Story
Everyone deserves a second chance… and that’s exactly how Chance got his name. Chance is approximately 9-year-old Brittany who was found abandoned in a ditch during the Kentucky snowstorm. He was in rough shape and very sick! He only weighed 22 pounds and malnourished. Since he has been who has taken the best care of this little man, Chance has gained his weight back, is healthy and she has taught him what it means to live inside with a comfy bed, food and a ton of love!! Once he was stabilized and on the road to recovery, he has been neutered, had an extensive dental with 22 teeth removed due to lack of nutrition and neglect. He only has his 4 canines but that does not stop him from eating and taking treats. He now weighs a healthy 30 pounds. He has had X rays from head to toe and an echocardiogram. He has a slight vision impairment. He is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Chance is a gentle, sweet soul who loves being close to his people. Once he feels safe, he enjoys curling up beside you soaking up affection. He is adjusting to living inside and gains confidence every day. He is crate trained and doing very well with house training. He is only having a few accidents but continues to improve each day. He has learned the doggy door. Chance does well with cats and gets along nicely with other dogs. Chance would do best in a calm home with no young children, where he can feel safe and relaxed. Due to unknown old leg injuries that have healed he needs to be in a home that has very few steps to make it easier for him to move around. He needs a fenced yard so that he can stroll and sniff and do his business. He is not a candidate for an invisible fence. A quiet, laid-back low activity home would be ideal for him. He has learned to play with toys; he will go over to the toy basket and pick one out and quietly walk away with it not drawing attention to himself. One thing we’ve noticed about Chance is that he’s a very quiet boy, he rarely barks. Instead, he has the cutest little way of giving a gentle growl when he wants your attention, which just adds to his unique personality. Sadly, not knowing his background other than his body tells the story he has lived a very hard life. It is the little things watching him enjoy as he continues learning how to just be a dog… with love to give!! He is such a sweet boy!! After everything he’s been through, Chance is ready for the best chapter of his life — a patient family who will give him the love and security he’s always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion with a heart of gold, Chance might just be your perfect match. Chance is located in Kentucky.
