Story
Meet Lenny, a happy, goofy, and affectionate dog who is ready to find his forever family. Lenny weighs 50 pounds and is four years old. He appears to be Collie/Lab and Collie mix (or something very similar) and he has the sweet, people-loving nature to match. Lenny loves being around humans and thrives on attention, affection, and companionship. He’s friendly and gentle with people, does well with children, and has been around many different dogs, all of whom he’s gotten along with beautifully. While he hasn’t been exposed to cats, he has shown himself to be social, playful, and well-mannered. This big-hearted boy is playful and a little goofy in the very best way. He loves pets, kisses, and being part of whatever people are doing. Lenny is housetrained, walks well on a leash, travels calmly in the car, and has no food aggression. He may bark when he hears doorbells or knocks, but overall he settles well with routine and reassurance. Lenny would do best in a home with someone who has some dog experience, as he benefits from structure and consistency. Apartment living is possible for him, though a smaller building rather than a large high-rise would be ideal. While Lenny doesn’t have separation anxiety and is not destructive if a family lives in an apartment it would be best if meone works from home. This is because if left alone he may bark while waiting for his family to return. Lenny has so much potential and would truly shine with continued training. He would do wonderfully in obedience classes, agility training, group play, or doggie daycare, where he can burn energy, learn new skills, and socialize. He would be happy as an only dog or with another canine companion, and we believe he would do well with children aged eight and up. Lenny is a joyful, loving boy who simply wants to be included, guided, and loved. With the right home, he will be an incredibly loyal and fun companion who brings laughter, warmth, and devotion wherever he goes. Lenny is healthy, neutered, and up to date on his shots. If you live in Canada within three hours of Toronto and think Lenny could be the one for you, please reach out to our rescue at c4ptoronto@gmail.com. We would love to tell you about and our foster to adopt program. Lenny is ready to meet his people — and to finally belong.

Story
Hi there… I’m Hazel I’m 8 years old, about 40 pounds, and I’m a pretty clever girl — even if I do say so myself. My family did a DNA test and found out I’m a mix of five different breeds — a real blend of a few wonderful breeds! But the ones that really stand out are my Australian Cattle Dog and Bulldog roots. That’s where my strong herding instincts come from. I’m naturally alert, aware, and always tuned in to what’s happening around me. It’s just how I’m wired. Six years ago, Just Paws Animal Rescue placed me with a wonderful family who has loved me so very much. This decision hasn’t been easy for them — it’s truly heartbreaking. They’ve done everything they can to help me succeed, but they’ve come to realize that I would be happiest and most at peace as the only dog in the home. So they’re working closely with the rescue to find me the very best possible match — a home where I can fully relax and thrive. I bond deeply with my people. I’m loyal, devoted, and love being near you — but I’m also independent. I’m happy to settle on my dog bed and enjoy my own space when it’s time to unwind. I feel my best when life is calm, predictable, and structured. Whenever I’ve stayed with Grandma (she doesn’t have any dogs), everyone notices how much more relaxed and content I am. That’s how they know for sure — I truly shine as the only pet. I just don’t enjoy sharing my space with other animals, and that’s okay. I’m meant to be someone’s one and only. Walks are one of my strengths. I’m great on leash and don’t pull, but I love to stop and smell. As long as I’m given space and not expected to interact with other dogs, I handle my walks beautifully. I also love to play fetch — toss a ball and I’m all in. It’s one of my favourite ways to burn energy and bond with you. I’m also a lover of the sun. Any time you miss me, you’ll find me sunbathing in a patch of sunlight. When I’m calm, I’m a fantastic listener. I know sit, stay (especially when you’re wiping my feet), give paw, and “go to bed.” I like having clear expectations — it makes me feel safe and confident. I’m fully house trained and perfectly comfortable being left alone. I can relax quietly at home and don’t struggle with separation anxiety. I’m healthy, active, and have no physical limitations. I love chewing on my bones, enjoying salmon treats, going for car rides, and of course playing fetch. Even though I’m not comfortable with other animals, I have never shown aggression toward people. My dream home would be an all-adult household with no other pets and a fully fenced yard where I can safely run and play. Someone who understands herding breeds would be wonderful. But most of all, I need a calm, steady person who will give me regular exercise, mental stimulation, and clear, loving boundaries. I’m being fostered in Waterloo. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent companion who will bond deeply with you and truly flourish as your one and only, I might just be your girl! ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.
