Story
Say hello to dear little Rizzo, a one-year-old Chihuahua with the cutest face and the most expressive eyes. This adorable boy is looking for a fresh start after being surrendered through no fault of his own. Sadly, life in his previous home was stressful, as a child in the household was unkind to him. Because of that experience, Rizzo is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Now settling into a caring foster home, Rizzo is showing everyone just how special he is. He is a bit cautious when first approached and may give a small growl as he figures you out. For those familiar with Chihuahua behavior, this isn’t unusual, but in Rizzo’s case, it could be related to fear and insecurity from his past. With patience, gentle handling, and understanding, he warms up and reveals his sweet, affectionate nature.Once he feels comfortable, Rizzo absolutely loves to be carried around and close to his person. He bonds deeply and enjoys being your little shadow. He gets along great with his canine foster sibling. Check out this play session: https://youtube.com/shorts/3mKxxnsS8NIHe’s not a big barker, sleeps soundly through the night in his crate, and is doing well with housetraining. Even better, he’s very treat-motivated — a wonderful asset for continued positive training and confidence-building as you can see here: https://youtube.com/shorts/WgZAsfKgYyY?feature=shareRizzo will thrive in a calm, patient home — ideally with adults or older, respectful children — where his trust can continue to grow. In the right home, this darling boy will blossom into the loyal, loving companion he was always meant to be.Let’s find Rizzo the safe, understanding forever home he truly deserves.Name: Rizzo Breed: ChihuahuaSex: MaleAge: 1 year (estimated)Weight: 11.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12, and respectful toward dogs.Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00 Location of dog currently: MAIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
