Story
Freckles—whose original name is Pecas, Spanish for freckles—is a 10-month-old Cocker Spaniel with the happiest personality and the wiggliest little butt you've ever seen. The moment he sees you, his whole body starts moving with excitement. He is truly one of those dogs who seems to smile with his entire body!
Freckles came to ROOT Rescue as an owner surrender through no fault of his own. His family was moving and unfortunately could no longer bring him along. Sadly, this is a story we see far too often in rescue. Puppies are adorable and exciting when they're small, but as they grow, some families decide they can no longer keep them because life changes or becomes inconvenient.
Freckles deserves better than that.
At just 10 months old, he is still a young dog with so much life ahead of him. What he needs now is a committed forever family—someone who understands that adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment and who will continue to love him through every stage of his life. We don't want Freckles to ever have to wonder if he's going to be given up again.
And honestly, we're not sure how anyone could resist him. Freckles is one of the happiest dogs you'll meet. He is affectionate, playful, goofy, and absolutely thrilled to be around people. His favorite activity may simply be being with his humans and showing them just how happy he is to see them.
Freckles is also dog-friendly and cat-friendly, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with furry siblings. He loves having friends and would enjoy having another playful companion to keep him company.
Like any young dog, Freckles is still learning. He needs a little more work with potty training, but he is making progress and should continue improving with a consistent routine, patience, and positive reinforcement. His future family should be prepared to continue helping him learn and become the best version of himself.
Freckles has already been fully vetted and is ready for his forever home. He is neutered, veterinarian checked, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and heartworm and Lyme tested.
Freckles has so much love to give. He has the happiest little personality, the wiggliest butt, and a heart that deserves a family who will never give up on him when life gets complicated.
He's had one chapter end because his family couldn't take him with them. We're determined to make sure his next chapter is his forever one.
