Not only did he emerge looking absolutely handsome, but he was a perfect gentleman throughout his grooming session. With his soft, non-shedding coat and easygoing personality, Stroopwaffel has quickly become a favorite wherever he goes.   A Dog Who Knows What He Wants   Stroopwaffel is a happy little guy with a surprisingly expressive personality. He isn't shy about communicating with his humans and has mastered the art of politely letting you know when you're taking too long to serve dinner, head out for a walk, or provide the attention he feels is rightfully his.   But for all his opinions, he's an incredibly loving dog. One of his sweetest habits is thanking his people after meals by rubbing his head and body against their legs like a giant furry cat. It's his special way of showing appreciation, and it's hard not to smile every time he does it.   He loves being near his people and often acts like a Velcro dog, following his favorite humans from room to room. At the same time, he's gaining confidence every day and is becoming more comfortable relaxing on his own when he knows his people are nearby.   When cuddle time arrives, Stroopwaffel has a unique approach: he doesn't gently ease into your personal space. Instead, he enthusiastically launches himself beside you like a furry cannonball. Despite being a solid 17 pounds, he's fully convinced he's lap-sized and sees no reason not to climb aboard.   The Perfect Balance of Adventure and Relaxation   Stroopwaffel is wonderfully versatile. He enjoys getting outside and exploring, but he's equally happy spending a quiet evening lounging at home.   His typical day includes:   A morning walk followed by a tasty bone broth snack A lunchtime potty break and meal An evening walk around 6 p.m. Dinner, another bone broth treat, and relaxation time One final outing before bed   During work hours, Stroopwaffel relaxes comfortably in his x-pen, where he's content to nap, chew on a bully stick, and listen to dog-approved classical music. (He's a cultured gentleman, after all.)   Walking Buddy Wanted   If there is one thing Stroopwaffel absolutely loves, it's going for walks.   He approaches every outing with enthusiasm and curiosity, eager to see what's happening in the neighborhood. He gets excited when meeting other dogs and happily greets them with friendly sniffs.   Like many shelter dogs adjusting to home life, he can be a bit enthusiastic on leash and tends to pull when he gets excited. His foster family has been working with him, and he's already making progress.   Given the chance, Stroopwaffel seems like the type of dog who would happily join his family on hikes, outdoor adventures, patio outings, or any activity that allows him to explore the world alongside his people.   Easygoing and Well-Mannered   Stroopwaffel has proven to be a very easy dog to live with. While his foster can't say for certain whether he was fully house-trained before arriving, he has had no accidents when kept on his regular walking schedule.   He's not destructive, doesn't dig, and has little interest in chewing things around the house. He occasionally uses his voice to communicate, but he's far from a nuisance barker. Most of the time, if he's barking, it's simply because he wants to remind you that he's waiting on something important.   He's also very responsive when called, eager to engage with his people, and generally wants to be part of whatever is happening.   Looking for His Perfect Match   Stroopwaffel's dream home is one filled with love, companionship, and plenty of opportunities for adventure.   Whether it's a hike, a stroll around the neighborhood, a lazy afternoon on the couch, or simply following you from room to room, Stroopwaffel is happiest when he's sharing life with his humans.   Why You'll Love Stroopwaffel   Because he's the complete package: handsome, affectionate, funny, responsive, and endlessly charming.   He's the kind of dog who makes you laugh when he body-slams into your side for cuddles, melts your heart when he thanks you after meals, and reminds you every day how wonderful it is to have a loyal companion by your side.   Stroopwaffel has already left shelter life behind. Now he's ready to find the forever family that will adore him as much as he deserves—and trust us, that's going to be very easy.June 13, 2026, 11:48 am

All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Triscuit, the belly rub connoisseur!   At 4 years old and just under 10 pounds, Triscuit is a scruffy little Terri-poo with soft cloud-like hair, expressive opinions, and a heart that desperately wants to trust and belong. He came to rescue with his buddy Ritz after being picked up as a stray, and while it’s clear life hasn’t always been easy for him, watching him discover the comforts of home has been incredibly rewarding.   When Triscuit first arrived, the world inside a house seemed completely foreign to him. Leashes? Confusing. Walks? Absolutely not. On his very first evening walk attempt, he froze completely and had to be gently carried to the grass. By the next morning, treats helped convince him to take a few tiny steps. By day three? He was excitedly wagging at the sight of the leash and proudly trotting through the neighborhood like he’d been doing it his whole life.   Now, walks are one of his favorite things.   Daily Life with Triscuit   Triscuit wakes up sometime between 6:30–8:00 AM. Most mornings he quietly waits for his humans to get up, though occasionally he’ll let out a tiny bark to politely remind everyone that breakfast and bathroom breaks are important business.   He eats twice a day and enjoys two walks daily. Depending on the timing, he may choose breakfast first or adventure first — he’s flexible like that.   During the day, Triscuit likes to keep tabs on his people without necessarily being glued to them. He’ll lounge a few sofa cushions away, curl up in a nearby dog bed, sprawl across the cool kitchen tiles, or supervise backyard activities from the yard. He follows his foster around the house in a sweet, quiet way, settling nearby once he decides you’re staying put for a while.   At night, he happily sleeps in his crate in the bedroom and genuinely seems to enjoy having his own cozy little den. Sometimes he’ll even tuck himself in there during the day when he wants to relax.   Professional Belly Rub Solicitor   If Triscuit had a full-time job, it would be convincing humans to rub his belly.   