2. Rescue Story
Hina first met ADOGS during a winterization volunteer trip at the shelter. At the time, she seemed highly uncomfortable wearing a specific dog coat and had severely licked her legs, creating raw wounds. Concerned that her self-harming behavior would worsen and cause severe infections, ADOGS stepped in urgently to rescue her.
3. Personality & Characteristics
- Interaction with Humans: She loves people but is also deeply fearful of them. If you approach her while standing up, she will immediately run away. However, if you sit down and gently extend a hand from the side, she will willingly come over to sniff. While she is wary of strangers, she gladly accepts treats from them and allows gentle touches near her cheeks and neck. She used to wag her tail at familiar faces but dodge their hands, but she has improved significantly. She now accepts physical affection well and will even approach first if she sees you petting another dog!
- Interaction with Dogs: She has great social skills! She gets along wonderfully with her shelter friends, enjoying playtime and playful antics. She especially loves hanging out and playing with her friend Hanna(#어독스한나)at the shelter.
- Interaction with Cats: She has not encountered any cats yet.
- Separation Anxiety: Since she is currently living in a group environment at the shelter, it is difficult to accurately assess.
- Potty Training: Because she is staying in a shelter environment, her exact housebreaking habits are unknown. She may require training from scratch once she moves into a home.
- Grooming & Hygiene: Due to her defensive nipping tendencies, formal grooming has not been attempted yet. She reacts defensively even when caretakers try to put an elizabethan collar (e-collar) on her, making hygiene routines difficult for now.
- Leash Walking: Because she still retains a high level of wariness toward humans, she is not ready for outdoor walks yet.
- Biting/Aggression: She will growl and nip defensively when she feels trapped or terrified, such as when someone attempts to put on an e-collar or corners her. She will also snap if a stranger tries to touch or pick her up abruptly without warning, so careful and gentle handling is required.
- Barking: She tends to bark quite a bit at strangers. She also barks to ask for food or to demand to be let out of her kennel. She has shown no whining behavior.
- Likes: She absolutely loves food and mealtime!
- Dislikes: She is still very fearful of humans. She feels highly uncomfortable being cornered or touched suddenly.
- Personality: Hina is a timid girl who used to be intensely wary of people, but she is now slowly opening up, approaching familiar faces first, and accepting their touch. She just needs a patient family who will quietly and calmly wait for her to open up her heart at her own pace.
