FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Hi, I'm Astro, a 8-year-old Chow/Lab mix. Don't let my serious face fool you, I'm a goofy sweet guy! I like to get to know my people slowly, but once I do I love your pets and scratches and I'll even sit in your lap! I'm very food motivated and guard my food and toys with growls and can be stubborn. I love to go for walks and walk well on a leash. I know lots of commands (sit, stay, up, down, lay down, shake, wait, let's go) and love performing for treats. I was recently in a foster home and here are some of my likes/dislikes that they shared about me… Like: food!, exercise/walks and agility, butt scratches, sleeping in my crate, chewing my toys, watching out the window, music, water, other dogs, comfy beds, getting baths Don't like: brushes, towels and loud trucks Astro would do best as the only dog in a house without kids or other small animals since he can be protective and is strong. He will need a family familiar with protection breeds like chows. Astro is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped. His fee is $200.

Story
Greetings, I'm Buster, although you can call me Buster Brown - it suits me just fine. I've got a unique, burnt orange and brown coat that makes me stand out in a crowd. You might say I'm a medium-sized fellow, weighing in at around 70 pounds, and I've got a personality to match. I'm a mix with some Chow in me, which gives me that adorable square face that's just begging for a smooch. While I might come off as a little reserved at first, it doesn't take long for me to become your best friend. I've got a soft, fluffy coat that's incredibly cozy, and I'm a fan of Dr. Seuss's tales. As for my past, it hasn't always been smooth. I came to the pound with some nasty injuries on my back end, likely from a car accident. But I've healed up wonderfully and put those tough times behind me. Now, I'm all about finding a forever family to love. I'm good with people and get along with other dogs. Whether it's in a crate, on a leash, or just hanging out in the house, I'm a breeze to have around. I'd prefer a home with older kids, as I can be a bit shy with people right up in my face. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share your days with, look no further. I promise, we'll make each other's dreams come true. So, let's make a date - I'm ready for my next adventure with you! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Story
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet and good-natured. He is a beta and almost all of the other dogs love him. Some of the little male dogs like to intimidate him but he simply tries to ignore them. He is very playful and loves playing with all of them. Clifford has shown an interest in chasing cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with children. He is a bit shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. He gets scared when someone yells or talks in a mean voice. Clifford must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Kent, Arlington, or Bellingham WA. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Story
Meet ZITO - an approx. 4yr. old Chowchow! Zito is on Orcas Island, WA living with and on the property of the Founder of ADR.org (AnimalDefense Rescue.org) since the 19th of August. ZITO was rescued from a high Kill shelter in Palmdale, CA because he came in stray, like most of the dogs that are abandoned in the desert areas, or dumped like trash in areas where there is nothing to feed on or drink. Activists say the growing abandonment of dogs in CA has created an epidemic and many are turning a blind eye to. “Out of sight is out of mind for a lot of people they don’t want to think that other people do that and its evil,” activists say. And that is exactly what ZITO had to experience. ZITO was listed as euthanization candidate because he was too nervous and was not an "adoption candidate". It does not need a lot to be killed in these shelters every day. He was over 3 weeks at a vet clinic and was treated via IV to heal his Canine Coronavirus pneumonia and could not be neutered during that time at first. ZITO brings now 54 lbs. to the scale, is neutered and up to date with vaccinations, as well he is microchipped. Based on his behavior assessment, ADR.org describes him as such: ZITO is first timid with dogs he is not familiar with yet (especially females). He becomes playful with dogs that initiate his attempt to play and run around. If he cannot gauge a dog, he keeps his distance but tries later on to engage. He is calm, considerate and likes the company of a person he trusts. Within a week his behavior on leash went from "flee mode" to orderly walking and taking his time for sniffs. He adapted quite well and quick to structure being daily routines or commands. And newest pleasure he has found is getting belly scratches. He enjoys running and romping with Nicki who is also posted (both came at the same time with ground transport to WA. There are a lot of videos that ADR.org will share with you once a contact has been established. ADR.org definitively will recommend a dog-savvy adopter with acreage and a fenced outside, and ideally another dog that would fit his personality. A family environment with too many people coming and going without paying attention to him, and young children under 12 would not be the environment ZITO would be thriving in. ChowChow love and respect "their" human and do not like hectic and chaos. If you are committed to give ZITO what he deserves after all the ordeal he went through, and you want to give him a good home for the rest of his life, then please contact ADR.org by sending an email to: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org introducing yourself and sending some photos along. ADR.org and ZITO will then review all and schedule a call with you to get to know you better before sending and application. ADR.org will not respond to and FB messages. WE look forward to receiving mail from you! WOOFLY, ZITO

Story
MEET JULIAN! a young (under 5 yrs.) neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated Chowchow/Samoyed mix. He weighs about 35lbs. a real lightweight. And he is cute. JULIAN was barely alive when ADR.org saved him from the Apple valley shelter in July. And then in the clinic was diagnosed different types of canine pneumonia. His life was at risk for a week. BUT JULIAN made it, came out strong again and is now living on Orcas Island, WA with the founder of ADR.org. He has made friends already with other rescue dogs, but we would think that JULIAN is a heart breaker, and he says he prefers the females. JULIAN is not compatible with cats in a home but would like to have another dog (preferred: female) in his new home if possible. JULIAN is a good walker but also confessed to ADR.org that a nice, fenced backyard with lots of sniffing option would not be bad either providing he is not there all day by himself. JULIAN is gentle, social and curious and would be a good companion that will enjoy the presence of "his" human being(s) all day. He is crate trained and can hang out there if needed. He is also a good traveler in the car and does not get car sick. So, what are you waiting for? Please reach out to the founder with a little intro about yourself and sending some photos along Contact email is: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org JULIAN is looking forward to getting mail from you. WOOFLY Yours, JULIAN and ADR.org
