Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $800 Meet Mango – Your New Gentle Companion   Say hello to Mango, a 5 year old, 19.6 lb poodle mix with a soft, non-shedding coat—making him a great option for those with allergies. This charming gentleman is the full package: calm, sweet, curious, and just the right amount of quirky.   Daily Life With Mango Mango starts his day with a leisurely 20-minute morning walk, followed by a casual approach to breakfast— he’s more of a grazer than a gobbler. After a little playtime (he’s mastered the “go get it” part of fetch, still working on the “bring it back” part), Mango settles in for a day of chill companionship. Whether it’s a trip to Target, a visit to a friend’s house, or lounging at the nail salon, Mango is always down for the ride. He’s an easygoing sidekick, equally happy on adventures or curled up on the couch.   Dinner happens around 6 or 7, followed by more snuggles and downtime, and he’ll end the night snoozing peacefully on your bed—often making gentle little gurgling noises as he dreams (probably about squirrels).   Personality & Temperament When Mango first arrived at his foster home, he was calm and observant. Since then, he’s bloomed into an affectionate, soulful companion. He isn’t clingy, but he likes to be nearby— following you from room to room, quietly keeping you company with those wise, expressive eyes. Mango greets humans with quiet grace: no jumping, just a calm hello. He’s not a big barker (in fact, his foster has never heard him bark!), and he’s the kind of pup who brings a grounded, peaceful presence into your home.   Social Life Mango has been polite and friendly with dogs he’s met on walks and at the Safehouse. While he prefers calm energy and may give a gentle warning growl if another dog gets too rambunctious, he mostly just enjoys sniffing around and hanging out. He hasn’t lived with kids, but he charmed a group of nine-year-old girls at the nail salon, and his calm, gentle nature suggests he’d do great with respectful children.   Ideal Home Mango would thrive in a wide range of homes— from a quiet apartment to a family house with a yard. He’s a great fit for first-time dog owners, experienced adopters, or anyone looking for a mellow, low-maintenance buddy.   Good to Know *Leash manners: Great! He enjoys walking slightly ahead, ready to explore. *Housetraining: Reliable on a schedule. Had a one-time oops near some dog gear but learned quickly. *Crate: Not crate-trained, but no issues being left alone and doesn’t chew or dig. *Barking: Basically silent. Yep, seriously. *Energy level: Likes short play sessions and walks, but is mostly a laid-back lounger. *Car rides: Loves sticking his head out the window like a pro.   What Makes Mango Special? He’s incredibly easy, adaptable, and sweet. Mango doesn’t come with a list of behavior challenges or special needs—he just needs a comfy place to be his gentle, soulful self. He’ll make you smile every time he prances around with a toy in his mouth or curls up beside you for a nap.   If you're looking for a steady, soft-hearted companion who will love you quietly and completely—Mango might just be your perfect match.    June 20, 2025, 7:11 pm

Story
Hello my name is George and I am Aliki's Pet Parent. Aliki is looking for a new home. Aliki is a Female Poodle, 12 years old, 12 pounds est. Spade This sweet soul has been with our family since a puppy. Aliki is as gentle as they come. We tood her to puppy training and this is the best thing we did, as she still listens to commands etc. She is looking for a calm new forever home where she can live out her golden years in your lap. I used to take her to visit my father (her grandfather) in the nursing home, she would go to each room and visit with at least 5 residents before getting to my dads room. This was her favorite activity. Aliki is in good health. She has all her health records. This sweet girl would love to go to a home with seniors or kids, as she would make a great companion. Story
Rover is ready for his second chance at life in San Francisco. Waiting to board his flight upon adoption. Background: Rover was rescued from a puppy mill in Boryeong, Korea in the fall of 2023. After his rescue, he stayed at a local shelter. But while many people came looking for young, playful puppies, no one looked twice at Rover. He waited and waited, but no one came for him. Eventually, the shelter gave up hope of finding him a home. When we heard about Rover’s story, we knew we had to help. He had already been through so much, and all he wanted was a quiet, loving home. This spring, Rover finally came into our care, and now he’s ready for the next chapter of his life. Personality and Socialization: Rover is a quiet, gentle boy with a calm and low-energy nature. He’s happiest in a peaceful spot where