He has also shown that he can walk calmly and has had positive interactions with people and dogs in some settings.Huncho is still working on his leash skills and can become very focused on exciting distractions like squirrels. He may also be hesitant about entering or leaving his kennel and can vocalize when he feels uncomfortable or pressured. His future family should be prepared to let him settle in at his own pace and continue building his confidence through positive, consistent training.

Because this gorgeous 2- 3 year old Chow is serving up a whole lot of sweetness with a side of sass! At just 32 pounds, Lo Mein is the perfect little Chow package and she came to us from a breeder, ready to trade her old life for the very best chapter yet: Family life! Lo Mein is a sweet, calm, patient girl who loves being near her people without needing to be glued to their hip. She’s the kind of pup who will happily sit beside you, soak up some head scratches, and then go about her business being her adorable little self. And her favorite place? OUTSIDE! After her morning potty break, Lo Mein loves sitting next to her foster family outside, sometimes leaning against a wall and simply taking in the world around her. She is an enthusiastic little nature observer and LOVES watching everything that moves from butterflies, dragonflies, birds, and of course squirrels… you name it! Of course, when something catches her eye, her calm and collected personality can quickly turn into the Lo Mein Zoomie Edition! She gets incredibly excited outside and will happily run around with the cutest little pouncy zoomies. She also enjoys playing with her toys and is perfectly capable of entertaining herself. Her foster family even discovered that she likes to play with her toys while making her own little commentary because apparently Lo Mein comes with her own soundtrack! Inside the house, she is generally calm and does well loose in the home. She doesn’t appear to have separation anxiety and reportedly sleeps while her foster family is away. She is also doing wonderfully with potty habits and uses potty pads when needed.  Now, every good noodle has a little spice, and Lo Mein is no exception. She is currently working on her leash training and will need a patient family willing to work with her on this skill. When she sees something exciting, her curiosity and prey drive can kick into high gear, so leash training and secure handling will be very important. She also has a big, booming bark when strangers approach the house, making her an excellent little home alarm system.  Lo Mein has two feline roommates in her foster home, but they have been kept separated because she becomes very excited around cats. For that reason, we think a cat-free home may be the best fit for her. What Lo Mein really wants is a home with a secure yard where she can safely run, explore, people-watch, and enjoy all the fascinating things happening around her. She would love a family who will give her time, patience, training, affection, and plenty of opportunities to be her happy, curious self. She may not be a Velcro dog, but don’t let that fool you. Lo Mein always remembers to come back for a little hello, a lick, and some well deserved head scratches. Lo Mein is sweet. Lo Mein is curious. Lo Mein is playful. Lo Mein is a little goofy. Potsticker needed a little more time to believe she was safe. This sweet 4 year old, 30-pound Chow girl came to us from a breeder who loved her Chows deeply and took great pride in raising dogs known for their sound, wonderful temperaments. Potsticker has spent her life surrounded by people who cared about her, and now she is learning what it means to be a beloved house dog and to have a family all her own. And Potsticker is approaching this next chapter at her own pace. She's a go-with-the-flow kind of gal. She wakes up when you wake up, sleeps peacefully in her own little spot in the living room, and when she sees that her person is up, she'll get up and come say hello. Her mornings start with a quick potty break, breakfast around 7:00 and then one of her favorite things: a walk. Potsticker really enjoys going for walks and exploring the world around her. She's still learning the finer points of this whole leash business, and she can pull quite strongly, particularly when something catches her attention or she becomes startled. Her adopter will need to be confident and attentive with her leash handling. She's not looking for a marathon, though. A nice 25–30 minute walk where she can sniff, explore and take everything in is right up her alley. When Potsticker first arrived in her foster home, she was understandably overwhelmed by all the newness. For the first couple of days, she found one spot where she felt safe and pretty much decided, “Yep. This is my spot. Everyone can carry on without me.” But then, little by little, things started to change. She began venturing a little farther. She became curious about the house. She started watching her foster mom a little more closely. Every day, she has become just a bit more comfortable, and those small steps are incredibly rewarding to watch. Potsticker is still a shy girl. If you approach her too quickly, she may decide that retreating is an excellent idea. New people, sudden movements and unfamiliar sounds can still make her nervous. But she has never shown aggression or reactivity. She is simply a gentle dog who is still figuring out what all these people, sounds and new experiences are about. What Potsticker needs most is time. She needs someone who understands that