Story
Morty: Super fluffy (handsome!) blind senior Cocker Spaniel Morty is looking for his retirement home!  Morty was recently rescued from an impoverished shelter in Fresno CA (an infamous site of dog dumping). We love him dearly but our resident senior Shepsky has made life difficult for him. Although not neutered (shockingly this was not done at the shelter) he is fully vaccinated and on maintenance Apoquel chews for itchy skin. He has one of the most beautiful coats you will ever see. Truly a giant fluffball! Although fully blind Morty gets around just fine with his exquisite sense of smell to navigate familiar surroundings. We would keep him in a heartbeat if not for the tension with our male Shepherd mix. Rest assured Morty LOVES the ladies (with a special fondness for our senior poodle Dolly) and humans of all ages. Contact me for additional information and to meet this handsome guy!

COURTESY POST FOR PEACE OF MIND DOG RESCUE PLEASE CONTACT Peace of Mind Dog Rescue at info@peaceofminddogrescue.org if you are interested in Junior Mint https://www.peaceofminddogrescue.org/dog.php?id=4702 Goofy, affectionate, and full of quiet charm, Junior Mint has got it all! This silly boy is happiest soaking up love. His favorite past time is spending quality time with his people. Junior Mint gets along great with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. While this boy may be a senior, he sure acts like a big puppy! Junior Mint would do best in a home that can work on his leash skills and take him for long (preferably multi-mile) walks per day! Junior Mint does have medical needs that will require ongoing attention. He came to us with very painful ears. Our medical team is working to address this and keep him comfortable but his next home will need to be ready for whatever comes next for his care. Junior Mint's joyful spirit is truly unbreakable. You would never know by his spunky personality that he is feeling less than his best. Junior Mint joined us from Santa Barbara Humane after he was sadly surrendered when his guardians could no longer care for his medical needs. Are you interested in learning more about Junior Mint? For more medical and behavior information, press the Adopt Junior Mint button and fill out our online adoption questionnaire. Our Adoption Coordinator will give you as much information as we have.

Story
Meet Zeke. This precious boy joined the NorCal family when he was found as a stray and ended up in the San Jose Shelter. We think Zeke is about 11 years old. Zeke arrived at the shelter horribly matted and dirty. It took two grooming appointments to shave him down. Hence, you will notice the before and after pictures of Zeke. Here is what Zeke's foster mom says about him: Zeke is a 21-pound velcro pup. He is happy, sweet guy. His main joy is being with his person, whether watching movies on the couch or walking in the park, Zeke is happy just being with you. He rides quietly in the car and sleeps on his own bed at night. He likes spending a few minutes during the day playing fetch with his toys. Zeke gets along well with other dogs. He welcomes new people, but is a little shy at first. Zeke needs to be in a home with someone who can be home with him the majority of the time and can take him on short walks. Zeke has been to the Vet for a full work up. He has an unusual gait, which could have been from an old back injury. Xray's do show some damage to his back. At this time, Zeke does not appear bothered. Zeke is also showing signs of some early kidney disease and is on kidney food. This sweet boy deserves a forever home to call his own. Please give Zeke a chance. If you are interested in Zeke please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Goose. Goose joined the NorCal family when his owners could no longer take care of him, due to his need for socialization and training. Goose is a joy to have around the house, but when taken out into the real world, he is scared, skittish, nervous and reactive on leash. Goose is not aggressive, he just does not appear to know how to react with other dogs and will bark and lunge and find it difficult to relax. These types of behaviors can be managed with some consistent training. Goose is affectionate, loving and loyal but also is not good with small children. This is also a common behavior with unsocialized, untrained dog. Goose needs a secure, fenced yard to run around and explore, although he wants you to be in the yard with him. He has some separation anxiety and needs to be in a home with someone that can be with him the majority of the time. Goose is potty trained, but again needs your assurance. Goose is a total love and enjoys his snuggles and pets. He needs a patient owner that can help him grow into the best dog he can be. If you are interested in Goose, please go on our website and fill out an adoption application. More pictures to come.

Story
Meet Kenny. Kenny joined the NorCal family when he was rescued from the Oakland shelter, after being found as a stray. Kenny is as sweet and loveable as his picture portrays. He is a little bit skittish and slow to warm up, when he first meets you, but as soon as he feels safe he will jump up for pets and kisses. Kenny is a really good boy. He walks well on a leash, enjoys car rides and in typical cocker style, he will follow you anywhere and quickly becomes your best friend. Kenny can be mellow and chill in the house, but is an active, energetic boy, especially if he has canine buddy to play with. He can easily jump a 4 foot fence and will run around like a crazy puppy, if given the opportunity. Kenny definitely needs a good size, secure, fenced yard to play and explore. He also has some separation anxiety, so he needs someone that can be home with him the majority of the time. Kenny is potty trained with a doggy door. Kenny has been to the Vet. Other than a heart murmur, he is in good health. If you are interested in Kenny, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application. More pictures to come!!!

Story
Bella is back! Bella thought she’d found her forever home but it wasn’t the match she had hoped for so she is back with her foster family. Bella gets along great with her foster family’s dogs and four cats. She wouldn’t mind another dog sibling in her new home. She loves hanging out in the backyard and snuggling at night. She loves walks but needs to work on pulling on the leash – she is so excited she wants to charge ahead. She likes toys and is learning how to fetch. Bella’s main challenge is meeting new people. She barks and gives a growl if they want to pet her before she is ready. Once she feels safe, she happily accepts guests even if they haven’t been over for a month or two. It may take an hour of steadfastly ignoring her while Bella decides her “stranger danger” instincts were an overreaction. Bella’s foster mom instructs people to just ignore her and wait until she is ready for a pet or two. With patience you will get a really sweet little dog. Bella is about three years old, 19 pounds and is completely housebroken. She looks to be a spaniel mix. A calm, patient household would be just the right fit for this little girl. She looks to be a spaniel mix and around 2.5 years oldSeptember 2, 2025, 8:41 am