he can relax, watch the world go by, and soak up the sunshine. He enjoys the company of humans and likes staying close to his person. He’s sweet in his own soft way and doesn’t demand attention—he just quietly loves being near you. Rover is good with people—gentle, friendly, and not shy. With other dogs, he’s very submissive and polite. He avoids loud, hyper, or dominant dogs, but feels comfortable around calm, well-mannered ones. He’s never been in a fight and prefers peace and quiet over chaos. Rover hasn’t had experience with cats or young children. However, with slow and proper introductions, he would likely be fine—especially in a calm environment. Behaviour: Rover is easy to care for. He’s calm in the car, well-behaved during baths and vet visits, and doesn’t bark or act out. He hasn’t shown any signs of separation anxiety and is not destructive. While he’s still learning leash walking, he follows his person nicely and enjoys his walks. He also uses pee pads when needed. Health and Diet: Rover is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and takes monthly parasite prevention. He has no known allergies and eats dry kibble well. He recently had a full vet checkup, including dental work and scaling. Rover is healthy and ready for his forever home. Ideal Home: Rover would do best in a calm, quiet home—perhaps with a senior or someone who works from home or even a single person. He doesn’t need much, just a peaceful space and someone to love. He’ll be okay being left alone for a few hours and will simply wait patiently for you to return. Rover is a gentle and loyal companion. He may not be the bouncy puppy everyone rushes to adopt, but for the right person, he’ll be everything they’re looking for—a sweet, gentle, loyal friend who just wants to share a peaceful life together. We believe there’s a perfect family out there waiting for him. Maybe it’s with you. Apply to adopt Rover through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/rover-2/

This irresistibly fluffy Bichon mix has a non-shedding coat (great for allergy-sensitive homes or people who just hate lint-rolling furniture), and a heart as soft as his curls.   Sandwich starts his mornings like a true romantic: curled up beside you, requesting (read: insisting on) a hand resting somewhere on his body at all times. After a slow cuddle-filled wake-up, he’s off on a 30-minute walk around the neighborhood. This is his favorite part of the day— he loves sniffing the world and making new friends, both human and canine. Once he’s back, it’s breakfast time, which he devours like a dog who appreciates fine cuisine—but not without making sure you’re nearby for emotional support, of course.   When you’re getting ready for work, Sandwich is right there, supervising every detail like a small, furry manager. He’s not thrilled when you leave, but he’s mature about it—he’ll find a sunny spot to nap in and patiently wait for your return. He’s been left home alone for up to six hours with no accidents, no destruction, and no dramatic protest speeches. When you’re back? It’s time for another walk, some quality dog-meeting, a good dinner, and more cuddles—because Sandwich doesn’t believe in personal space, only personal connection.   He’s a velcro dog to his core— once he decides you’re his person. On his first day, he was cautious and hesitant, but once he knew he was safe, he never wanted to leave his foster’s side. He’s still a little wary of some men (especially those with beards), but he’s been open and friendly with others. He’s not a fan of grooming and will speak up if something makes him uncomfortable, but he’s already shown improvement, even after just two baths. Sandwich knows who he loves, and when he loves you—he really loves you.   He’s currently cohabiting peacefully with a 50 lb dog named Moses. While they were unsure of each other at first, they warmed up and now enjoy walks and the occasional play session together. Sandwich is respectful on leash, only pulling when he gets a little too excited to greet a dog, person, or rogue squirrel. With a gentle redirect, he’s right back to strolling politely. He’s also house-trained and doesn’t chew or dig. He’ll bark when the doorbell rings or guests arrive, often joining in the chorus with the resident dog, but otherwise he’s more of a lover than a barker.   Sandwich is playful, affectionate, and intuitive— happy to romp or relax, depending on your mood. He has the soul of a lap dog and the energy of a companion who’s always up for a stroll or a snack. While he hasn’t met kids or cats yet, he’d do best in a home with folks who want a loyal, loving little shadow.   He’s not perfect—just perfectly himself. A little quirky, a little choosy, a lot lovable. Once Sandwich picks you, you’ve got a friend for life.                    June 18, 2025, 1:03 pm
