Story
Cooper was purchased at Petland 5 years ago. He does well with a male. I think the best fit for him would be a single male with no other pets and not a lot of people coming in or out of the house. He has to be watched around visitors. He has nipped at a few people but never done any real damage. He has started to growl at my wife on occasion, and we have owned him together for his entire life. He is very loyal to me. We do have other dogs, and he is fine with them 85 percent of the time, but he has gone after our other dog a few times.

Story
Chestnut is a 12+ year old male cocker spaniel whose life story could have made him bitter… but instead, it made him even sweeter.   This gentle senior was once someone’s devoted companion, the kind of dog who quietly follows you from room to room just to be near. Tragically, he was found abandoned on a busy road with a painful, eye injury, and struck by a car. Despite everything he has endured, Chestnut greets the world with softness, trust, and a tail that still wants to wag.   His damaged eye has been removed, and he’s recovering beautifully after hip surgery. When he was found, his coat was painfully matted to the skin and he had to be shaved down. The good news? His soft, beautiful fur will grow back, and each day he grows stronger and more comfortable.   What hasn’t changed is his spirit.   Chestnut is calm, affectionate, and very gentle. He loves cozy dog beds, soft voices, and simply being near his humans. He’s past the hustle and bustle of youth and is ready for the quiet joys of senior life: sunny naps, slow strolls, and resting his head on a loving lap. He doesn’t ask for much - just safety, patience, and a loving home where he can finally exhale.   Chestnut is good with other quiet dogs that allow him space as he prefers to keep to himself. He is good with cats. Due to his age and injury a home without young children is preferred. Chestnut is crate/pen trained and keeps it clean. When his beautiful coat grows in he will require regular professional grooming to keep him free of matting and his paws from slipping on the floor.    If you are ready to give a deserving old soul the comfort he’s always given to others, Chestnut is waiting to glow quietly beside you for the rest of his golden years. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   February 2, 2026, 9:27 pm

Story
Autumn is a gentle, soulful Cocker Spaniel who is experiencing the world for the very first time. After spending most of her life in a puppy mill having litter after litter, she is finally getting the chance to learn what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family. She is a quiet, tender girl who finds comfort in the presence of other dogs. Autumn absolutely lights up around them—she follows their lead, copies their routines, and even chooses to nap right on top of the dog beds so she can be close. Having one (or more!) doggy friends gives her confidence and helps her understand this new life. Autumn is still learning how to trust people. She is shy and unsure at first and may try to keep her distance, but with time and gentle patience, she slowly begins to show her soft, sweet personality. She has even discovered the joy of climbing onto the couch to curl up and nap—something she never had the chance to do before. Because she is still new to the concept of potty training and leash walking, Autumn does best with a physically fenced yard. She feels safer going potty off leash and is far more successful when she can explore the yard at her own pace. A fenced yard also gives her a secure place to practice her leash skills without pressure or fear. Autumn settles best in a larger crate and may howl a little at first, but she adjusts and relaxes. Most things in a normal home are brand new to her—sounds, routines, affection, freedom—and she takes them in gently and carefully. For her safety, letting her drag a leash indoors makes it easier to guide or pick her up without scaring her. What makes Autumn so special is the quiet courage she shows every day. Despite everything she’s been through, she is trying. She is curious. She is learning. And she is finally beginning to feel what safety and comfort are supposed to be. Autumn is looking for a calm, patient, low-key household with another confident dog and a fenced yard—a place where she can continue to decompress, build trust at her own pace, and blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. If you’re someone who believes in second chances and finds beauty in watching a dog bloom, Autumn will steal your heart. Autumn is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
