Rumi and her brother Rolex entered the Kern County Animal Services system when they were picked up as strays. Rumi is doing well in her foster home, but is definitely a bit shy. She loves men, so that's a good sign. Rumi is very kind and sweet, but will flourish with exposure, training and building her self esteem. She is just a lovely dog and I know you will love her too. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. 5/12/26- What a lil plushy baby. Mama came in with a few other dogs. She was pregnant and gave birth. They said the dad is a cockapoo. Both parents are under 20 lbs. Mama is a super sweet girl who loves everyone and enjoys children other dogs and loves everyone she meets. She is also available for adoption. Meet Hirit! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 3 year old that was rescued from a kill shelter before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea. We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable. Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth. If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away. Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat. Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South Korea, and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men. Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions. The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Hirit and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life. These are miracle dogs that they are alive today. Ruby is a 5-year-old, 18 lb Maltese mix who came from an unimaginably neglectful situation. She had been living outside in a filthy crate covered by a tarp, with a severely matted coat. She had such advanced dental disease that her jaw fractured as a result. Despite everything she has endured, Ruby has continued to amaze us every step of the way with her strength, sweetness, and determination. Ruby has recovered from her dental and her jaw fracture is healed. You can tell how much happier she is as a result! Ruby's back left leg has a partial amputation, which we don't know the history of. It doesn't seem to bother her and she gets around just fine on 3 legs. We are working to get her fitted for a prosthetic that she can wear long term. Ruby was also diagnosed with a heart murmur, but she is on medication for this and hasn't been symptomatic. This should be monitored with follow up echocardiograms as needed. Since coming into rescue, she has grown stronger and healthier, blossoming into a happy little companion who is ready to begin her next chapter with a loving family of her own. Ruby is friendly, affectionate, and enjoys the company of other dogs and even cats too. She loves car rides, adventures, and being close to her people. Ruby is also extremely well-mannered in the home and has a calm, gentle presence that makes her such a joy to be around. After all she’s been through, Ruby deserves a family who will cherish her, spoil her, and show her the love and safety she’s always deserved. Meet our absolutely perfect girl, Pebbles! She is an approx 8/9 year old, 21lb, Bichon/Poodle mix that is THE sweetest dog ever! Pebble came to our rescue in 2021 when we saved her from a local shelter where she was brought in with a leg injury and was at risk of being euthanized. We got Pebbles out and straight to our vet where they did an FHO surgery on her leg and have her a couple months of recovery, she was good as new! Pebbles was adopted a few years ago and late last year her owner surrendered her back to us due to personal reasons. We are looking for a forever home for our sweet girl that has another nice and playful dog. Once Pebbles warms up, she will initiate play and loves to run around and chase her dog friends. She is such a good dog all around. She is calm, mellow, playful, happy, and so loving! Her favorite thing is belly rubs! We are looking for a home that has owners that are not gone long hours during the day and has a safe/secure backyard. This handsome boy is Freddie and he is an approx 9 month old, Maltese/Poodle mix with maybe a touch of Spaniel(best guess?) that is THE sweetest boy ever! He came into our rescue when we were notified that a puppy at a local shelter had 24 hours before he was set to be euthanized. He was brought in with his mom and brother and they all got adopted separately. Freddie was returned the next day as the adopters self diagnosed him as having seizures because he was trembling. This gave him a death sentence at the shelter. We were asked if we could help and we got him out within hours and got Freddie to our vet and then to a neurologist who diagnosed him with Cerebeller Hypoplasia. Please google for more info, but basically it is a non progressive condition that makes the puppies/dogs exhibit wobbly movements, head bobbing, and jerky movements. Freddie has a mild case and can get around perfectly. In fact, he acts like any other playful puppy. We are looking for a home for him with another VERY playful dog or better yet, he can be adopted with is best friend, Tali, a female, 4 year old, Maltipoo. That would be the best for him as he is very attached to her. A home with a yard is a must along with owners that are not gone long hours during the day. Freddie is such a wonderful dog with the best personality! He loves everyone he meets and we know that his forever home is out there! Freddie is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Fun, Friendly, And Such A Happy Girl....Meet Tali! This lovely little girl is Tali and she is a 3 year old, 17lb, Maltipoo (Maltese/Poodle mix) with maybe a touch of Schnauzer. Whatever she is...she is such a cutie! Tali came to us when she was found abandoned on the scary streets of Tijuana. Thankfully, an amazing rescuer we work with out there found her and got her to safety. She reacheded out to our foundation and asked if we could take her in and we said yes! She is happy, playful, fun, energetic, and full of love! Tali is always the dog that can open up any dog and get them to play! She is very bonded to her good buddy Freddie a 9 month old Spaniel/Maltese mix that has Cerebeller Hypoplasia, so we are looking to place them together. A home with a safe and secure yard is a must as she loves to run around and do the zoomies! Owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal.
