Story
Ruby – 5-Year-Old Cocker Spaniel (Breeder Release) Adoption Fee: $350 + tax | Apply at www.campcompanion.org Ruby is my current foster girl, and oh my gosh… she is an absolute sweetheart. She’s a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel released from a breeder, and she’s been discovering what “real life” is all about – soft beds, kind hands, treats, and a warm home. If she gets adopted before I fall head-over-heels for her, it’ll be a miracle! Ruby is a gentle, sensitive soul. When approached too quickly, she’ll pancake to the ground, unsure of what’s coming next. But with slow, calm movements and patience, she melts right into the sweetest little dog. Breeder-release dogs can be different at first – they carry some fear simply because they’ve never been shown the world. But with love, they blossom, and they truly appreciate every kindness. What Ruby is great at: • LOVES other dogs – she absolutely needs another dog in the home for confidence and guidance. She LOVES to play and run in the yard. • Not dominant, very easygoing with canine friends and ignores the cat. • Potty training is going awesome and she’s catching on fast. Taken out on a shedule. • She enjoys watching her foster mom in the kitchen like a little shadow • Big, adorable cocker-spaniel feet that make her even cuter What Ruby still needs help with: • Not leash trained (this is typical for breeder-release dogs) • Will pancake or freeze if approached quickly • Building confidence with everyday household things • Slow, gentle handling and patience. She is very afraid of men so women only. Requirements for Adoption: ✔ Secure fenced yard (non-negotiable at this time — she’s not leash trained and can spook easily) ✔ Another friendly, confident dog in the home ✔ A home willing to research and understand the needs of puppymill/breeder-release dogs ✔ Lots of patience, gentleness, and encouragement Tips for Helping a Scared Dog Like Ruby: • Move slowly and let her come to you when she’s ready • Sit on the floor — it’s far less scary than standing over her • Use soft voices, soft movements, and lots of yummy rewards • Let the resident dog “teach” her how to be a pet • Keep routines predictable • Celebrate tiny wins — they matter! Ruby is ready for someone who will give her time, safety, and love so she can continue her transformation. When she looks at you with those soft Cocker eyes… whew. She’s special. If you think Ruby might be your girl, apply at www.campcompanion.org .

Story
Maple is a 2.5-year-old French Brittany who packs a whole lot of charm into her perfect 25-pound frame. Her foster family lovingly calls her “Meatball,” and honestly…it fits. She’s adorable, goofy, snuggly, and absolutely devoted to her people. Maple LOVES car rides, plush toys, and curling up next to you for belly rubs. She didn’t get much freedom or enrichment in her early life and likely spent most of her time in a kennel, so she came to us needing a refresher on potty training and some basic house habits. She’s made steady progress but still needs a patient family willing to keep her routine consistent. She can be a bit curious and may check out items that aren’t technically “hers,” so keeping tempting things out of reach and offering plenty of dog-safe toys will set her up for success. Maple does well in her kennel when her people are out of the house. She may give a little protest bark at first (she just has to make sure you know she has notes), but she settles down and rests quietly once she realizes she’s safe. Maple is not a dog that can live with or closely interact with other dogs. Through training, she has made progress in calmly seeing dogs at a distance with positive reinforcement, but pushing those interactions too quickly can cause anxiety for her. For her comfort and safety, she must be an only dog, and a fenced-in yard (ideally privacy fenced) would suit her best so she can explore and enjoy the outdoors stress-free. She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. Maple has mastered “sit", and is working on more tricks, but needs a little patience since she isn’t very food motivated. Maple is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Now she’s just waiting for a family who sees how special she is and can give her the structure, love, and dog-free home she deserves. Maple is currently in foster care in Wisconsin and has an adoption donation fee of $400.  If you are interested in adopting her and have been approved to adopt, let your state coordinator know you are interested in her.  If you haven’t yet done so, please go to: https://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application to fill out an application.  Your state coordinator will contact you and take you through the approval process.  If your application looks like a possible fit for her, your coordinator will contact Maple’s coordinator and continue the screening process. Maple’s state coordinator is Hallie Barbara. She can be reached at Minnesotabrittany@gmail.com for questions or inquires.   Thank you for considering this sweet girl.  December 15, 2025, 9:27 am

Story
Ron is a wonderfully quirky little guy who looks like a twenty pound teddy bear come to life. He is affectionate, soulful, and absolutely loves to cuddle. Ron makes the sweetest eye contact and wants to be close to his people as much as possible. If you work from home, he will happily keep you company and may even insist on being a full time lap dog. Ron enjoys going for walks and gets very excited to head outside, though he has his own unique walking style and tends to zig zag rather than walk in a straight line. It just adds to his charm. Ron would benefit from continued dog socialization. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog, or in a home that understands his needs and is committed to helping him build confidence around other dogs. Ron needs a home with no small children and no cats. He would do well in an adult household or a family with older, respectful kids who understand dog boundaries. Ron is a loving, loyal companion who will thrive in a home that enjoys closeness, personality, and a dog who truly wants to be part of everyday life. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet Riley 💙 Riley is a sweet, sensitive Cavalier with a heart as soft as his silky ears and a personality that bonds deeply. This affectionate boy truly thrives with his person—his favorite place in the world is right next to you (or preferably touching you). If cuddling were an Olympic sport, Riley would take gold every time. In public, Riley is social and friendly to everyone. Riley would do best in a calm home with one primary person or a female owner, as he tends to choose his person and can become protective of them around other people or dogs. This guarding behavior is something he will need continued work and guidance on, but with the right adopter who understands the breed and is willing to help him build confidence and boundaries, Riley has so much potential. Riley came to rescue from a breeder, and because of that background he can be shy with fast movements or sudden hands. He also does not like men due to this. He initially gains confidence from other dogs in the home, but once settled, he may guard his person’s attention and try to keep other dogs away. This is manageable with structure, patience, and consistency—but it’s important his adopter is prepared to work on this behavior. So if dogs are in the home, you will need to work on this. That said, Riley is an incredibly loving, gentle soul who would happily cuddle with you all day if you let him. He is happiest when he’s included in daily life and not shut away. ✨ Riley’s Best Qualities: • Exceptionally sweet, gentle, and affectionate • A true Velcro dog who wants to be with his person • Loves couch cuddles and snuggling in bed • Walks nicely on a leash • Does stairs confidently • Good with other dogs and likely cats (with proper introductions) • Learns quickly and wants to please Riley is not a fan of kennels or closed doors, which is understandable given his past—he arrived with urine staining that suggests long hours spent confined. He thrives when he can stay close and feel secure. We have slowly been working on this and he can do it for short periods of time. He is still working on potty training and currently wears a belly band indoors. With routine, patience, and consistency, he continues to make progress. Will use potty pads but not trustworthy with them. Riley would do best in a female only home where someone is around often, confinement isn’t required, and his adopter understands his need for reassurance, structure, and ongoing training. In return, he will give unwavering loyalty, endless snuggles, and the kind of devotion that only a Cavalier can offer. 👉 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org 💲 Adoption Fee: $350 + tax
