Story
Hazel is a very special girl that just loves everyone (people, dogs, cats) but she especially loves to play games.  Her favorite game is tug-o-war with a large thick rope or horse lead and if she has a sibling, she will try to get them to "pull" her around the house or yard.  She also loves fetch, chase and RUNNING outside in the sunshine! Hazel has been working on basic commands like come, stay, sit, and has done good with those but still needs some practice. Hazel is a very enegetic girl so she prefers to be on the move but loves to snuggle (especially at bedtime]. Bedtime...Hazel began her stay in our "doggie den" where she is allowed to run free inside and sleep on her recliner or sofa.  She also has an access door to her fenced yard and has always made it out to the grass for potty breaks. The last week of her stay with her previous foster, Hazel was allowed to sleep inside the main living area.  They "tried" a crate but she wasn't having it and neither was her best friend Buster.  The first night sleeping on her "big girl bed" (doggie bed side the foster's bed) was a success! She went out to potty before bed, slept all night then went straight to the door to go outside as soon as she woke up.  NO accidents...yet. She isn't afraid of loud noises like thunder, tv, radio. She loves to splash in mud puddles and doesn't mind a good bath. Hazel has done very good with a harness (still tugs with a collar) and leash as well as walking with other dogs!  She has been fostered in a home with 6 other rescue dogs ranging in age from 2-14 years old and 9-100 lbs as well as 2 moody female cats. Hazel blended right in and been accepted as a pack member by all.  Her personality is just precious as well as goofy, funny, loving, caring, a trickster (she likes to surprise you by hiding and jumping out) and protective of her pack. She is smart and wants to learn everything! She does need to learn to leave stuffed toys in one piece but we have been working on that.  She LOVES treats especially "beef sticks" and creamy peanut butter.  She will be a great addition to any active family. ##2198183##

Story
Hi there, I’m Luca, a 3-year-old Collie weighing 62 pounds, and I’m just about the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. I was brought to the shelter on 08/22/2024 after my owner was arrested, and now I’m here, hoping for a fresh start with someone who’ll love me as much as I’ll love them. Life’s been a little rough lately, but I haven’t let that dampen my spirit. I love belly rubs (seriously, they’re the best!), and I already know how to sit and lay down like a pro. I’m neutered, my shots are all up to date, so I’m ready to go home and be the loyal, loving companion you’ve been searching for. You can meet me in cage #108, ID 661315. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle boy who’s ready to fill your life with love and belly rubs, I’m your guy. Let’s make it official! Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERFECT MATCH:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 67 lbs.    Hello, I’m Smiley!  Take one look at my pic, and you will know why my Mostly Mutts name suits me – lol.   I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and have been busy charming the volunteers with my cuteness and personality ever since.  I bet you will love me too!  I am doing some guarding of my room/crate, and my trainer would be happy to tell you more about that. Let’s meet soon and see if I am your new furry family member!  I got to spend some time in the foster/training program offsite and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and was friendly with them as long as we were playing away from my room or crate, which I guard. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet with my trainer. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but because I guard my room/crate, and have bitten over this, so if you have older teens such as 15+ that know not to take things from me, or reach into my crate, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I have a super sweet and loving disposition.  I’m playful, friendly and – true to my collie mix – pretty smart, too!  When the play is done, I also love to chill with my people.  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, although I do guard my crate.  My trainer is working with me on this and has taught me to ‘sit’ and wait in my ‘place’ while my crate is cleaned.  Still, items should not be taken from my crate with me present.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home.     • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like toys and am always ready for some play time with my people!  The volunteers say I am ‘all smiles’ when out and about on my walks.  My first shelter bath was scary for me, but I did much better the second time and loved the brushing of my coat that went with it – which is good, because I do need a good brushing from time to time.  Being near my people makes me a happy guy – especially when belly rubs are involved.  Recently, I took my job as ‘front desk assistant’ at the shelter very seriously – placing my paws on the volunteers’ laps to let them know they are loved!  I am happiest when away from my crate, and when I am outside, I am a super happy go lucky guy! / Other than the above-mentioned guarding of my room/crate, I can’t think of any other dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.   • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.  I have a significant underbite, but it doesn’t bother me, and some even say it makes me cuter.  I am looking for a great home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  October 9, 2024, 7:15 am

Story
Sweet, shy, special Lizza... this wonderful 3-year-old border collie is from working lines. She is shy and timid at first, and needs to go to a home where patients is a must! She also needs at least one other dog in the home to help get her comfortable. She loves people and kids, but again needs to be given appropriate time to acclimate to her new surroundings. She will play with toys. She enjoys the company of other dogs and she likes to go for walks. It may take her some time to get used to new surroundings but when she does she brightens right up! A home with older kids over eight would be best or with only adults. She is crate trained and housebroken. An ideal home for her would be one that gives her plenty of time and love and patience to acclimate appropriately, but also one that isn't going to coddle her and help her gain confidence in a new environment. She is not a typical active border collie, but does require some mental and physical stimulation throughout her day. Lizza is two and a half years old and is full grown at 36 pounds. If you are interested in adopting Lizza, please fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAY-A-7200 **Applications can take anywhere from 5-7 business days to complete. Story
Meet Carson Dukes. His eyes (one blue, one brown) are unique and strikingly gorgeous, one myth even says that dogs with two different color eyes can view heaven and earth at the same time. Carson is an adult Border Collie mix who has been with us since he was just a pup. Like some of our others he can be a bit shy and timid around new people so he would benefit from an adopter who is willing to spend some time with him at our kennel. Once he figures out who will be his friend he is very loving. Oh, and he is a bit of an escape artist, six feet or chain link does not hold a challenge for him. He never leaves us; he just doesn’t like to be fenced. Carson would be a great indoor companion with supervised outdoor exercise.  Carson recently spent some time in a foster home. He adjusted well to being a house dog, is crate trained, and almost housebroken. He got along with the other dogs, really enjoyed stretching his long legs running and playing in the yard, and was happily contained with the 8ft privacy fence. His foster family describes him as, "lovable, sweet, playful, and quirky in the most endearing way."  Carson's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip, current vaccinations, and up to date heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Story
Hi everybody, this is Hazel—because she has the prettiest, most expressive Hazel eyes.  She is a 1 1/2 year girl who is both highly alert and intelligent. She gets along well with other dogs but is wary of new people choosing to study them closely before. Her foster mom says that letting people prove that they are trustworthy is a good policy. Hazel is a high-energy dog who is also quite affectionate when given the time and opportunity to bond with deserving people. Toys and playtime are more important to her than treats, so she needs someone who has time to throw a ball for her. She is SO much fun! Hazel is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and on prevention.  ##1402505##
