Story
Chestnut is a 12+ year old male cocker spaniel whose life story could have made him bitter… but instead, it made him even sweeter.   This gentle senior was once someone’s devoted companion, the kind of dog who quietly follows you from room to room just to be near. Tragically, he was found abandoned on a busy road with a painful, eye injury, and struck by a car. Despite everything he has endured, Chestnut greets the world with softness, trust, and a tail that still wants to wag.   His damaged eye has been removed, and he’s recovering beautifully after hip surgery. When he was found, his coat was painfully matted to the skin and he had to be shaved down. The good news? His soft, beautiful fur will grow back, and each day he grows stronger and more comfortable.   What hasn’t changed is his spirit.   Chestnut is calm, affectionate, and very gentle. He loves cozy dog beds, soft voices, and simply being near his humans. He’s past the hustle and bustle of youth and is ready for the quiet joys of senior life: sunny naps, slow strolls, and resting his head on a loving lap. He doesn’t ask for much - just safety, patience, and a loving home where he can finally exhale.   Chestnut is good with other quiet dogs that allow him space as he prefers to keep to himself. He is good with cats. Due to his age and injury a home without young children is preferred. Chestnut is crate/pen trained and keeps it clean. When his beautiful coat grows in he will require regular professional grooming to keep him free of matting and his paws from slipping on the floor.    If you are ready to give a deserving old soul the comfort he’s always given to others, Chestnut is waiting to glow quietly beside you for the rest of his golden years. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   March 7, 2026, 9:24 am

Story
Cooper was purchased at Petland 5 years ago. He does well with a male. I think the best fit for him would be a single male with no other pets and not a lot of people coming in or out of the house. He has to be watched around visitors. He has nipped at a few people but never done any real damage. He has started to growl at my wife on occasion, and we have owned him together for his entire life. He is very loyal to me. We do have other dogs, and he is fine with them 85 percent of the time, but he has gone after our other dog a few times.

Story
Meet Shirley, a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel with soft ears, soulful eyes, and a heart ready for love. Weighing in at 25-lbs of sweetness, Shirley didn't have the best start in life, but she's making up for lost time now. Once you earn her trust, you'll see her true colors shine - affectionate, curious, and bursting with personality! Shirley loves discovering new toys, soaking up backyard sunshine, and leaning in for her favorite ear rubs (she'll let you know if you stop too soon!). She's smart, eager to learn, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. She does have a heart murmur that will need to be monitored, but it doesn't stop her from living life to the fullest. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will blossom right before your eyes, Shirley is ready to fill your home - and your heart - with joy. Shirley is fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Autumn! Autumn is a gentle, soulful 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel weighing about 20 pounds who has come a long way from her past life in a puppy mill. It’s clear she hasn’t always known kindness or stability, but despite that, she is incredibly loving and just wants to be close to her people. She is the kind of dog who will quietly make her way over, rest her head beside you, and look up for affection, or roll onto her back for belly rubs with the sweetest little trust. She forms deep bonds and truly thrives on that connection—she just wants to feel safe, loved, and reassured. Autumn does wonderfully with other dogs and coexists very easily with them, though her heart really belongs to her person. She’ll happily climb right over another dog just to get closer to you, which perfectly sums up how much she craves love and comfort. Because of her past, Autumn does carry some anxiety, and at times it can take over. This shows up as pacing and restlessness, especially when confined to a crate where she has difficulty settling. It’s not destructive behavior—just a reflection of a life where she likely never had the chance to truly relax and feel secure. The good news is that we are actively working on a plan to help Autumn feel more comfortable and confident in her environment. This includes structure, routine, and medication to support her anxiety as she continues to adjust and decompress. With the right support, she is already showing that she can settle, especially in the evenings when she’ll curl up peacefully next to her person. Autumn would do best in a calm, patient home where someone is around most of the time. A work-from-home or retired household would be ideal, as she finds comfort in companionship and consistency. She’s not a dog who wants to be left alone all day—she’s a dog who just wants to finally feel like she belongs. She is still working on potty training while adjusting to prescription C/D food to manage urinary crystals, and she continues to make progress with consistency and support. At times, her anxiety can even cause her to lose focus on eating, so her foster is helping her build a routine and regain a healthy weight. What makes Autumn so special is her quiet resilience. Even after a difficult start in life, she has so much love to give. There is a softness to her—a gentle, hopeful spirit—that just wants someone to show her that the world can be safe and kind. Autumn is looking for a calm, committed home that will continue the work we’ve started—giving her patience, reassurance, and the stability she’s always deserved. In return, she will offer a deeply devoted, affectionate companionship that is truly something special. Autumn is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Story
We prefer a retired couple with a yard that has time to spend with her. She loves being around people. She is energetic and wants you with her constantly. We paid quite a bit of money for Amecia - all we ask is for a caring home. We bathe her every two weeks. You are welcome to the dog tub cage and any other items we have. My wife is allergic (not terribly but noticeable) - our schedules are too full to give Amecia the time she needs. A loving family is great - though a retired couple is ideal.
