Story
Chuck! Chuck recently joined us from one of our rescue partners and has shown himself to be the life of the party. He is the guy who shows up with his own case of beer, is funny, has a large group of admirers (both men and women) and you just find yourself liking him, as much as you may not want to. Chuck is a 2-3 year old approx 30 lbs doodle mix who is just ready to go. Car rides? Loves 'em! Other dogs? Loves em! Kids? Loves em! (do you see a theme here) He is playful and would love a family willing to include him in some adventures. He is good in a crate, appears to be housebroken (or mostly so, he may have some accidents getting used to a new routine and environment). Although Chuck was originally found as a stray he was clearly a loved pet at some point, and even knows to sit politely as soon as he thinks treats are a possibility. Chuck is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm tested negative and up to date on preventatives. Interested in adopting Chuck? Please fill an application out at dogtownrescue.org Please note: An approved application and appointment are required to meet any of our dogs. Dolly is a very sweet 2 year old cockapoo. She loves children and women but is afraid of men. Dolly is house trained if kept on a schedule, sleeps in a crate at night and walks fairly well on a leash. She would do best in a yard that is fenced. Dolly is up to date on all of her shots, spayed and microchipped. Pa Kennel License # 07735

Tazzie, 16yro cockapoo. Spayed female. Very friendly and in generally good health for her age. Owner has been moved into a nursing home and a family member is paying to temporarily board Tazzie at a local clinic. Obviously the adoption fee is greatly reduced. We just want a safe space for her to spend the rest of her days

Story
Roman is a 7 yr old Doodle I adopted from a California nonprofit rescue as a puppy. Roman has the personality of a cat—introverted, independent, sassy, spunky, and silly. He loves humans, enjoys naps, and has the funniest sound effects to communicate. He's trained, relatively low-maintenance, and has lots of travel experience. Having to rehome Roman is difficult but Roman has some resource-guarding behaviors that can become more pronounced when he is stressed and as I am pregnant, I cannot confidently say he is safe around young children. This is not a decision I want to make, but one I feel I need to make for both my baby’s and Roman’s safety. He would do best with adults or older/teenage children who understand and respect his boundaries. He likes other dogs but prefers his own space and finds grooming and vet visits scary (but as needed meds help!). My greatest hope is to find Roman a loving home where he will be safe, understood, and deeply loved.

Story
Teddy is a very sweet boy. I had him since he was less than 1 year old. He’s good and sweet and house trained. He just lack behavioral training- esp since Covid. He was not around many people and when he acted out, we did not properly addressed and trained him. How he can be a little snappy. But overall he’s very sweet and smart. He is very food driven. Can show some signs of resource guarding such as food and toys. We have a toddler and a newborn and cannot handle the stress of baby getting in his face and risk an accident.

Story
🐾 Meet Flora! 🐾 Are you up for a little challenge and ready to make a BIG difference in a timid dog’s life? Then sweet Flora may be the girl you’ve been waiting for! 💕 Flora is a 2-year-old, 17-pound Cockapoo who is still learning what it means to be a beloved family dog. Her past didn’t give her the opportunity to simply be a puppy, and she is now learning—at her own pace—how wonderful life can be. Flora is a very shy and sensitive girl, but she is making progress every day. She is slowly learning to let her guard down, carry toys around, and even have a little fun! She has started playing short games of chase with her foster sibling in the yard, and watching her tail wag as she gains confidence has been incredibly rewarding. 🥰 She is still nervous around people, especially when they stand up or move toward her. She may freeze or tense up when she feels unsure, so she needs a family who understands that trust takes time. She isn’t going to run into your arms on day one—and that’s okay! Her family will need to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. Flora is doing well with potty training and knows that her business belongs outside. Coming back into the house after potty breaks and exploring the yard can still be a challenge, but she is learning. With patience and a few extra minutes to decompress, she is becoming more comfortable with the routine. Her leash skills are also a work in progress. She does best walking on a harness and has made great strides from where she started. Having another confident dog around has helped her tremendously, and we believe a friendly canine companion in her forever home could help Flora continue to blossom. A secure, fenced-in yard would be ideal for her. Flora is also wonderfully tolerant when it comes to grooming and handling. She allows her foster family to bathe her, brush her, and trim her nails. She simply needs people who will respect her boundaries and allow her to build trust rather than expecting her to immediately become a cuddly lap dog. One of Flora’s cutest quirks? She prefers to eat when the house is quiet. During the day, she may leave her food untouched, but once the lights go out and everyone settles in for the night, she happily munches away. It’s just another reminder that this sweet girl needs to feel safe and secure before she can completely relax. Flora isn’t looking for a perfect family—she’s looking for a patient one. ❤️ She needs someone who will celebrate the little victories: the first toy she proudly carries, the first time she chooses to come closer, the first playful zoom around the yard, and eventually… those precious puppy kisses we’ve been waiting for. If you have the patience to let Flora blossom at her own pace, the reward will be watching a frightened little girl discover that she is finally safe, loved, and home. 🐾💗 Flora is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. If you think you could be the patient, loving family Flora needs, apply today! 🌐 https://www.zoeshouserescue.com/adopt 🏡 **Adoption Requirements:** Potential adopters must be willing to travel to **Berks County, Pennsylvania**, for a meet and greet. If you have current residential dogs, **all resident dogs must attend the meet and greet**. Kennel License #9117 PO Box 2372 Reading, PA 19608