trust isn't something you demand from a dog. It's something you earn. She needs a person who can give her the space to approach when she's ready and the patience to let her discover, at her own pace, that she is safe. We can picture her beautifully in a quieter household with someone who doesn't need their dog to be the life of the party. Potsticker isn't looking for a home where there is constant activity and excitement. She's looking for someone who appreciates the quieter joys of having a Chow: a peaceful dog nearby, a leisurely walk, a favorite spot in the house and the enormous satisfaction of watching a once-nervous dog slowly decide that you are her person. She lives with another dog and mostly responds with a very Chow-like “Whatever.” She doesn't seem particularly interested in what her foster dog is doing, and when she sees other dogs on walks, she'll stop and look but doesn't feel the need to introduce herself. She's perfectly content doing her own thing. Potsticker is also completely housetrained and has had no accidents in her foster home. In true Chow fashion, she apparently believes maintaining a clean household is simply good manners. And then there is her favorite luxury: BRUSHING. Oh, does this girl love to be brushed. She closes her eyes and settles in like she's at a five-star spa. It may just be that Potsticker has been waiting her whole life for someone to understand that regular grooming is actually a wellness treatment. Her foster family is already seeing something special happening with her. Every day, she is learning a little more about trusting people. And while she isn't going to be the dog who runs up to every stranger and immediately asks for attention, that's not what makes Potsticker special. Her trust will be something you earn. And when she finally decides that you are her person, that will mean something. We believe there is a wonderfully loyal companion underneath that cautious exterior. She just needs someone willing to be patient enough to let her show you. Potsticker doesn't need someone to fix her. She needs someone who will give her the time to bloom. Adoption Fee: $650 There are some Chows who walk into a room and immediately demand to know who is in charge. And then there is Orange Chicken, who walked into rescue, took a few days to decide that this whole “people and houses” thing might actually be okay, and then basically said: “Ohhhh. THIS is the good life!” Orange Chicken is a 10 month old, 35-pound female Chow Chow who came to us from a breeder situation. She is a beautiful girl with a youthful, spunky personality that has been absolutely delightful to watch emerge. When Orange Chicken first arrived, she was very shut down and understandably unsure of her new surroundings. For the first couple of days, she mostly stayed tucked away in her kennel, quietly taking everything in. But this girl didn't stay there for long. Day by day, she began to realize that she was safe, that her new people were kind, and that there were some very interesting dogs around to show her the ropes. And once Orange Chicken decided she was ready to participate in life? HELLO, ORANGE CHICKEN! Her personality started popping out everywhere. She loves to frolic around the yard, explore her surroundings, and follow the resident dogs from room to room. In fact, her foster's senior dog has basically become her personal tour guide, emotional-support Chow buddy, and GPS system. If he goes somewhere, Orange Chicken wants to know where. If he disappears, she goes looking for him. Apparently, Orange Chicken has decided that wherever he is must be where the party is. She absolutely loves other dogs. Her foster family says watching her with their dogs is one of the sweetest things about her. Even when the little 7-pound resident dog wasn't quite sure what to make of this much larger fluffy creature, Orange Chicken was wonderfully gentle and simply went off to find something else to do. Which is pretty impressive when you're a 35-pound Chow and your tiny roommate is giving you the canine equivalent of: “Excuse me. You are TOO BIG.” Orange Chicken's response? “Okay! I'll go find my other dog.” She's playful and youthful without being wild, and she has a wonderful curiosity about the world. Watching her transform from that initially shut-down girl into a happy, frolicking, curious Chow has been incredibly rewarding for her foster family. She also does beautifully with affection once she is comfortable. She may not immediately throw herself into someone's lap, but she has learned that human hands are pretty nice and happily allows her foster family to carry her, pet her, hug her, and show her affection. And that is what makes Orange Chicken so special. She's a girl who is learning how wonderful life can be. She is already making huge strides, and we think the right family is going to watch her confidence continue to blossom. She would especially love a home with another friendly dog who can be her buddy and help her feel comfortable as she continues experiencing all the things she missed out on earlier in life. She has already mastered some very important skills, including going in and out of the house, following her dog friends around, and being comfortable in her crate. She's still learning the finer points of being a house dog, but she's making progress. She hasn't even gotten to the really fun part yet. The world is still new to Orange Chicken. She hasn't discovered everything there is to discover. She hasn't perfected the art of being spoiled. She hasn't yet learned that there are people out