Story
Rumi and her brother Rolex entered the Kern County Animal Services system when they were picked up as strays. Rumi is doing well in her foster home, but is definitely a bit shy. She loves men, so that's a good sign. Rumi is very kind and sweet, but will flourish with exposure, training and building her self esteem. She is just a lovely dog and I know you will love her too. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
I was found all alone in a Little Caesar's parking lot, but thankfully, some kind people made sure I was safe and helped me find my way to Valley Dog Rescue. Now I'm waiting for a forever family to call my own. I am a sweet, gentle guy who loves people, enjoys treats, and gets along well with other calm dogs. Most days, you'll find me napping, lounging, or soaking up the simple pleasures in life, though I still get excited for my walks and have a goofy side that likes to make an appearance. You may notice I only have one eye and am a little hard of hearing. I also have a few minor age-related medical needs, but the vet has checked me out, and I am doing great. All I need now is a loving home where I can spend my golden years being your loyal companion! [Caesar is 10 years old and weighs 17 lbs.] If you'd like to meet Caesar, please contact Maria: (734) 536-2098 or maria@valleydogrescue.com Note: This is a courtesy posting for our fellow rescuer, which means that even though this animal does not belong to our group, we are here to help those who need to find a home for their animals. We are merely helping them gain exposure on the Internet by serving as a conduit to make the initial contact with the potential homes, and we are not responsible for the content of this post. All future communications and arrangements are solely between you and the above contact person. (2606)

Story
My dog is a cockapoo; he is eleven years old, even though he’s up there in age he is still very playful, he loves to go for walks, he hasn’t gotten out lately due to my busy schedule unfortunately. he’s very friendly. I got my pet when I was nine years old, he was gifted to me. I’m looking for someone who’s experienced with animals, someone that can give more to my pet than I’ve given him, someone who has time to take him on usual walks, to be playful with him. He also has an ear infection which is very important to keep up to date with.

Story
Meet Hirit! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 3 year old that was rescued from a kill shelter before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Hirit and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app June 12, 2026, 6:28 pm

Story
Simmba has been waiting for his forever home for over a year now at Shelter Hope. Simmba is a 3 y/o and 13 lb Poodle mix who was surrendered the day after Christmas 2024. Before that, he lived only outdoors and received less attention as his family’s children grew older. Despite this, Simmba has a huge heart and blossoms with patience, consistency, and kindness. Simmba loves fetch, squeaky toys, and zooming or rolling through the grass, as well as soaking up the sun on his favorite bench. Indoors, he keeps his lamby toy close, happily offers enthusiastic face kisses, and adores cuddles, belly rubs, and simply being near his people. He also respects boundaries and will retreat to his bed or “sanctuary” when asked. His foster tells us he seems fully potty trained, food-motivated, and already knows the “sit” command. Simmba can be protective and sometimes needs help navigating his big feelings (which is why he’s often called a “project dog”) but he bonds deeply and is incredibly loyal once trust is built. He does have some skin allergies, possibly food-related, and currently wears a cone to prevent licking, though it doesn’t slow down his playful, quirky personality. He does best in a calm, low-chaos environment, where he can grow more confident and relaxed. His foster is actively socializing him with new people and other dogs, and he’s making excellent progress. With his fun-loving nature, Simmba could do well as an only dog or with another small, friendly, playful female dog as a companion. What he truly needs is a home without kids who is willing to give him the time and understanding he’s waited so long for. Simmba has so much love to give. All he’s missing is his forever home 🐾 ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Story
Deon Coal is a 5 year old miniature poodle with a gentle spirit and lots of love to give. Deon came to Shelter Hope after several shifts in what he knew as his home. He was taken in by a good samaritan when his owner could no longer keep him. This person took good care of him but Deon suffered a lot of anxiety whenever his new caregiver was away from home. Feeling he would be better off with someone who could be with him more of the time, he was brought to Shelter Hope where he is excitedly awaiting his forever home.. Deon is most content when he can be by your side, and will happily follow you around the house. He won't care what you're doing as long as he can be with you! He enjoys rides in the car and at just 9 pounds he makes for an easy travel companion. He also loves walks and does well on a leash. Because he has some separation anxiety Deon will do best in a home where someone is around a good deal of the time and there are no other dogs as he is not fond of sharing his caregiver with other canines. He is a loyal boy, quick to bond with his special someone. If you're looking for a loyal companion, ready to be your best buddy, Deon just might be your guy. Looking to Adopt?
