Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All adopters are required to meet at our rescue center in Mt Carmel, PA (no exceptions).   Please EMAIL all questions to rescue.me.pa@gmail.com    Chuckie and Lola have been let down by people over and over and over.  We don't know how many people hurt them before they finally made it to us, but we know that they ended up on the streets fending for themselves. Two tiny little dogs facing the big cold world with empty bellies and no bed to sleep in. Once they came to us we did everything we could to help make up for what they had been through. We got them vetted, loved them, spoiled them and then placed them into our training program FIDOS where they received even more love and attention along with basic training.Over the last few months we have searched for a good home for them. We thought we found one, the people had good vet references and everything checked out. Unfortunately they didn't listen to our instructions and within a few days they returned Chuckie and Lola. The instructions were simple. Crate them when you aren't with them, keep them on a feeding schedule, don't give them full run of the house for the first few weeks until they get to know you and your home well, and do not leave Chuckie alone in the yard because he climbs fences. Had they followed instructions things would have been fine and they would have had two loyal, loving life-time companions.Chuckie and Lola went back into FIDOS and we started searching again for a good home. Again we thought we found a potential home. Chuckie and Lola waited for 2 weeks for the adoption day to arrive. On the morning of the adoption they were brought to the rescue from FIDOS . They waited and they waited, they knew something was happening, they were excited. But sadly the potential adopter did not show.  The adopter made them wait and didn't even have the decency to call and say they weren't coming or ask to reschedule, the potential adopter just blew them off. Finally the person replied to my phone call and text messages and to make a long story short, Chuckie and Lola are still desperately seeking a home together. We need a GOOD, devoted, trustworthy person to come forward and adopt this wonderful duo. I promise you that you won't be disappointed!  They are loyal, loving, affectionate, quirky, playful and fun. They love snuggles and going for walks, they love other dogs and they will make you smile all day long.If we can't find a together home, we will have to find separate homes and that would be just awful. They love each other and deserve a life together after all they've been through. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sadie Ann is a 5 year old, 13 pound adorable mixed breed that we are told is a Chorkie. She has the sweetest personality ever, the coat of a wire haired Terrier, and a little tuft on her head that can be spiked to a mohawk. She is healthy, playful, loves attention, but is also independent. Sadie is housetrained, crate trained, and great in a car. She just doesn't know how to walk on a leash yet, but with a little more work she can get there so a fenced yard is a must. Sadie loves other dogs to run and wrestle around with. She is healthy and fully recovered from her spay and dental so the next step is finding this unique looking girl her happily ever after! To adopt Sadie Ann, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, spay, dental, and all the love you can handle! Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.10/21 Luna Moonpie Looking for a local (Arkansas or nearby) adopter! Luna is a tiny chihuahua/pug mix who has had a bit of a traumatic few months. She came into rescue a few months ago when her owner had to go to assisted living. Luna had lived in an apartment with her mom most of her life, rarely seeing other people. She has been in a foster home, where she loves the woman but only tolerates the man and the other dogs. She was adopted briefly by the perfect adopter- an older lady who lived alone with no other pets- but had to be returned after she tried to bite a delivery driver. Luna has the typical Chihuahua personality. She is nervous and will bite out of fear. Imagine how scary this world would be if you were only 8 lbs? She is a one person kind of dog, and she will defend and protect that person at all cost! She doesn't care for other dogs, but may be able to coexist with another dog who won't try to force interactions with her. She really just wants a lap to sit in and a human to cuddle. She loves sleeping in bed with her person. She is not super vocal so apartment life would be fine for her. She is not fully house trained but will use potty pads most of the time. Because of the high likelihood of failed adoption, and the stress of transport, we feel strongly that Luna needs a local home, in case she needs to come back into rescue, we can be her safety net. She would be the perfect companion for a single retired person. Please share Luna's post. It is so hard to find a home for a dog like this. But she didn't ask to lose her mama, she didn't ask to be undersocialized, and she didn't ask for chihuahua genes. It's just who she is, and she still deserves a good home and to be loved. Luna is 4 years old.For questions or more info, email apps.aasr@gmail.com. To apply to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 To see more of our available dogs, Www.adoptastrayrescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
Age: 6 years Size: 16 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua/terrier mix   Gizmo came to us from a home with good intentions, who quickly became overwhelmed by the number of dogs in the home due to a few unexpected litters. This is why we will ALWAYS preach spay/neuter! Fortunately, the family reached out for help, and we were able to split the family with another local rescue. They are all in foster care and looking for forever homes!    Gizmo is around 6 years old and weighs 16 lbs. His former owner described him as the sweetest of them all, and we have to agree! He's a sweet, mature guy who does well with dogs, cats, and people. We have not seen him with kids yet. He loves being with people and has quickly become foster mom's shadow. He's not used to the crate or leash but is picking up on both quickly and responds well to verbal praise and treats! He'll fit into most homes and families as long as they have plenty of love to give him.    To adopt Gizmo, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.    PA Kennel License #18366July 30, 2024, 10:27 am

Story
Age: 2 years Size: 7 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua mix   Raven was confiscated from a home with over 40 chihuahuas living in terrible conditions. Rescuers found dogs living under the home, feces completely covering the floor, and newborn and nursing babies living in couch cushions and under furniture. Several dogs had began leaving the house out of an open window in search of help. Help came just in time, and all 40 surviving dogs were taken to the shelter and checked out by a vet. Along with several other rescues, we agreed to get the whole group out of the shelter and into rescues and foster care!    Raven is a shy but extremely sweet little girl. She is thriving in foster care and learning what it's like to be a beloved family member. She does great with dogs and people. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but can test her out for an approved adopter. She is picking up on crate and house training and learning how to walk on a leash too. Raven will make a wonderful companion to the lucky family who adopts her!    To adopt Raven, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366November 12, 2024, 1:35 pm