there whose entire purpose in life is to tell a beautiful Chow how pretty she is. But she's getting there. And when she starts trotting around the yard with that happy little Chow expression, following her dog friends and exploring her world, you can see it: Orange Chicken is happy. She is sweet, gentle, curious, youthful, and wonderfully spunky. She needs a family who will give her time to continue building confidence and who understands that a Chow who has had a big life change may need a little patience while she figures everything out. Give her that patience, give her a canine companion if you can, give her a secure yard to explore, and most importantly, give her love. We have a feeling Orange Chicken is going to give you a whole lot back. Because this girl has gone from hiding in the back of her kennel to frolicking through the yard like she owns the place. Our Sweet, Fluffy Appetizer!  Everyone loves a good Crab Rangoon… but we think Crab Rangoon the Chow Chow might just be the best one yet! Crab is a beautiful 4–5 year old female Chow Chow, weighing 38lbs, who is learning that life can be pretty wonderful when you have kind people, cozy places to lounge, tasty treats, and plenty of time to simply be yourself. She is a calm, quiet, independent girl with a gentle personality and watching her slowly come out of her shell has been one of the sweetest things to see.  When Crab first arrived, she was understandably a little unsure about things. She likes to take her time observing the world around her and deciding what she thinks about it. She isn’t the type of dog who needs to be the center of attention every second. Instead, she prefers to sit back, watch, explore, and enjoy the day at her own pace. And honestly? She may have discovered the secret to a pretty peaceful life.  Crab absolutely LOVES her walks! The minute her people come home or head outside in the morning, Crab is watching closely because, in her mind, it must obviously be time to go for a walk! She gets excited and will happily follow along. Once she’s out exploring, she likes to take her time, stopping to sniff, investigate, and see what interesting things the world has to offer. She isn’t a dog who needs to race around, she’d much rather take a leisurely stroll and enjoy all the smells. And then there are the treats. Crab is a girl with very refined taste buds. She has made it very clear that not every snack deserves her attention. Greenies? Pass. Fake bacon? No thank you. Random dry treats? Please don’t insult me. But put some real beef, chicken, or chicken jerky in front of her, and suddenly you have her full attention! She definitely believes that if you’re going to offer a treat, it better be worthy of a five-star review.  One of the most heartwarming parts of Crab’s journey has been watching her realize that affection can be pretty great, too. She is warming up to belly rubs and ear scratches and has started showing her belly when she wants some attention. That may seem like a small thing, but for Crab, it’s a beautiful sign that her trust is growing. She’s also recently started showing more of her playful side! When her people come home, Crab has begun getting playful and silly, giving us little glimpses of the personality that’s been hiding underneath that beautiful fluffy exterior. It’s almost like she’s saying, “Okay… I think I like you guys. Maybe we can have some fun now.”  Crab is also doing wonderfully with her two smaller, middle-aged male doggy roommates. She is incredibly mellow around them and originally preferred to simply leave them alone, but she’s now starting to play with them! Watching her become comfortable enough to engage with them has been another wonderful milestone. For the most part, Crab is a quiet girl who doesn’t feel the need to announce herself to the neighborhood. She doesn’t bark much and spends a lot of her day peacefully roaming around the yard, following her people from place to place, or finding a comfortable spot to lounge and take in the view.  She’s only really spoken up a couple of times, once when a neighbor’s dog was barking and once when an adorable little puppy came near and Crab got excited enough to join in. And when she gets excited? That playful side comes out, and it’s absolutely adorable.  Crab isn’t an overly energetic dog, but she does enjoy getting out for her walks and exploring. The rest of the time, she’s perfectly content to relax. She would make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a calm, quiet, easygoing dog who doesn’t need constant entertainment. Most importantly, Crab needs someone who understands that trust takes time. She isn’t looking for someone to rush her or expect her to become an instant cuddle bug. She wants someone patient who will allow her to continue discovering the world at her own pace. In return, you’ll get to experience something incredibly special: watching a once-unsure dog slowly realize that she is safe, loved, and allowed to be herself.  Crab Rangoon would be happiest with someone who will appreciate her independent spirit while giving her plenty of love, patience, encouragement, and of course her preferred selection of premium beef and chicken delicacies.  If your idea of the perfect dog is a beautiful, fluffy, mellow companion who enjoys leisurely walks, quiet days, exploring the yard, lounging in the sunshine, and slowly becoming your best friend, Crab may be exactly the girl you’ve been waiting for. She doesn’t need a perfect home. She just needs her person, someone willing to give her the time and patience to blossom.
