Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: Freckles McGeeBREED: CockapooDOB: April 1, 2025GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Freckles McGee is shy puppy that will thrive in a calm, patient, and understanding home where he is given the time and space he needs to build confidence at his own pace. An ideal home would be a quieter environment with a predictable routine and caregivers who are gentle, reassuring, and willing to let him come out of his shell naturally.Personality: Freckles McGee may be a little shy at first, but underneath that gentle demeanor is a very smart and observant pup who is eager to learn. He takes in everything around him and, once he feels safe, he begins to show his curious and thoughtful personality. With a little patience and encouragement, his confidence will start to grow, and his willingness to learn really shines through. Freckles McGee is a sweet pup that forms strong bonds with his people and will thrive with someone who can continue to nurture his confidence while helping him reach his full potential.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Freckles McGee is still at the very beginning of his training journey and will need guidance, patience, and consistency to help him succeed. He is learning the basics of house training and will benefit from a structured routine with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement. Crate training has been going well and provides him with a safe, cozy space. Leash walking is still new, but with gentle encouragement and rewards, he is beginning to understand. WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