This boy LOVES affection — on his terms. He has perfected the dramatic belly flop maneuver and will happily roll over for scratches whenever an opportunity presents itself. While he’s not exactly a velcro lap dog, he absolutely wants to be near his people and involved in whatever’s going on.   One of the funniest things about him? He sleeps completely upside down with all four legs sticking straight into the air like a tiny fluffy fainting goat. Deep sleep in this house apparently requires maximum dramatic flair.   Smart, Sensitive, and Still Learning   Triscuit is a sensitive little guy who appreciates respectful handling and predictable interactions. While he adores people, there were a couple of moments where he gave warnings when someone reached to pet him without checking in first while he was resting nearby. Because of this, he’d do best in a home with older children or adults who understand canine boundaries and will allow him space when he’s relaxing.   The beautiful thing about Triscuit is that despite whatever hardships he experienced before rescue, he still chooses connection. He seeks out affection constantly, follows his people around, and genuinely wants to bond.   Social Butterfly with Opinions   Triscuit loves seeing people and dogs on walks and would happily greet every living creature in the neighborhood if allowed. He gets excited when spotting dogs from afar and sometimes barks because he’s eager to say hello. That said, he has also shown he can settle beautifully in public spaces. He accompanied his foster to both an office and a café and, after an initial adjustment period, relaxed quietly on a dog bed or watched the world go by while his human enjoyed coffee with friends.   Future Home Dreams   Triscuit would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands he’s still learning how to “dog” in a family environment.   Most of all, he needs adopters who appreciate the incredibly rewarding process of helping a shy, uncertain dog continue blossoming into his best self.   Underneath the cautious moments and occasional barking is a goofy little sweetheart with impossibly soft fluffy hair, an endless desire for belly rubs, and a talent for sleeping upside down like it’s an Olympic sport.   Whoever adopts Triscuit won’t just be getting a dog — they’ll get to be part of his next chapter, and that’s something pretty special.June 13, 2026, 11:48 am

This adorable 12-pound Maltipoo mix is estimated to be 2–3 years old and was rescued from a shelter, where his next chapter was just waiting to begin.   With his soft, fluffy coat and soulful eyes, Sandal is impossible not to fall for. His coat appears to shed very little, though it may not be suitable for people with severe allergies.   A Quiet Companion with a Big Heart   Sandal is one of those dogs who doesn't need to be the center of attention to win everyone over. He's calm, loving, and exceptionally well-mannered. In fact, he hardly ever barks.   While he isn't much of a lap dog, Sandal loves being near his people. You'll often find him relaxing on the couch, snoozing in a dog bed, stretched out on a rug, or quietly keeping you company from across the room. He likes knowing where his humans are and prefers not to wander too far away.   When Sandal first arrived in foster care, he was quite timid. During walks, he would often want to cross the street to avoid other dogs, especially larger ones. Since then, he's blossomed into a much more confident pup. He now enjoys greeting other dogs, exchanging sniffs, and accepting pets from friendly strangers.   And while he may play it cool around his foster, Sandal has made it very clear that he knows how to become attached. He absolutely adores his foster's cousin and a neighbor with a dog, sticking to them like Velcro whenever they visit.   Professional Walker, Amateur Squirrel Chaser   Sandal loves his daily walks and has a wonderful routine. His day typically includes:   A 20-minute morning walk between 7–9 a.m. A short stroll around the block later in the day A 30-minute evening walk between 5–7 p.m. One last quick potty break before bedtime   On leash, Sandal keeps up a brisk pace, stopping occasionally to investigate interesting smells or leave a few messages for the neighborhood dogs on fire hydrants and telephone poles. He may pull a little with excitement when it's time to head out, but he settles into a pleasant walking rhythm once underway.   He doesn't bark at dogs on walks, doesn't chase squirrels, and is becoming more confident with every outing.   Homebody Extraordinaire   At home, Sandal is more of a lounger than an athlete. He's perfectly content relaxing near his people and watching the world go by. He has recently started enjoying some off-leash playtime with neighborhood dogs, and his foster suspects his playful side may continue to emerge as he becomes more comfortable.   Sandal is both house-trained and crate-trained. He patiently waits to go outside to do his business and has shown excellent manners around the home. He doesn't chew, dig, or get into mischief.   A Sensitive Soul   One thing to know about Sandal is that he loves his people deeply. Being left alone is hard for him, and he'll sometimes bark or whine when his person leaves. The good news? His joy when you return is enough to make anyone feel like a celebrity walking onto a red carpet.   Because of this, Sandal would thrive in a home where he can enjoy plenty of companionship and be included in everyday life.   Fun Facts About Sandal   Sandal has a few charming quirks that make him unforgettable.   For starters, he occasionally hops like a rabbit when he's hurrying across the lawn or navigating stairs. It's as adorable as it sounds.   And then there was the Great Budgie Encounter. One day, Sandal met a tiny parakeet and was far more concerned about the bird than the bird was about him. While the brave little budgie waddled confidently toward him, Sandal politely backed away, unsure what to make of this fearless feathered creature. His foster couldn't stop laughing.   Looking for His Forever Home   Sandal's ideal home is one where he can enjoy regular walks, lots of companionship, and plenty of opportunities to simply be near the people he loves.   He's affectionate without being demanding, calm without being boring, and gentle without being shy. Most of all, he's a joy to have around.   If you're looking for a loyal little sidekick who will quietly follow along through life's adventures—and occasionally bounce like a bunny while doing it—Sandal may be exactly the companion you've been waiting for.June 13, 2026, 11:48 am
