss on the face like the other dogs did. Foster mom was filled with joy. This kiss meant more than any wet puppy kiss she ever had. The scared and broken-hearted chihuahua had turned a corner and found someone he could trust and care for!As the days and weeks turned into months, Ozzie started to try playing with the other dogs.  He would sit on foster mom's lap, drink her iced tea and coffee when she wasn't paying attention, and start going up to other members of the household for petting. Ozzie learned nobody was going to hurt his head and all the humans respected his wish to allow him to give kisses first and not reach for his head or put their face in his without first being asked to by him. Life for Ozzie was the best he could remember. Then, one day, foster mom brought home a pup. The pup's name was Dink. Dink was a very energetic and playful puppy. Ozzie wasn't sure why, but foster mom decided to introduce him to Dink in the play yard...just the two of them! Ozzie heard foster mom tell someone she was so happy to finally see him play like a young dog should. Ozzie continued to play with Dink. They ran and ran in the green grass until they were both tired and thirsty. Ozzie thinks he heard foster mom say she hopes he finds a furever home now that his fears have lessened. Ozzie now has joy and hope in his heart that he will soon find another patient and understanding home of humans that he could make as happy as foster mom!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. The 3 of us are so thankful to be with 2nd Chance!  I am a very sweet gal that loves to be on your lap, get cuddles and kisses, I love to play with Roxy, and be outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Roxy and I have lived together all of our lives, so for that reason we must be adopted together. Looking for his perfect match! Name: Emmett Age: ~7 Sex: Male Breed: Chi/Jack Russel Mix Looking for: Adult only-home Love Language: Balls & ear scratches Good with: Kids: Not preferred Cats: Unknown Dogs: Yes, low energy, non-playful dogs "I am a small, middle-aged boy who is in his PEAK years! I prefer an adult-only home because I don't trust kids... can you blame me? Some would say that I have commitment issues so apparently, I need someone who I can trust that will ensure I am never let down by a human again. I am iffy with new people but will eventually warm up and then I'm super clingy. When it comes to other dogs, I am not a paw-ty animal by any means, and I require a nice long handshake and butt sniff before letting you join my circle. I guess I'd be willing to share my human with the right pup....I'll let you know. I like to take things slow: trust, love, and pets. DON'T ask me to clean your gutters, I live by the "feet on the floor" rule and am a little scared of heights, so I prefer not to be picked up. All I need is a ball to chase or a comfy spot on the couch or on your lap. Don't take it personally but I LOVE my crate. Sometimes it's nice to have alone time. I have some quirks...AKA don't touch me where I don't want to be touched - but once you learn my "DNT Spots, you can give me love everywhere else! Listen, I'm a gutsy guy who is looking for someone who can handle my big personality in my tiny body. I'm UTD on my vaccines, can't get anyone preggers, I'm chipped so that you can stalk me & have a clean bill of health. If you want to make me yours, you have to apply so my "foster mom can "approve. Can you believe she gets to make the final call?!" Zoes House Kennel #9117 Sinking Spring, PA 19608

Story
This handsome toothy man is Snoopy! Snoopy is a sweet, energetic and cute little guy who would love a home that is able to work with him. He is very loving and has a tendency to bond really hard with his person, so socializing him with everyone in the home and new people he meets is important for proper interactions. He loves walks to get his zoomies out. Once he's exercised, he'll just want to snuggle on the couch with you or sleep on a blanket. He has a lot of love and affection to give, so if you're looking for a partner in crime, reach out to the ARL today and adopt Snoopy!
