Story
Rusty Wallace is a 3-year-old dachshund mix.   Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages.  If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below.   He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must!   Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight.  You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain.    Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed.    Rusty has seizures.  At this time he is not on meds but just being monitored.     If you would like more information about Rusty Wallace, we would be happy to answer them.  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Rusty Wallace’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Meet Tex – Your Loyal Little Lookout! 🐾 Tex is an approximately 2-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix (or at least that’s our best guess), and he’s the perfect blend of small size and big heart. This sweet boy came to us from a rural shelter where he was very shut down and scared. Since arriving in his foster home, Tex has truly blossomed into a much more relaxed and confident pup. Now that he knows he’s safe, Tex enjoys the comforts of home life: lounging around, following his humans, and hanging out with the other dogs in the house. He’s also curious about the cats, though if they dart off too quickly, he might give a bark or two to let them know he noticed. Tex is an excellent little alert dog who takes his job seriously. If something unusual is happening around the property or if a sneaky squirrel dares to raid the bird feeder, Tex will sound the alarm. He’s got a great nose for mischief and will keep your porch squirrel-free. Tex would thrive in a calm, low-activity home where he can build a strong bond with his adopter. Once he knows he’s safe and loved, he’ll likely become your loyal little shadow. Tex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Please note: Tex is only eligible for local adoption in the San Antonio area at this time. It took him several months to fully warm up in his foster home, and we are hoping to find an adopter nearby. If any issues arise, we want to ensure we can easily bring him back into our care. If you are in the San Antonio area and looking for a sweet and loyal companion, Tex might just be the perfect fit. Go ahead and submit an adoption application for him now! $200 Local Adoption Fee

Story
Meet Talia! This super sweet girl came to us as a stray, underweight and needing some TLC. She’s already blossoming at the rescue—happy, healthy, and steadily working her way up to her ideal weight! Talia is wonderful with other dogs and has been friendly with every person she’s met. She’s about 5 years old and currently weighs 16 pounds, though she should fill out closer to 20. With her adorable terrier-mix looks and likely a dozen breeds in her background, she’s the perfect little mystery pup. Talia is gentle, loving, and so ready for a fresh start. She’ll make an amazing companion for someone who wants a sweet, easygoing friend by their side.

Meet Citrus! 🍊 This adorable little dachshund mix was found abandoned alongside her mama, Olive. Citrus is about 10 weeks old and 4 pounds, and we expect her to grow to be around her mom’s size when fully grown. She’s super sweet, playful, and loving, with the kind of gentle personality that makes her easy to fall for. Citrus is respectful of other dogs, loves all people, and will happily be your little shadow—following you from room to room just to be near you. Young puppies are only available for local adoption.

Story
Oskar is a 3-year-old dachshund who is just starting to adapt to home life. He likes to explore the yard, play with his little canine foster brothers, and cuddle. He is just figuring out toys and learning to play with them. He has bursts of energy followed by hours of sleeping. Oskar is good in his pen and is potty trained. His recall is great and he will race to you when you call for him. He doesn’t know what to do on a leash, but will likely learn quickly. He’s very bright but needs time to feel confident and secure. Oskar is looking for a dachshund-experience home with another dog buddy about his size. He needs someone who is home most of the time and he requires a physical, fenced yard for safe adventures. He can be slow to warm up to new people and situations so he’s requesting a patient, quiet home with no teeny children. This sweet and handsome guy is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2593831##

Story
WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌟 Meet Gypsy – “Half the height, double the fun” 🌟 Gypsy is a 2-year-old, 28-pound sweetheart with Cattle Dog coloring and Basset Hound legs—aka the ultimate “off-road edition.” She may be a low rider, but don’t let those short legs fool you…this girl is built for adventure! Gypsy loves her walks, is getting better and better on leash, and would make a fantastic hiking buddy. When she’s not scouting for squirrels (her favorite hobby), she’s happily following her person around the yard, supervising all outdoor projects like the best little forewoman on four paws. She’s playful (sometimes with toys, sometimes with your shoelaces), great with people, and does well with other dogs. Cats are still an unknown, but given her love for squirrel-chasing, they may prefer she keeps her fan club elsewhere. ✅ Dog-friendly ✅ Loves the great outdoors ✅ House & crate trained ✅ The perfect mix of sass, spunk, and snuggles Gypsy is looking for an active family who will appreciate her zest for life, laugh at her low-rider zoomies, and love her for the goofy, loyal, one-of-a-kind pup she is. 🎉 Short legs, big dreams—Gypsy is ready to hit the trails and your couch with equal enthusiasm! Apply today at haydudeequine.org 🐾
