Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $300 (in TX)

To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- New people and things can be scary for her, particularly men, but she recovers pretty well if you let her take things at her own pace; she warmed up to the woman in her foster home within a couple of hours, while it took almost a week for her to be comfortable with the calm, quiet man in the home - Once she has warmed up, she is a laid-back cuddle bug who loves being near her people; recently began wagging her tail in her foster home and getting the zoomies! - Will likely open up even more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Sights and sounds may startle her if they're new, loud or scary - Knows sit, down and outside; loves treats but responds especially well to praise - Has been fully potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine - Does well on a leash, but may pull occasionally, especially if she sees other dogs or people - Will likely do best in a quiet home with more mature family members- Has been doing very well with the dog in her foster home and likes snuggling up close to him; generally laid back with other dogs but does have some FOMO - if one dog gets a treat, she wants one at the exact same time; would probably do well with a like-minded dog friend who is not too pushy and is OK with her desire to snuggle (dog intro recommended)- Did well with cats in a previous home - Has the cutest underbite! To schedule a time to meet her, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.--- - A little unsure of the world but is making steady progress in her foster home learning about all the wonderful things there are to being a dog! - Recently learned what TOYS are and enjoys tossing them to herself while she frolics outside - Does well in her crate when she has to be at home alone, and is working up to longer stretches contained; really loves having something to keep her busy while her friends are away- Has been about 95% potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - While she continues her confidence journey, a young or busy home may be too much for her; will likely be most successful in a home where all family members are old enough to understand her need for space at times - Would likely benefit from a calm and confident dog sibling to continue showing her how to navigate the world; would love to meet any resident pups in her next home prior to adoption - Lived with cats in her previous home and also has feline siblings in her foster home, although still needs structured introductions to them in a new place, until she's reminded that they aren't playmates! - Arrived with a suspected congenital deformity on one of her front paws; is missing a toe or two, but it impacts her life very little and is mostly a fun talking point for her at parties The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Hi! I'm Ozzie... and I think you're looking for me. I'm about six months old, I'm a Blue Heeler puppy, and I've been told I'm the laid-back one in the family. Don't get me wrong—I still love to play, explore, and have puppy fun, but compared to my brother Morty, I'm a little more of the "let's see how this goes" kind of guy. Think of me as the cool customer. My life didn't start out the way every puppy dreams it will. My brother, two adult female dogs, and I were abandoned at a trailer park. No family. No warm bed. No one making sure we had food or water. The four of us stuck together and did our best to survive while waiting for someone to notice we needed help. Thankfully, someone did. Now that I'm safe, my true personality is shining through. I'm discovering how wonderful people can be, and I have to say...I like this new life a whole lot better! Being a Red Heeler means I come with some pretty awesome features. I'm smart (sometimes a little too smart), I love learning, and I enjoy having things to do. Whether it's figuring out a puzzle toy, learning a new command, going for walks, or hanging out with my people, I'm happiest when I'm included. Heelers are famous for being loyal, and I plan to take that job very seriously. Even though I'm still a puppy, I already know that life's greatest adventures are meant to be shared. I'm looking for someone who'll teach me new things, laugh at my puppy antics, and give me the love I've been missing. In return, I'll be your faithful companion through every walk, road trip, lazy afternoon, and exciting adventure. I may be the calmer brother, but don't mistake that for boring. I still have plenty of puppy energy, a playful streak, and a goofy side that comes out when I'm comfortable. I just happen to believe life is best enjoyed with a little less chaos and a little more tail wagging. I've already survived the hardest part of my story. Now all I need is the best part... A family to call my own. Could that family be yours? I promise I'll spend the rest of my life proving you made the right choice.
