Story
Meet Daisy, your new shadow! 🌼 This precious girl is a 6-to-7-year-old sweetheart who is officially ready to find her forever home. At about 15 pounds, she is the ultimate "velcro dog" and truly thrives when she’s right by your side. She’s essentially a perpetual baby who loves to be doted on; if you’re looking for a personal assistant to sit on your lap and keep you company all through the workday, she is already a professional at it! While she is a calm and devoted companion indoors, she still has a playful spirit and absolutely lives for her daily walks and games of fetch. She is the definition of a "good girl," as she is completely potty trained and has excellent house manners. Because she is so full of love and craves companionship, we are looking for an adopter who has plenty of time to spend with her and will treat her with the tenderness she deserves. She’s currently carrying a few extra "love pounds" and is looking for a dedicated partner to help her stay active and reach a healthier weight. If you have a heart full of love and a lap that’s currently empty, she might just be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
🐾 Thatch - A Loyal Little Shadow with a Big Heart Meet Thatch, a 3-year-old, 24-lb Dachshund/Labrador mix with a sleek dark brown coat and an adorable white patch on his chest — and just enough personality to steal your heart. Thatch is a sensitive, thoughtful guy who likes to take a moment to size up new situations. On leash, he can be reactive toward people, but with patient handling and continued training, he’s making great progress. Give him a minute to warm up and you’ll quickly see his true self: a devoted, affectionate best friend who just wants to be near his people. Thatch absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another friendly or playful pup to show him the ropes. He enjoys playing with toys — both with humans and his dog friends — and when he gets excited, he does the cutest little prance with both front legs that will make you smile every time. He’s fully potty trained and leash trained, sleeps well in his crate at night and when left alone, and is a dream work-from-home companion, happily lounging nearby while you tackle your day. Thatch would do best in a home: With no kids With another dog who has a calm or playful temperament With adopters who are confident, patient, and committed to slow, thoughtful introductions to new people Thatch likes to know who’s around so he feels safe — and once he does, he becomes an extreme cuddler. He loves building cozy blanket forts, exploring the backyard, rolling in the grass, and soaking up the sun. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who bonds deeply and will reward your patience with endless love, Thatch might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt Thatch today!

Story
Meet Gremlin! Gremlin is an approximately six year old male chihuahua on the search for his forever home. Gremlin came into rescue after being abandoned- so as you can imagine he was quite frightened, thus how he earned his name- he showed his ferocious spirit trapped inside his tiny little body. This little chi thinks he's a very big dog, when in fact, he weighs 4.5 pounds. His size does not stop him from telling all resident dogs what to do (even the 50 pound one!) and doesn't keep him from telling his foster humans what to do either! He spends 95% of his day on someone's lap, mostly his foster dad's. He likes to burrow and when he allows it, he really likes belly rubs. He's a lot like a cat (even though he dislikes cats immensely!); he likes rubs one minute then he tells you he's done, and he expects you to listen! He now gets zoomies after being in foster care for a few months, and likes to play with toys. He burrows in his blankets in his crate at bedtime and enjoys snuggles on the couch. He would do well with a quiet home for someone looking for a lap dog to spoil, and not someone looking for a purse dog to take on outings. He seems to prefer men, but definitely tolerates his Foster Mom when Foster Dad isn't around. The longer he's been fostered, the better he's handling other dogs in the household, but he would likely prefer to be an only dog, and no cats (as mentioned previously). Gremlin can be a bit snippy, so we are requesting experienced Chihuahua owners only apply. The funniest part about this little cranky tank is he LOVES children and has been allowed supervised play time with older kids who have experience with little dogs only. Once he warms up to you, he's quite the love bug. He has big fears, and his future forever home must understand that and protect him from those issues in order for it to be a successful situation. Gremlin is very food motivated. Gremlin is mostly potty trained, and fully pee pad and crate trained. We do not take leash walks due to his legs, but he loves the fenced in backyard. Gremlin does have issues with his knees, so he's a tad wobbly. He cannot jump up on furniture but does expect to be picked up and put there. He can do the stairs. Gremlin is neutered, fully vetted, and up to date on his vaccinations. He is microchipped. He takes monthly heartworm prevention and is heartworm negative. Other than his knee issue, does not have any medical issues. Gremlin’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
