- Due to complications from a past heartworm infection, she has a chronic lung condition that requires ongoing medication and careful management.
- A sudden spike in her heart rate can put a dangerous strain on her heart, so it is crucial to keep her environment calm and prevent her from getting overly excited. Since she gets short of breath easily during exercise, please avoid strenuous activities or walking her in hot weather.
2. Rescue Story
Yulmoo first met ADOGS during a winterization volunteer trip at the Gimje Shelter. At the time, the freezing winter weather was setting in, and the already harsh shelter was struggling with outbreaks of infectious diseases. Knowing Yulmoo could not survive much longer in those conditions, ADOGS stepped in to rescue her.
3. Personality & Characteristics
- Interaction with Humans: She is a bit fearful of strangers at first, but she switches into "people-loving mode" in no time, rolling over onto her back to show off her charms. Once she bonds with someone, she follows them around like a shadow for comfort and sweetly demands pets and affection.
- Interaction with Dogs: During her time at the shelter, she coexisted well and peacefully with her friends. She is a bit shy when meeting new dogs for the first time. On walks, she occasionally growls while greeting other dogs, so she needs gentle, continued guidance and training in socialization.
- Interaction with Cats: She has a strong instinct to chase cats when she spots them, so careful supervision is required.
- Separation Anxiety: She has no separation anxiety! She sleeps and behaves wonderfully when left alone. She stays comfortably in her kennel and is a good little princess who sleeps soundly by herself in the living room at night.
- Potty Training: In her current foster home, she is almost entirely outdoor-trained. She urinates quickly, but she takes about 15 minutes of exploring to find the perfect spot for bowel movements.
- Grooming & Hygiene: Although she isn't a fan of baths, she stays patient and tolerates them well. When it comes to brushing and nail trimming, she gracefully accepts her fate with a slightly resigned but gentle attitude.
- Leash Walking: She walks beautifully without pulling on the leash. She tends to walk a bit faster on bare sidewalks where there are no good spots to sniff. She is a brave girl who even enjoys walks on rainy days! However, because she struggles in hot weather, her walks should be kept short during summer. She also needs careful supervision as she tries to chase birds and cats.
- Motion Sickness: She rides well in the car without any signs of motion sickness during short-distance trips.
- Biting/Aggression: She is an absolute angel who has shown zero biting tendencies!
- Barking: She may bark out of fear if a stranger makes sudden, large gestures while approaching her. She also whines to ask for attention if her foster parent returns home but doesn't greet her right away.
- Likes: She loves human affection, treats, and nosework games! Since she doesn't show much interest in typical toys, her caretakers feed her daily meals through nosework toys to keep her mentally stimulated.
- Dislikes: She gets startled if she is picked up or scooped into a hug too suddenly.
- Special Talents: She is a master of tricks! She proudly knows "Sit," "Down," "Bang!" (play dead), "V" (resting her chin on a finger V), "Paw," "Nose," and "High-five."
- Personality: Yulmoo is a calm, quiet girl full of affection. Her easygoing, laid-back nature is incredibly charming, making her the ultimate emotionally stable companion dog. She lights up and becomes beautifully vibrant whenever she is doing things she loves, like going on walks or playing nosework games!
