Story
Silverstone has that easygoing charm that makes everyone fall for him right away. His white wiry coat gives him a bit of style, and he’s always curious about what’s going on around him. He likes to take his time checking out new places before settling in for some well-deserved pets and cuddles. He’s just the right size for curling up next to you and has a calm, thoughtful vibe that makes him a total sweetheart to be around. Silverstone is the kind of dog who makes any day feel a little more peaceful and a lot more lovable.
Here's some notes from his foster:
Don’t call me ‘Alicia’” Silverstone is a smart and fun and friendly little dude. Like all Muttville dogs, he's sweet and resilient and adaptable. It's been practically effortless fostering him.
Silverstone walks well on a leash and loves going outside. Even when he's inside, he gravitates and stands by the screen door. Being blind doesn’t hamper his enjoyment of the great al fresco. He walks at a decent pace and sometimes even breaks into a jog. He's very curious-inside and outside the house. On leash, Silverstone doesn't require much incentive moving forward; he just needs someone to gently guide him north, south, east or west. Off leash in an open area, Silverstone isn't shy about exploring his surroundings. He likes to use his sniffer. Trees, bushes, ivy, fences - it's all interesting to him. Silverstone walks confidently but is smart enough to be careful when the grounds dips or drops. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in endurance. But once he's had enough exploring, he'll lay down.
Silverstone is housebroken. He isn't destructive or messy, but he barks when he needs or wants something. Fortunately, the barking is short-lived. He rides well in my car, sleeps through the night (on my bed), and gets along with my dogs and cats. He acclimated quickly and immediately made himself at home right away. On the ground, he'll find a dog bed or a piece of carpet or a blanket and make himself comfy. Silverstone likes treats and wants what's on my plate, but he's a little picky when it comes to what's for his breakfast and dinner. I've found that he likes Farmer's Dog pork recipe. He has a soft mouth and doesn't chomp on my fingers when I give him treats. He's a bit of a camel when it comes to drinking water. He doesn't drink often but drinks for a long time.
Dog gates are useful. For some reason, he likes to go up my stairs on his own. But he will not go down on his own because he can't see. He rides very well in the car - so well that he falls asleep instantly. He is also good in elevators.
Silverstone likes toys. He likes to rub his face on carpet. He's fine with meeting new people and new dogs. Less than 24 hours after I picked him up, he was coming up to me and asking to be picked up. Incidentally, he fits very well in my arms, almost like he's sitting up. He likes to curl up next to me in bed. He's a very sound sleeper. It's fun coming home from work (yes, he can be left unattended for some time) and being greeted by him and his little wagging nub. Silverstone isn't at all aggressive. He'd rather sniff a tree than another dog, but he isn't bothered when dogs sniff him.
Looks are deceiving. At first glance, people seem to think Silverstone is older than he is. But once they observe him, it's clear that he's an active and unreluctant dog. He's not a dog that needs to come out of his shell. I think he would make a great pet for someone who likes to go on walks and take him to fun places where he can walk and explore.
