Story
Meet Josie! Josie (aka JoJo) is a 5-year-old, 19 lb snugglehound. (OK fine, the DNA test says she's 34% dachshund, 29% terrier, 6% German shepherd, and 30% supermutt). Through no fault of her own, JoJo has bounced from place to place throughout her life, so we’re hoping to find this little sweetheart a true forever family. JoJo attaches to her humans quickly and deeply. She'd prefer to sleep in bed with you, but she'll sleep in another room if needed. Because she loves her people so much, she’d be a great match for someone who is retired or works from home. Her favorite activities are sunbathing, chasing a ball, catching bubbles, and did we mention snuggling? JoJo is house trained, but keep in mind there may be an accident or two while transitioning to her new home. She does not enjoy being crated, but is not destructive and can generally be trusted home alone in a safe area. Josie could live with a calm dog sibling or would be happy as a solo pup. She is a little bit too interested in most cats. Josie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. There will be a small rehoming fee. She is being fostered in NC, but transport to other states on the east coast is possible. If you’re interested in learning more about JoJo, please email sunnyspotfostering@gmail.com This is a courtesy listing, meaning this dog is not part of Hope Animal Rescue’s foster program. We cannot attest to the temperament or suitability of this dog for your home.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Boo Boo requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. PLEASE submit an application now at:   The link to our application is https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC          Miss Boo Boo is a very friendly and gets along fine with other dogs.  She is fostered with a pack of five other dogs.  While she does not actively interact with them, she acknowledges their presence and will push them aside so that she can receive pats from her humans. She loves her humans!!     She would do fine as an only dog or one of many. Her foster household does not have cats so we are not sure how she will get along with cats.  Her energy is low, she is such a couch potato!  She will lay with her head next to you and her eyes will look longing into yours as you pat her and show her affection.  The youngest child she has been around is 10 years old, but her temperament leads me to believe that she would do fine with children over 5 who are dog savvy.  .  Boo Boo is very food motivated but does not guard the resource. She does not need to be crated and does fine having free roaming privileges in her foster home. She is used to a fenced yard and would probably do best in a home with a fenced yard.   Boo Boo is an adorable grand lady that is looking for her forever home and would welcome the love and attention she so richly deserves.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Sadly, Boo Boo's owner passed away and she ended up in a rural shelter. Best Friend Pet Adoption stepped in knowing that senior dogs are rarely adopted from shelters and she was at risk.  We are now trying to find a good home for her.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC. Story
Meet Dougie 💙 Dougie is a 15 pound boy who looks like dachshund mix with long legs. Picture a classic dachshund silhouette… then give him a little extra runway. He’s basically a low rider who upgraded the suspension. This 1.5 year old handsome boy absolutely adores people. His favorite hobbies include: • Supervising you from room to room • Perfecting the art of couch cuddling • Soaking up pets like sunshine • Being your full time, highly committed best friend He’s house trained, walks nicely on leash, and is comfortable in a crate. Dougie would truly thrive as the star of the show. He’s not a fan of cats and can feel nervous around other dogs, so he’s happiest as an only pet. He’s unsure about young children, so a calm adult home or one with older, respectful teens would help him feel safe and confident. What Dougie is looking for is simple: A loyal human. A warm lap. A steady routine. A home where his enormous love can land. If you’re searching for a small dog with a giant capacity for attachment, affection, and companionship, Dougie might just be your perfect match.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frederick is our sweet little old man. He was found as a stray and landed in a shelter. We rescued him soon after. He was a shelter favorite and needed a dental asap. He also had some skin issues but now his skin has cleared up and he is flea free. He immediately blended in with his foster family of dogs and new humans. He loves to play with his ball and sunbathe on the deck. He is definitely a lap dog but he does love his special chair. Good with all dogs and cats, neutered and heartworm negative. Story
Winston, 7, is a loving dog who needs a more active person to be incredibly loyal to. He is a Schweenie, a cross between the loyal Shih Tzu and the bold Dachshund, known for their affectionate nature and adaptable personality. These smallish dogs are intelligent, playful, and form strong attachments with their families. Whenever we board him, he does great with other dogs and the staff always says he is so sweet; he bonds quickly with anyone who takes care of him. He has not been around kids but would become an older child's best friend in no time. He is quite protective of me. He is also great at letting us know when someone is in the driveway. We love him but feel guilty all the time because we know he wants to be with a more active owner. We will want to verify the adopter is a real home.
